Please ignore the pies in the pictures! I thought they went with this but instead go with the city market goodies!
The market is bustling and dolls can sell their pretend fresh food and handmade wares with this set. It includes:
A two-tiered market stand made of wood and metal
A patterned fabric table runner to use for display
A mason jar vase
One bunch of flowers
Three tiered display boxes for displaying jam, soap, and scones
A display cloth for under the scones
Four berry scones
A jar each of rhubarb jam, apricot jam, and raspberry jam
Two scented bars of pine soap and two bars of lavender soap with paper label wraps
Two fruit containers with blueberries and strawberries
A square sample plate for setting out tastes
A jam bowl with a jam sample
Three sample scone pieces in cups
A metal spreader knife for the jam
A two-sided paperboard table sign
A two-sided faux chalkboard sidewalk sign
A denim apron with a screen-printed graphic and front pocket
Five faux dollar bills
Two paper business cards
Two natural brown paper boxes for packing up goodies
One sticker sheet for the sidewalk sign and one sticker sheet for labeling boxes and jam jars
Retail: $100
Grade: B
I just had to have this set, but not at $100. I got it on sale and I'm sure it will be marked down again before it leaves because $100 is too much for what is here. Honestly, you're paying for the stand mostly. Metal supports and wood boards. It's really nice.
The accessories are lacking, but cute. It is nice that pieces seaparate, like the berries from the container and jam from the bowl. But the play value in this set is really the stand. So many possibilities! Because "market" could be used to sell anything, your dolls could sell everything.
I do love the apron and the stickers. Also the plain brown boxes you can put the stickers on! That increases the creativity.
My two biggest strikes after the cost are the cheap plastic sign and the smelly soap. The sign already has one side written out so you can't change it, with the other side being blank. You're supposed to put stickers on it, but I would have preferred a chalk board. Putting stickers on limits the possibilities and I've never had success removing stickers all that cleanly. And it really is cheap plastic compared to the heft of the stand itself. Secondly, the smelly soap. They told us it smelled, but my nose was not ready when I opened the box! I have sensitivity to smells so I put the soaps outside to air out. They aren't so bad now, but just be warned!
So yeah, great, but wait for a sale.
