When Maryellen’s family hits the road, they cook meals with this 1950s-era set. Everyone has to pitch in (except for her sister Joan, who burns everything!):
A pretend fire that really glows inside a faux-stone fire pit A cooking rack that sits over the fire with hooks for a tea kettle and a pot A frying pan and spatula for making a pretend egg, pancakes, and breakfast patties A pretend box of pancake mix A plate, cup, and fork for mealtime
Play value is high with this set! Several pieces are real metal, such as fork and spatula. The dark blue splatterware is excellently made, lids are removable, food interchangeable on the pan or plate, cooking pieces can be hung on hooks or on the grill, and of course the "real" glowing embers inside the fire pit.
Fire pit requires 3 AAA batteries and the fire glow lasts 60 seconds per cycle (button on side of unit) before an auto shut off.
While the set is not absolute perfection, for example I think the seams of the fire pit are too noticeable, overall the piece says "Play with me!!" loud and clear. Price is far more affordable and reachable for many customers than the amazing (and expensive) Airstream Travel Trailer so I am very very very pleased AG offered this as a separate set rather than bundling it with the Airstream.
