Tenney’s banjo is easy for her to hold and features strings to strum and a button to press that plays three original songs—it works with her amplifier too (sold separately). This set also includes a removable strap and a thumb pick.
Please note:
Requires 3 AAA batteries; adult assembly required.
Wow! I can't believe how much detail is packed into this tiny banjo!
The banjo has some heft and the wire strings can be gently strummed for a tiny but satisfying pling-pling. Gentle! I don't imagine it would hold up to vigorous play.
On the downside, the "metallic" parts are painted plastic and there are dozens of tiny little knobs and pieces that could snap off. A particular stress point to be aware of is where the buckle of the strap hooks onto the banjo itself.
The banjo and strap are perfectly proportioned and balanced and the banjo fits perfectly into Tenney hands--it slipped into place with almost no effort and stays balanced in her hand/s.
The tiny banjo is adorable and I thank AG for working to this level of detail. I am not a guitar or banjo player, but I am a classically trained musician who knows her way around instruments and this piece has all the working-details down right. This is not always the case for AG--their "one piece" flute with the bottom 1/3 of the instrument keys incorrectly rotated as to be entirely un-holdable and unplayable comes to mind.
Perhaps one of the best feature are the 3 tunes the banjo plays! Place batteries inside, flick on the "on" switch on the backside of the banjo, and then press the tiny silver button near the rim of the banjo head. Voila! Too cute!
While I caution there are fragile aspects to this accessory, I give this piece an A+ because of its nod to realism, the gorgeous stenciled design, the strings that can be strummed, and the real tunes that can be played with a press of a button.
