Skateboard Outfit and Book
Grade: A Includes: Hoodie, shorts, tank, deck shoes, skateboard, book, and 10 rubber bands. This is a cute, action-oriented outfit that I really enjoy. It looks like something a tomboyish girl would wear (aside from the pink) and makes a pleasant change from the frills-a-plenty the JLY line has had lately. The hoodie: It's the same gray as the Licorice Play outfit, with a screen print of a tropical flower. Not much else to say - it fits well, and whether or not you think it's cute is a matter of opinion. I happen to think it does, as I own a number of similar sweatshirts myself. The top: It's a nice, vibrant shade of pink. It's a good piece, though I'd have preferred another color since there are a lot of pink tanks now. C'est la vie. The shorts: I love the camo print, and the color on its own. However, the color seems out of place with the rest of the outfit. The only other blue is on the bottom of the board, which you can't see. I think a nice green camo would have worked better, since it would match with the design on the shoes and the leaves on the sweatshirt. The shoes: Why? WHY? Why more pink shoes? 9 out of 10 AG shoes are pink these days. Ok, yeah, cute, great detailing, but really, do we need more light pink? The board: Overall, very cute. The top is more authentic than the last board, and it has an adorable design on the bottom. My only quibble is with the elastic band. Look, if someone can't balance their doll well enough to stand on the board, that band is too flimsy to help so it's a lost cause no matter what. Why mar a perfectly good board with that stupid band? Hairbands: Oh, they're pink tiny hairbands. It's nice they included them, but I can see them getting lost and broken easily.

Grade: C I am returning my skateboarding outfit. My grade and review goes mostly by my opinion, because obviously others have other opinions. Starting with the shirt- It's ok. I think it should at least touch the shorts. When I put the shirt on my Nellie doll, it had space between it and the shorts. Plus, it could at least have some kind of detail. I give it a B. (But why pink!) Shorts- I thought I would actually like these! They don't go up on Nellie the whole way. If she were a real little girl, her toosh would surely show. (unless I have a fat Nellie!) The material and the coloring is nice, but it doesn't match the shirt that well. A Jacket- This piece is ok.. I the design of the flowers is cute, and it matches the tanktop, but the whole shirt/jacket set doesn't match the shorts! B Shoes- I don't like these, I didn't see the yellow design on them on the website. I love the style though. But again, pink?! A Skateboard- I am so upset with this! I put Nellie on it, and made her "skateboard" a foot across my kitchen floor. What happens? The wheels and where they are attatched wobble and get loose and, she falls onto the floor. And Nellie's limbs are still nice and tight! I even used that elastic band thing! C Though I do love the design on the bottom as well! My overall opinion on this is, "It's ok but they could have done better." I see boys and girls skateboarding. Girls are even dressed like the boys. They are the "skaters" I guess. And I never see a girl wear something like this- skateboarding or not! ETA- I will try to get my pictures up as soon as I can!

I wasn't sure about this outfit and kept changing my mind on it, finally deciding to pass until Genevieve shared some mix-and-match photos using this set. That totally swayed me, and I'm glad I got it! However, I still only rate this a B- or C+, because it's so awkward. Starting from the bottom: The shoes are nice shoes. They're converse style and actually very very similar to the ones from the tracksuit. I like the lime green detail - it tones down the pink a bit. They're difficult to get on, though, because the upper is sewn nearly flat at the toe, without much vertical space. Still, once you figure it out, it's not too bad. The shorts are also nice, but not awesome. I like the fabric - it's very comfortable - and I like the L-shaped velcro (plus the elastic in the waistband!). The color is a greenish greyish hue of the blue that's common with the early spring release, but it's not quite the same. I photoed them with the crops from the Coconut Fun Outfit as an example. Still, I think the shorts look decent with the white polo from the Tennis & Golf Outfit for Dolls. The blues are off, but it's not awful, because the detail on the shirt is minor. However, wearing the pink tank from this set with the shorts is EW, especially without the jacket to play interference. The colors are just too different and the pink is too bold for the muted colors in the shorts. I love the little detail at the shoulders of the shirt. It's cute and keeps the otherwise plain shirt from being too boring. The color is very bold, by the way, and can overwhelm your doll. The velcro goes all the way up the back, but it's the thick kind, not the no-snag kind (if I'm remembering properly - I changed my dolls' outfits SO many times today doing photos for reviews!). The shirt looks okay with the Pretty Print skirt, but not fantastic. I really like it with the plaid skirt from the Tennis & Golf Outfit, and I think it would probably look good with the trousers from the 2-in-1 Beach set, too. Also, of course, it would be great with jeans and khakis. The skateboard is pretty cute. The elastic on the top helps keep your doll from slipping off if you want to use it as a display, and it can help her "hold" the board, too! I thought that was cool, since I don't care to put the elastic over the dolls' feet for any reason. No hair things with this set, but the book is "A to Z Reasons to Try New Stuff," or something along those lines. Each reason is accompanied by a letter from a girl to match. It's the typical straight-from-AG-Mag faire. --- KERI

I really enjoy this outfit. I love the color choices and the shorts fit my doll even if she has her undies on. The skateboard is a cute accessory, but I haven't used it much and I think I would have rather paid less and not received a skateboard. The book, in my opinion, is worthless (however, I have never been a big fan of these little books that come with the outfits). I was surprised to find coordinating elastics (bright pink) and really have had fun with these. Overall, I would highly recommend this outfit.

this outfit is so cute. The skateboard is a little plastic-y in my opinion.... The set has definite mix and match possibility. The elastics... why? They look like braces rubber bands... i think the will snap as soon as i try to use them...
...and it took me 10, count 'em, 10 minutes to get the shoes on. Maybe i am just silly, but it was not working for me. Cori looks great in it though, and i am loving a little alternative style...
Overall: B

I got this outfit for Christmas. I would give it an A+! I don't have many outfits but this is by far one of my favorites. If I could change one thing it would be the shoes. They are a tad hard to put on and don't fit my Gotz doll

When this outfit came out, I knew I had to have it! It's very me! Grade- A+++++ (and the pluses go on and on) Tank Top- Cute color and goes with so many stuff other than the shorts that come with it! Shorts- My favorite part of the outfit and go on easily! Hoodie- Very very good quality and easy to get on! I want one for myself! Shoes- The shoes are my only complaint. I find them very hard to get on. But once they're on, their adorable! Skateboard- I absolutely love it! It is my favorite sports item they have made in a while. It's such good quality and the dolls usually stay on it!

I had this on my wishlist quite a while before taking the plunge and ordering it. I'm so glad I did! The shorts, top and hoodie are SO much what my DD would wear (except for the top being pink lol) and they are nicely made. I like the shoes though they could have been another colour but pink. I love the skateboard! It feels more solid than the earlier one, and I think it has a much more realistic footboard, texture and under-decoration wise too. The elastic... meh... but at least it is close in colour to the footboard and might not be glaringly obvious in pics. The earlier skateboard had helmet, elbow and knee pads. I could wish this one did, but that would have added extra weight in shipping (lol). A from me. My dolls are fighting over who gets to wear it first.

Another great set! And added points for AG for not being all pink, having mix and matching potential, and representing a not-that-common sport for young girls!
The pieces are really great and can each stand alone. The hoodie is my favourite and the doll can wear it with jeans and a t-shirt like most kids dress. The tank is pink and simple, while the shorts are a pattern and color combination I have not seen elsewhere. The shorts are a squeeze for PM dolls, but the real problem with putting this outfit on PM dolls lies within the shoes. You have to pull and stretch and reposition for 10 minutes just to get them on a PM doll's chunky feet.
ETA: I totally forgot to talk about the actual skateboard. I mean, duh, skateboard outfit.
I think it's really good quality and very cute. The colors are nice and the coolest thing is when you press down on the deck the axels lock like breaks. Very nice technicality!

This is a cute outfit. I've put it on 2 of my dolls. I like it on Felicity. She's wearing it with jeans instead of the shorts that came with it.
