When Joss is getting ready for a big cheer competition, she makes sure all her essentials are packed up in her bag.
SKU#: GKX63 $40
Here are the AG descriptions of what the set includes, along with some more photos and comments:
A glittery rose-gold Nfinity® backpack to hold all her cheer essentials. This is a nice, big bag. It has three separate zippered compartments (the very spacious main compartment and two smaller pockets in the back), plus mesh pockets on the sides that would be good for a water bottle etc. The zippers and pockets are all functional. There’s a loop at the top of the backpack (just like in real life), and the shoulder straps are also adjustable. I like the rose-gold sparkly color, and it looks good with the black zippers and white Nfinity logo. The glittery fabric does feel rough, and when the backpack came out, I remember hearing concerns that it might snag clothes. For what it’s worth, when I put it on over Joss’s practice jacket, it sounded like it might snag it, but I looked carefully afterwards and didn’t see any evidence of this. Grade: A.
A makeup kit to help the judges see her expressive face. This is a black plastic box that says “Cheer Pallette” in blue lettering and has the swirling star decoration. The box opens to show a mirror, removable brush (real), and a palette of five makeup colors (fake). I don’t have any particular interest in this piece, but I do appreciate some of its detailed playable features, and I’m also slightly annoyed by the spelling. Grade: B.
A big, sparkly cheer bow to complete her look. Yep, a big sparkly turquoise bow. I’m showing it here next to the pink cheer bow that came with her Cheer Competition Outfit just for size comparison. I’m not personally a fan of this type of bow, but that’s just me. Grade: B.
Ankle socks with a cheer graphic. These are cute. They have turquoise toes and heels, two thin turquoise stripes at the top, and the word “CHEER” written in lime green with turquoise stripes and a star. I think it’s a nice extra for when she’s not wearing shoes, but I don’t think they’d fit very well inside of her cheer shoes. Grade: B+.
A teasing comb and hair styling tool that can change between curling iron and straightener for last-minute hair fixes. This is a really nice addition. The comb worked well for combing Joss’s hair (I didn’t try teasing it!), and the hair style tool is nicely made with a handle that Joss can hold, an actual on/off switch that moves, and functional clamps and both the curling iron and straightener. (They don’t clamp on her hair too tightly, but Joss can open them and they can can clamp down loosely.) The handle works on both the straightener and curling iron by way of a plastic plug-in piece. I’m not sure how well these would hold up to heavy play, but I think they’re a smart design and imagine the target age would have a lot of fun with these. Grade: A (maybe A+ if they hold up to play over time).
A set of hairbands and bobby pins to keep stray hairs in place during the competition. This part includes four hairbands (white, black, turquoise, and pink) and five brown bobby-pins. I would have personally liked two of each color of the hairbands, since my Joss tends to wear her hair in two braids or buns, but still a really nice addition and very functional. Grade: A.
Overall, I think that Joss’s Nfinity Cheer Backpack Set has lots of little goodies that can appeal on different levels. It’s a little pricey and I’m not completely sold on the backpack fabric, so my overall grade will be a B.
