This item was part of a February 2018 release that included Maryellen's Vacation Playsuit, Campfire Cooking Accessories, Airstream Travel Trailer, and other items. It retired in 2019.
At Yellowstone, Maryellen is thrilled to watch Old Faithful erupt. And she’ll need this gear to hunt for her missing dog, Scooter. (Will she find him?):
A 1950s-style flashlight that really glows
A miniature brochure and guide to Yellowstone National Park
A plaid-detailed satchel to hold everything—Mom embroidered Maryellen’s initials on the front.
SKU#: FNN13
This set was available from 2018-2019 and retailed for $25. It was part of a release that included the Airstream trailer, campfire cookstove, and vacation play suit. I think I purchased it on sale or maybe using a rewards certificate, but after looking through everything I actually think it’s worth the full retail price.
The flashlight is just adorable and looks very vintage. It’s made of yellow plastic with a red handle and silver spotlight, and it says American Girl and Ray-O-Vac on the side. It turns on and off with a button on the top. I don’t know if it will turn off automatically if left on too long. It’s a little tricky for a doll to hold without the help of a rubber band or awkward positioning of the flashlight, but this negative is outweighed in my opinion by (1) it actually works and (2) it even comes with batteries already installed (3 1.5V).

Awkwardly holding the flashlight:
I think the satchel has some nice features, even though it doesn't feel like it's a super high quality item. The strap is just the right length to comfortably sling over a doll’s shoulder. It has some reinforcement at the top, a cute plaid design, and the inside is roomy enough to easily hold the flashlight. It closes with just a tiny bit of Velcro on the flap, underneath the silver thing that looks like it could be a snap.
The satchel by itself:
It’s handy not just for summertime hikes with a flashlight, but also taking along a thermos of hot chocolate in the winter. I like how the plaids from this and her winter sets look together!
The map and guide to Yellowstone are so much fun! They might just be paper, but lots of play value in my opinion.
Front and back of each:
All in all, an easy A+ from me. It’s too bad this set has already been retired.
