This item was released in 2016 and retired in 2021.It’s the night before Melody’s birthday, and her grandparents have a surprise to share! Just in time for her first Watch Night, they give her a fancy new coat she can wear to the church service. The double-breasted coat is golden brocade with golden faux-fur collar and cuffs. A warm faux-fur hat and white gloves complete the outfit.
The material of this coat feels thin but it looks lovely. The fabric is very fancy with the gold threads woven into it. The fur collar rides up over her face, which I dislike. Her buttons really button in front, which I love. I have not put on the gloves, because i generally don't like how AG doll gloves look. The coat comes with a matching hat, which stays well on her head.

Here’s a photo of Gabriela modeling this outfit, followed by some more description and thoughts about each piece. The coat is made of a pretty gold and white brocade with a diamond pattern woven into it. There are three pairs of clear rounded buttons on the front, each trimmed in gold. The buttons are highly reflective and decorative, and the three on the right (as you look at the coat) are also functional, buttoning into tiny buttonholes. Although the coat is described as double breasted and looks double breasted when closed, it’s not actually designed that way. Instead, the closure is just off-centered and the buttons on the left (as you look at the coat) are just decorative. I think this can make the coat hang a little wonky sometimes, and can also make the neckline look strange sometimes if the top is open, although you can adjust it to look okay. The collar and cuffs are trimmed with golden faux fur that matches the hat. I think the color looks really pretty with the rest of the coat, and also makes it look very cozy! A couple more comments about the coat: First, I’m thrilled that Melody has a winter coat; every girl needs one. Second, I like how it’s the perfect length to go over her Christmas dress or other similar length dresses. That said, I wish the coat were lined and that it had pockets. That would boost this from a good coat to an excellent one in my eyes. The faux fur hat is really lovely. It matches the trim on the coat perfectly. It lays down flat (except for the stuffed fuzz ball on top), and it's made of stretchy fabric so the dolls can wear it easily, without it being either too snug or falling off. And finally, the white “gloves” are made out of slightly shiny fabric with elastic around the wrists. They are really only mittens, and lack any individual detailing for separate fingers. With a few exceptions, I’m generally not a fan of AG mittens or gloves, and I’m not a fan of these. Overall, I’d give this outfit a B, maybe a B+, mostly because of the cute overall look and because Melody needs a coat. I like the fabric, buttons, trim, and hat, and if the coat were re-released with a true double breast, pockets, and lining, I would probably rate it higher.
