I got the 'cello set for Christmas and love it to bits. It's true that the rosin is fake (I have an older AG violin set that included a tiny piece of real rosin) but I think better that, than no rosin at all.
The catches on the 'cello case are plastic too but I think the case was well done. It looks like the one I had, only mine didn't have elastic straps (I'm guessing newer ones do).
As mentioned in the post above, there is no music stand with the 'cello unlike the earlier violin and flute sets, but Alex can always borrow the one belonging to either of those, or simply play by ear.
The thing I had more trouble with than the lack of music stand was finding something suitable for my doll to sit on to play her instrument. I finally upturned the laundry basket that came with the (nonAG) washing machine and put a cushion on it to make a low stool. Even though you can adjust the height of the instrument with the rod at the base, it doesn't come out quite far enough and most of my doll sized chairs were just too high: the rod doesn't always stay where you pull it out either, there's no means to lock it at any particular height as with a real 'cello.
Overall though, I'm just so thrilled that AG even MADE a 'cello in the first place that I have to give it an A. Yes, it's plastic and cannot actually be played, but it's a really lovely doll accessory, it looks good and does not look obviously plastic.
Edited to add dimensions:
Length (excluding end pin): 31cm
With end pin extended: 34cm
Body depth/height: 3cm
Neck (measured from where joins body) 11cm
Fingerboard is 1cm wide just below tuning pegs, widens to 1.5cm at end.
The 'shoulders' are 9cm wide and the 'hips' are 12cm.
The bow is 18cm from end to end.
Edited to remove pics that Photobucket hijacked. I do plan to replace them as soon as possible
