Though #16 was not one of the ones retired during the 2012 outfit change, I ordered one shortly before the meet change (mostly for her meet outfit, IU code, and box). I intended to switch the new doll out with my previous revised-banged doll anyways, but was expecting another revised doll. Instead I got one of the retired #16 dolls.
I had never seen a pie-banged #16 before, so I was interested and not unhappy that I was sent this one.

Seeing as how they clearly have old stock of #16 I am kind of surprised they didn't retire her, but I am delighted as she is my favorite doll.
I will not be keeping this doll, but it was great to see a pie-banged version.
