This item was part of a February 2020 release that included Melody's Easter Accessories and other other items. It retired in December 2023.
Melody will look her finest for Easter Sunday church in this springy outfit:
*A green dress with inverted pleats and daisy appliques on the skirt
*Diamond-pattern knee socks
*T-strap Mary Jane shoes with buckles
SKU#: GMF86 $28
This cute dress is part of Melody’s February 2020 release.
The dress is well made and nicely finished. The front of the sleeveless bodice is made of several panels, which become inverted pleats at waist level. There are a total of seven appliquéd daisies arranged in two rows near the bottom of the front.
The daisies are white fabric with yellow centers; because they’re only attached in the center, the overhang the inverted pleats. They seem to be made of the same kind of material as most AG flowers.
The back of the dress is made of just two flat panels without pleats or flowers. I don’t think you’d want the back fussy in real life, so it doesn’t bother me that it’s more plain. However, mine is a little puckered under the Velcro strip, and I’m hoping that will eventually smooth out. A belt is sewn into the side seams and tied in a simple bow.
The knee socks are well made, definitely not like the poor quality ones a few years ago that would start unraveling as soon as you pulled them up. They’re white with a diamond pattern woven in.
The shiny shoes match the dress perfectly. They are t-strap Mary Janes with faux gold colored buckles sewn over the Velcro closure. The style reminds me of Kit’s pink candy-making shoes, but besides being a different color, these are also sturdier and better made. I had no problem with the fit.
Overall, I really like this outfit and think it’s a good value for the price. The bright spring green looks especially nice on dolls with Melody’s complexion. I also think that while it’s very clearly a springtime dress, the look can sometimes be changed up quite easily by wearing bobby socks or sandals.
Grade: A
ETA: I wanted to add to and correct my earlier comments...
First, after getting out Kit’s candy making shoes, I realized that these differ in more than just the color - these feel much more solid and sturdy and are definitely a better quality. I fixed that comment above.
Secondly, I wanted to show what the inside of the dress looks like in order to give a better idea of its construction. The first picture shows the inside of the front bodice from the open back, and the second picture shows the dress completely inside out:
(You can see bits of the sewn daisy centers near the bottom of the last photo.)
And lastly, I just wanted to share some more photos of Cécile wearing the dress as she celebrates with Gabriela.
