Slow Cooker Dinner Set (2015-2017)

I have it and like it but would only recommend it if you can suspend belief or make (or commission) a more suitable slow cooker meal. I use the grilled chicken on the camping grill from last year and the fruit cups with an OG breakfast. The broccoli and muffins do not work for me at all. Unless you absolutely can't wait to have it or would hate to miss out on it, I would suggest waiting for a possible sale

Personally, my dolls LOVE it. The food comes "un-clumped" and the rolls look delicious. The fruit salad is cute and colorful. They can mix and match with other food sets. The BBQ sauce, and tongs, and especially the butter dish with the lid that comes off and the little butter knife are all fun pieces to have on the table. And there are two place sittings, so two can eat. I had a $10 off $50 coupon. Would I buy it at full price, again. Probably. But I expect it will probably go on sale.

I love it! What food would you suggest that they should have put in. Stews and spaghetti sauce would be clumped for sure - and hard to make individual servings from Why can't you make chicken pieces in a slow cooker? You could even cook the broccoli in there with it. The grill marks might be a stretch - but that slow cooker is adorable. The crock comes out for service at the table. It has lots of pieces and is a quality piece.

Metal forks and a butter knife
Tongs
Embroidered fabric napkins

The butter dish and metal butter knife are absolutely adorable. You get fabric napkins - not paper. There are glasses of milk, buns, grapefruit, dishes, all adorable.

It is well worth the price and if you can use a code - that brings the price down $10 - or it may go on sale. Who knows.

I highly recommend this for imaginative play. I'm sure that if you don't tell little girls that individual pieces of chicken don't go in a slow cooker (they do at my house) then they can have all sorts of fun cooking up a wonderful, healthy meal for their dolls.

THIS! I wholeheartedly agree...and with jw as well. I was in store the other day and LOVE the idea of the slow cooker and the food it cute but it not something that looks like it has been cooked in a slow cooker. Although I love separate food pieces, bowls of chili, beef stew, or similar would be more appropriate IMO.

I like all the pieces, except the rolls, individually. As a set, it's a little odd for reasons already mentioned. But, I don't use all the pieces all at once, so it's not that big of a deal to me.

IMO, the grilled chicken is one of the best food pieces AG has made. I serve it up with the corn on the cob from the Campus Snack Cart and have a great meal. I purchased small bowls from Factory Direct Crafts and will make a stew to 'serve' from the slow cooker.

I always just figured one would use the slow cooker to cook the chicken. The rolls and broccoli were just side dishes to go with the slow-cooker chicken. I can't thinking of the number of times my slow cooker meal is some type of chicken, where I add a side or two from my microwave.

It does not not have a pretend cord/plug. Dolls don't need it, because their electricity magically goes through the air. Just like dolls can eat their food over and over and it never disappears.

I know that with SOME items, scaled properly would be rather small, and since there are parents who will buy for their much younger children, I think AG makes them bigger to avoid choking and/or to keep them from being easily lost.
And I have seen pre-grilled chicken like that which could be used.

It all comes down to how you think YOU will use it. If I feel the price is uncomfortable, then I don't buy or will try and wait for a sale and see if I still want it then.

I saw it in store and liked it even more than when I first saw it online! The slow cooker was bigger than I expected, and a lot of great pieces come with the set! After seeing it in real life, it is definitely at the top of my want list.

To answer your questions quickly until the member has time to do a review, I have purchased the slow cooker, and I am really happy with it. The cooker is made of plastic, but it appears to be a good scale, at least to my eye. The other pieces are good scale too, I think. The butter dish is the best part, it's adorable! The lid comes off, although the butter stick is stuck to the little blue dish. The butter knife is nice, heavy metal!

Yes, it is kind of weird that the chicken has grill marks, but members have suggested that maybe the person grilled the chicken first a little to get the marks and then put the chicken in the cooker. And, yes, broccoli would likely turn to mush in a slow cooker, but it is still pretty cute, and I applaud AG for having separate food pieces that aren't stuck together!

I recently purchased the slow cooker set because I have a few customers who requested meals to fit in it. I hadn't intended to buy it, don't usually purchase AG food sets. With only a few exceptions, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and detail in this set. I would give this set a solid A for play value and durability and a C for scale. The sizes are just all over the place.

First the slow cooker, or crock pot. It is made of plastic but has a nice heft to it. I think it will stand up to all but the roughest play. It is a realistic silver color with a blue insert, handles, decorations and clear lid. The knobs are bright pink and the main knob can be turned to low or high. The insert is removable to use as a server. It is a bit smaller than I'd like. It is 9.5 x 7 x 5.5 cm tall. At 1/3 scale, it translates to about 10 3/4 inches wide, considerably smaller than our oval slow cooker.

The napkins and potholder are pink cloth with silver embroidery. Very cute, nice quality. The napkins are 7 cm square. Again a bit small. We use cloth napkins and the only napkins that small are cocktail napkins.

The plates are plastic. Dinner plates are blue, bread plate is green. All are decorated with thin white lines. I like the versatility. You could mix and match these pretty easily. Dinner plates are 9 cm; bread plate is 4.7 cm Appropriate 1/3 scale.

The knife and butter dish. Knife is metal, butter and dish are plastic. This is so cute. Blue bottom, clear removable top. dd, 12 hates that the butter is not removable. 6.2 cm long, again a bit smaller than the real life counterpart, adjusted for scale, the cube of butter nearly an inch shorter than our real cube of butter.

The glasses of milk are fine. Plastic, cute design, not terribly realistic. The milk looks very solid to me.

Chicken. I know several people are unhappy with the chicken. It is improbably grilled for a slow cooker meal. I think it is one of the best food items AG has done. The color is nice, texture is good, scale is appropriate and it is detailed on both sides. Approximately 5 x 3 cm.

Broccoli is not as good as the chicken. Large, green and lumpy. Still, I'm glad to see veggies on the plate.

The fruit outside is well done, nice color and texture. The chunks of fruit are a bit of a puzzle. I see raspberries but I'm not sure what the other two things are. Again though, fruit is always a good idea.

The barbecue sauce is meh, cute enough but it definitely looks like a toy and our sticker is already coming loose and it has not been played with at all. It has just been sitting on my shelf waiting for this review.

Last, the rolls. I wanted to like these. The color is fine, the texture is ok. But they are HUGE! In real life they would be 4 and 1/2 inches tall. I cannot make them look ok with any of the other food. The too-big rolls next to the too-small slow cooker is especially bothersome. I've placed the rolls next to the butter and I'm using a photo with one of AG's mugs just to show what I mean. The mug does not come with this set

The forks are metal, standard AG forks. The tongs are plastic, I could see these breaking over time.
