Tights: A
Standard AG tights. They have silver sparkles woven into them, so they’re fun and pretty. I’m also pleased to report that I haven’t had any issues with the sparkles shedding so far. They slide onto the doll easily (for tights). No complaints here!
Dress: A+
This is simple, but pretty! It’s made of soft, wintery blue material with plenty of sparkles! It reminds me of a snowy day…which I’m sure was the point 😉! The sleeves are long (I like the cuffs!) and the hem hits just above the doll’s knees. I’m pleased to have a nice, long-sleeved winter dress from AG!
It opens in the back with non-snag Velcro for easy dressing. The fit is a little snug – Hekla was made from a mid-2000s Kit and it’s tight on her! There’s no way this would fit a chunkier PC girl.
It looks white in my picture, but it's definitely a pale blue in real life.
I really wish AG wouldn’t sew those plastic tags onto all of their outfits. I won’t hold it against the dress, but I’d be lying if I said it didn’t bother me.
Stupid tag.
Vest: A-
Made from soft, white faux fur, it’s just a vest…but a pretty one. The belt actually opens and closes (it just slips through the buckle, so it’s pretty easy). The belt sheds a bit of glitter, but I haven’t noticed it being too bad. The sparkly belt complements the sparkles in the dress.
My issue with it is the fabric. The faux fur feels a bit cheap to me and I could see it looking worn and dirty pretty quickly.
It does look pretty cute over the dress.
Boots: A-
I love the look of these…but I’m a sucker for winter doll boots! They’re fashionable with white, crisscrossing straps and faux fur trim. They look like they’d be warm and durable for your doll’s winter party needs. They open in the back with Velcro to make them easier to put on (just mind snagging the tights when you’re doing so). Key word there is “should” make them easier…I struggled to get them on. And I don’t know if Hekla’s legs are thicker than the current dolls, but I struggled to get the boots fully Velcroed again. They also look tight on her feet (I the right light, I can see the outline of her toes!). Still, they look really nice with the rest of the outfit!
Hekla's poor toes :-(
Headband: A
This is simple, but still looks nice. It’s made of hard, yet still somewhat bendable plastic and is covered in glitter. Like the belt, it sheds a bit. It’s easy to put in the doll’s hair and stays once in place.
And can I just say, kudos to AG for not giving it a huge tag like they have some of their other headbands.
No tag to have to hide!
Booklet: This or That?
I’m not going to rate this, but I wanted to mention that it was included. It has about 20, winter-themed “this or that” type questions. Just some fun to have with friends, I guess. I wonder if AG is going to start including these in more of the outfits…kind of like the grin pins, mini books, charms, and Innerstar U codes of years past.
Sorry, I know it's upside down and I don't know how to fix it!
Good Value?
I paid $36 for this outfit at the AG Store in Columbus. That’s pretty average for an outfit with shoes and a hair accessory, so I’m not complaining. The quality of parts of it are a little eh, but I wouldn’t say it’s a bad value overall.
Overall: A
I got this because I wanted another winter outfit and really liked the combination of blue, white, and sparkles. I really wish the dress and boots fit Hekla a little better since she’s the doll I had in mind when I got it, but it’s possible that these issues don’t exist with a more recent doll. PC girls are very unlikely to fit into it. My issues with parts of it aside, it’s still a very pretty outfit with some nice pieces. I imagine that it would look nice on almost any doll and it’s perfect for the winter season.
It may not be snowy yet, but Hekla is ready for it!
