Here is a photo of a Courtney doll still in the box.
Her curly hair is special and interesting. Except of this, I have to say she doesn’t do much to my large collection. I like her meet outfit more than herself. Her meet outfit is probably one of my favorites as it really speaks for the time.
In real life, Courtney doesn’t look very close to Maryellen. They only have the same side bang. I prefer Maryellen’s coloring more than Courtney’s.
These photos will give you some ideas of her colors and face mold. Her eye color is darker than the original light blue, lighter than dark blue and almost the same lightness as Saige’s.
I ordered Courtney 20 minutes after her release... and due to FedEx being FedEx, I've still yet to receive the package (she's been in shipping limbo for 2 weeks now). I called AG CS a little over a week ago and they offered to get me a free return label if I decided to buy another Courtney – so I went down to AGDC and picked one out in person.
She is absolutely adorable.
I was initially disappointed by the leaks (not in the least because AG has plenty of white blonde classic mold dolls), and I'm not a huge fan of the classic mold (I say even though most of my favorite dolls are classic molds), but she is SO much cuter in person!
I renamed mine Mirjam and made her a West Berlin girl to fit in with my other 80s dolls better, but she is easily one of the most adorable dolls I've ever seen.
Her hair is probably my favorite thing about her - it's not crunchy like the CYO curly hair or Gabriela's hair. It's soft and what's more: it looks and feels like naturally curly hair for once! No, the hair isn't perfectly uniformly curly. Courtney (as a character) has naturally curly hair, and it shows in the doll. I love her curls so much for that reason!
Her coloring is interesting and unique; while her lip paint, hair color, and eye color can give the impression in stock photos (or even non-stock solo photos) that she has the lightest skin tone (like Blaire), she actually has the same old "normal" light skin tone that AG's been using since 1986. Her hair is definitely more of a honey blonde with hints of strawberry, and her eyes are darker than the regular blue; here she is with my Lindsey and my Nellie:
As you can see, her hair and eye color aren't terribly far off from Nellie, although Nellie's hair is redder and her eyes are darker.
There does seem to be a trend with some Courtney dolls having "shorter" teeth (most likely an issue of where the stamp fell in production), but when I picked mine out in person, I found the "shorter" teeth more charming and endearing on her, so that's what I went for. I know not everyone is inclined to agree, but I think she's perfect.
Easily an A+ from me

Oh miss Courtney! I love this doll, I think she is quite striking and unique. I love that her hair is more a natural curl and not perfect spirals following the book. I can see it getting messy fast. One side came messy but it was very easy to finger curl back into curls. I haven't tried styling it beyond that and probably won't do much with it. We have two because my daughter also wanted one of course. Both are great quality and adorable. There is not a thing I would change about her. This has been the only doll I have gone out and bought everything for so fast, Well, besides Melody. She is right up there with Melody on the cuteness scale, in my opinion. It must be the bangs.
Her meet outfit is really fun. I love the bright colors and acid wash denim skirt. Very nice and well made. It really hits those 80's notes. All the clothes mix and match so well together too. She and her wardrobe have been a lot of fun.
I'm going to have to rename mine because we can't have two Courtneys. I'm thinking Cindy or Stephanie, or maybe even Andie.
Thanks for sharing so many pics! and for posting comparison of Courtney with other dolls! As well as for your comments.
I love Courtney and her time period. I can totally relate to it
Can't have all the dolls I'd like... so I try to get dolls that all look different. If she would have had a different hair color and face mold I would have bought her! Pity the CYO's curly hair is different, that would have been a way to work it out.
