This item is a revised version of the Winter Jacket, which retired in 2018. This version was introduced in 2019. It went on final sale in December 2022 and retired in early 2023.
Rebecca stays warm in the cold New York winter in this outfit, featuring:
A lined velveteen swing coat with faux-fur at the collar and cuffs, and fancy frog closures with purple buttons.
A matching velveteen hat with a satin bow
A white faux-fur muff to keep her hands warm.
Rebecca's Winter Coat (or Winter Coat & Hat, as it says on the package) was released in October 2019 and retails for $42. It is very similar to Rebecca's Beforever Winter Jacket, which was sold in 2017-2018 and retailed for $34 at full price. Because of the similarities, I'll include some comparisons in this review.
Here's the website description of the outfit, along with my thoughts and some photos:
Rebecca stays warm in the cold New York winter in this outfit, featuring:
A lined velveteen swing coat with faux-fur at the collar and cuffs, and fancy frog closures with purple buttons. This is a nice shade of dark purplish blue, which appears to be just a bit deeper in color than the original jacket. The faux-fur color and cuffs are bright white, which looks cozy and stands out nicely against the deep shade of the rest of the coat. The corded frog closures are a lighter purple in color and they attach to coordinating purple buttons, with a single snap at the top of the coat. There are also matching buttons on each side, securing a decorative belt. (The belt doesn't go all the way around; it is only on the sides.) The lining of the coat is a purplish blue which goes all the way to the collar and to the inside of the sleeves. As you can see in the pictures below, the main differences in the current version of the coat and the earlier version are the lining and the closures. (The older version is on the left in pictures with both coats.)
Inside the older version:
Inside the current version;
(I saw somewhere that someone was speculating that the plastic vanity tag might have been removed from the newer version, but that's not true. Both versions have the same little plastic oval-shaped tag sewn on the front. It's covered in my photo, but it's visible in real life and in the picture on the package that the outfit comes in.)
A matching velveteen hat with a satin bow. The color of this hat matches the coat well. The brim goes all the way around and it is adorned with a ribbon that's tied into a pretty bow. I don't see any differences between the first version of this piece, on the left in this picture, and the current one, which is on the right.
A white faux-fur muff to keep her hands warm. As you can see above, the two versions of this piece are also very similar if not identical. The faux fur on the muff matches the collar and cuffs of the coat, and it has some elastic bands on the inside which I assume are to help keep it secure when Rebecca is using it.
Overall, I think that the current version of Rebecca's Winter Coat is a very nicely made and attractive piece. $42 is a little steep in my opinion and I'd probably only give it a B at full price, but the quality doesn't disappoint and I'd easily give it an A if purchased at a discount.
