This is a very vibrant spring dress, marketed in 2001 as another Easter dress. It tends to get overlooked a lot for some reason in collectors' displays.
The crepe-y under-dress is printed with rather groovy-looking flowers of many colors. There is a sheer overlay of the same print, which gives it a fun multi-dimensional look. The bodice has a decorative floral trim. The dress zips up the back, and just skims the top of the knees.
The purse in a complimentary blue has the same floral trim, and very pretty beaded handles. LOVE the purse. The slip-on backless strappy sandals are a pearlized blue with criss-cross strapping. They have not held up well AT ALL over the years at all and have basically fallen apart on us. Fail for shoes, boo.
The zipper on my dress is a hard to manage past the bodice trim. I haven't had any trouble fitting pudgy PM dolls into the dress, however, and I think that is because the fabric is rather stretchy.
Although I'm sure the color combination isn't for everyone, I give the whole ensemble an A. The shoes aren't exceptional and haven't lasted, so that keeps it from being an A+.
The set originally retailed for $22, and I wouldn't pay more than $30 for the complete outfit on EBAY even if it is retired. It's fun and perky, and very much what a little girl would wear for a less formal spring dress. My daughter had the same dress in her size, which I've reviewed elsewhere on AGPT.
