I love the original sled! Next to Kit's Treehouse, it is my favorite non-doll item and the original Husky is my favorite pet too! 
That said, I have to admit that it took me a long time to locate one on eBay that wasn't broken in some manner. That indicates to me that it is unlikely to hold up to rough play. If your child is going to be using it for display and some light play, then by all means look for the original one. If your child is more active, then I would go for the new one. Best case scenario? BOTH! lol
