Isabelle Doll & Book - $120 Meet Isabelle, our Girl of the Year! She's an inspired dancer who discovers her own way to shine. The 18" Isabelle doll has sparkling hazel eyes that open and close, and long blond hair styled in double-twists for dance class. Your girl can even add a pop of color with special pink-tipped highlights that she can attach to Isabelle's hair! (Exclusive pink-tipped highlights are removable and work with Isabelle doll only.) The 18" Isabelle doll has a huggable cloth body, and her movable head and limbs are made of smooth vinyl. Includes the Isabelle paperback book.
I purchased Isabelle at AGP DC around 10:30am on January 1. ]
Doll: A- Pros: Her hair seems very easy to take care of, much like McKenna's, and it is a very nice shade of blonde. It is quite thick even without the hair piece. Cons: I'm a bit tired of the classic mold and hazel eyes, would have liked to have seen one or both of those switched up.
Hair
Isabelle left, McKenna right. Very similar style-wise. McKenna's hair is darker and a touch longer.
Lanie left, Isabelle right. Lanie's hair is a touch lighter, but very, very similar in shade.
Isabelle left, Mia right. Similar texture. Putting Isabelle next to Mia brings out the rose tint in her hair.
2005 Elizabeth left, Isabelle right. Almost identical shades of blonde. Isabelle's just has the slightest hint of rose that Elizabeth's doesn't.
1989 WB Kirsten left, Isabelle right. Isabelle's hair is much more of a honey blonde and has that hint of rose. Kirsten's is more ash blonde.
Eyes
Isabelle top, Kanani bottom. Kanani's eyes have more brown in them.
Isabelle top, Lanie bottom. Lanie's eyes seem to have a more yellowy shade of green.
Isabelle top, Mia bottom. Very similar shades but Isabelle's seem more muted somehow.
Isabelle top, 1999 transitional Felicity bottom. Felicity's eyes are neon green.
Lanie, Isabelle, Mia
Hair Piece: C Pros: Love the idea of a doll with pink tips! Cons: They really should have just given her hair pink tips. You can't even see the hair piece when it's in unless you position her hair just right. I personally found the hair piece a pain to put in and in the 24 hours I've had her it has already come unhooked twice.
Meet Outfit: B Pros: Love the gold shoes! I actually like the little "Isabelle" label on her clothes as well. The coral color looks very good on her. Cons: The pants are not nearly as soft as I had hoped and I greatly dislike her undies. They could have been so much cuter.
The Isabelle doll comes in an outfit that shows her love of dance and design! A sequined coral tee with a glittery ballerina graphic and mesh tutu Metallic denim pants with knit cuffs Golden dance shoes Coral underwear
Overall: B Very cute doll with a solid meet outfit. Should have had pink-tipped hair, I greatly dislike the hair piece.

I dislike the hair piece as well i was hoping it would be better. I think ag should have colored her hair pink at the tips or used the bright highlights and give her all pink ones.
I am glad her wig is thick thou at least she doesn't have a thinning wig because of the hair piece.
I liked your review.

Great review. I'm having the same issue with the extension hooks coming off. I'm not a fan of her wig as it is thin in some spots as shown on your #8 picture. But overall, I do love Isabelle.

My Isabelle just arrived in the mail today and I think she is BEAUTIFUL! I think she is much cuter in real life than AG stock photos show. Lets get started:
Isabelle: I definitely would suggest Isabelle for young girls because her wig is SO silky and smooth! Her hair doesn't seem to tangle, and her wig is also quite thick! Her eyes are a lovely hazel color, the standard AG ones from what I can tell, but I really love hazel eyes.
Hair Piece: Okay, so I do like this piece, I think it is pretty cool for an AG doll to have. I think it also adds a pop of color when you do pigtails and other styles on Isabelle's hair..however there are a couple problems. 1. I wish more color showed through when the hair is just down. You have to really search to see the color when down. 2. The piece looks a bit strange and quite obvious when parted.
The Meet Outfit: I really love the outfit Isabelle arrived in, it's super cute! I love the shirt's sleeves and the graphic is really cute. The pants are made out of a silvery metallic denim material, and I think they are quite unique. My favorite part of the meet outfit though are the SHOES! The shoes are so precious and I like that the glitter is sealed by a top coat.
Overall, I give Isabelle a solid A.

I absolutely love Isabelle. Her hair is lovely and fun to play with. It is a bit fly away sometimes, but it is a very thick wig. I love the hair piece, but have trouble putting it in. It also pops off easily, and doesn't really show unless you make it shown.
I wish the extensions were easier to put in and keep in.
Overall: A

Isabelle's hair is silky and doesn't tangle easily - the texture is similar to McKenna's. I find her coloring to be identical to Lanie -
I think she is lovely - grade of A from me - would be an A+ but the extension could fit better.

I will add pictures once I have a chance to take some. Isabelle is a lovely doll, and grabbed me right away, not what I was expecting. She has a lighter lip color when compared to Saige but it works well with her overall coloring. The darker undertones of her hair look like the same color as the darker undertones of #53. She does have noticeable streaks of lighter hair though, which makes her hair overall look lighter than #53 in person. The wig reminds me a lot of McKenna's in thickness and texture. DSC_0032a by hockeypensgal, on Flickr (Isabelle left, #53 right) I have no problem with the hair pieces staying in. One hook came slightly loose upon putting the hair in two braids but the piece was still firmly in. What I found makes putting the hairpiece in is looking for the loops and holding up the hair while maneuvering the hooks in. Not impossible but perhaps harder for a child. It sticks out somewhat for me, only because the hairpiece lies about 1/8 inch longer than her hair. DSC_0033a by hockeypensgal, on Flickr I did a few other comparisons with dolls I have around. Isabelle's eyebrows are the same color as #53's. DSC_0030a by hockeypensgal, on Flickr I also compared her eyes with Rebecca (my only other hazel eyes girl) and I saw no difference in the color. My Rebecca came in 2012. comparing Rebecca and Isabelle's eyes - Rebecca by hockeypensgal, on Flickr comparing Rebecca and Isabelle's eyes - Isabelle by hockeypensgal, on Flickr Overall, Isabelle is a pretty doll, and has all the attributes to make her a success - long, blonde hair that is meant to be styled, hazel eyes, and a dance theme. I think this particular one is a keeper, and I will likely try to get another Isabelle for her wig to make the custom I originally had in mind, since it is a great wig (feat McKenna). If this doll did not have such a sweet face and almost perfect eyes, she would have been the wig donor.

I bought my Isabelle online from American Girl and was worried that there would be defects. But she arrived in perfect shape and is really well made. The hooks on my doll's head appear to be a little higher than on the dolls that you have. I bought the doll for myself, as my 5-year old daughter is not into dolls. Regardless, my daughter wears the extension now . My daughter also does ballet, so I hope that she gets to love Isabelle and that we can create nice clothes for her and connect to her stories through Isabelle books. For Canadians here, one can get American Girl books from chapters.ca or indigo.ca, which is cheaper than buying them directly from AG and paying for shipping and customs.

I impulsively got my Isabelle when I went to the AGP in Boston yesterday. I wasn't planning on purchasing her, since I saw pictures of her online and I wasn't completely sold on her, but in person, she's a stunner!
Doll: Isabelle has long, honey blonde hair with dark hazel eyes, classic face mold, and feathered eyebrows. Mine had very noticeable blush paint and her lips seemed pinkier than my other dolls. Her eyes are also a darker hazel compared to my #38. Her hair is thick and is great to play with. She's very photogenic and is so easy to care for. The only slightly annoying bit about her is that a couple of hairs on the front of her wig seem to fall in her face a lot so I have to pin them back.
Outfit: The meet outfit is not exactly my favorite meet outfit, but its okay. I do like the peachy-pink top that she came with, mainly because of the bit of sequins on her shirt. As for the pants, I wish that they were actual jean cargo pants, like the book cover, not like the yoga -pant look they made. The shoes are cute and I actually like them a lot more than I thought I would. The only comment I have is that the back is opened. I think it would have been cuter to have it just a regular oxford shoe, but its still cute.
Hair Piece: Oh gosh, were do I start? Um... this wasn't a good idea. I like that its separate from the doll herself. The blonde color doesn't match Isabelle's and looks like it would suit my Julie doll better. I found the hooks difficult to find and when I put them in, you could barely see them.
EDIT 4/3/17: If you can find her second, I'd highly recommend purchasing her! I think she's a great addition to any collection <3

My Isabelle just came in yesterday, and I am smitten! I had an OMG moment when I first saw her. She has such gorgeous coloring! The pink hair extensions weren't too difficult to put in, and they've stayed in place through a lot of hair play so far. However, the pink tips aren't easily visible through her thick wig, which is a shame. I was worried about what pigtails might look like on her, and was glad to discover that it is easy to cover all of the wig cap and extension piece by doing a little crisscross parting. The doll gets an A+ from me, but the meet outfit is maybe a B-. The pink ballerina top is cute and soft, but her pants are useless. Maybe I got a bad pair, but aside from the material being stiff, they're just too small. They barely cover her bottom, and I can't even begin to get her to sit while wearing them. Since I display my dolls sitting, that was a big problem for me. Overall, I'm very glad that I bought her! She is gorgeous!

Isabelle is a very pretty doll. She'd be perfect for a first doll for a young girl as her hair is very easy to take care of. It's nice and thick. The extensions were a good idea in theory, but don't really work out well. They're a different shade of blond than her hair and are easily hidden/are difficult to see when her hair is not styled accordingly. The meet outfit is adorable and a change from the dresses/skirts from the other LE girls. Unfortunately, my doll had defects and was returned. Despite that, I give her a B+ for lack of originality and the hairpiece issue. DSC_1979 by clara-oѕwald, on Flickr

Isabelle came home with me on Sept. 8th, 2014, from Natick. Originally I hadn't planned to get her but between pretty display dolls, members' dolls, her books and her movie, I caved. She is so cute and I love her meet outfit and pretty hair and eye combo. While she isn't the most unique doll overall (blonde with hazel eyes and classic mold like Lanie), Isabelle is nevertheless beautiful. She has long straight hair that curls slightly at the ends and she has a unique-to-her magenta pink hair extension piece. I agree that the extension was nice in theory but not in execution. I would much rather have seen three magenta highlight clips a la the Bright and Jewel Highlight sets; while they wouldn't be unique to her, they look better when in the doll's hair and show more color with her hair down. Overall, Isabelle has great hair to style, for younger girls. The highlights would be better to be attached by an older child or an adult as they can be a bit difficult to get in, especially the first time. Isabelle comes in a coral A-lined tee with a ballerina graphic and mesh tulle, sequins and sparkly silver accents that she used to "upcycle" the shirt to make it her own. Isabelle also wears plain coral and light pink undies, silver denim capris with knit cuffs, and sparkly gold sling-back type of shoes with bows. Isabelle has great hair to play with and style. She has a deep side part which does mean that it can lay in her face more than some of the others, when her hair is down. When she arrives, her hair is styled in two small twists on either side that are secured with clear elastic bands. Overall, Isabelle is a great doll! Isabelle says "hi!" I think she looks just like movie-Isabelle here.
Long straight hair for styling. I bought the Bright Highlights set for Isabelle and my other dolls. A video review of Isabelle:

I'm not sure if this post belongs here or in the nurse's office.
We love our Iz. Her hair is lovely and her eyes are a dark hazel that is different from our other hazel-eyed dolls. Her face is symmetrical, her ears are even, and her face paint is just right.
Her meet outfit is one of our favorites with lots of mix and match possibilities.
We were very much looking forward to her hair extensions. We were disappointed. Despite taking her right out of the box and putting the extensions in with a PS and giving it a good shake the extensions just don't stay in. The hooks on our extension (and on a second one a kind AGP member sent us) don't match the loops in Isabelle's head.
Yes, I can re-sew all the hooks so they match the wig loops. But, for the price paid I would not expect to need to do that.
This picture has the two end hooks in. You can see how far off the middle hook is.
This picture has one of the hooks in. You can see how far off the other two are from where they ought to be.
AG did offer to have us come in to the store (2.5 hours away) and exchange the doll. But, she belongs to my daughter who won't hear of it. I wish they'd sorted this out before putting her on the market. I know we're not the only ones who have had wig issues with Isabelle.
It's a shame! Her pink extensions are the thing that makes her different from, "more" than a MyAG. And since they don't work…I'd rather have #24.

Isabelle is by far my favorite doll, so I figured I should give a review. The photos posted are accurate, so I will not be adding any at this time.
I hand picked Isabelle in the store (taking forever to do so). Her hair is nice and thick. Just last month I finally opened the hair extensions. They did not stay in very well and were not visible in her thick wig. Perhaps AG should have just colored her wig tips pink. The hair extension is a bit disappointing but I didn't buy her solely for that, so not a huge loss for me.
I love Isabelle's dark hazel eyes. I like that the decal has several colors to make the hazel and they blend so well together. I love that hazel is darker, just my personal preference.
While my Isabelle never wears her meet outfit, I like the sperates for mixing and matching. I think this offers more play value.
Isabelle is very photogenic. She may not be that different in features, I still find her beautiful. I would definitely recommend her to everyone, especially for a little girls first doll.

I was able to see my friend's Isabelle doll and she is really cute. She seems to be quite versatile and works really well as a 1970's or 1980's girl.
