Evette Peeters is a nature lover who is full of crafty ideas for reusing and upcycling clothes. But Evette never thought borrowing clothes from Gran E’s closet would uncover a family secret—or that her work to clean up the polluted river in her town might be a way to heal the rift in her family too. Her set includes:

Evette 18" Doll - $110.00 She has the Josefina face mold and is the #20-tone -- the "classic/original medium", matching like Josefina, TM #66, Luciana, etc. Evette comes with a zip-tie, good quality body fabric and grey eyes. 2017 body tag. Evette's meet dress is rayon (or feels just like rayon), very drapey. It is very orange in a nice, bright way -- not gold as suggested in some of the stock photos. There are little cotton thread belt loops on the side (one on each side) to hold the black vinyl belt. The belt has a real metal bright-gold-tone "buckle" (it's the kind you feed the belt through, but there are no holes). I was surprised, because the belt feels a lot nicer than I had expected. It's black vinyl on both sides. The boots are a thin printed vinyl with plastic soles. If you've had Blaire's brown boots (from the casual dress outfit), they're very similar in feel -- though no heels. These WBU dolls have completely unique face paint, when it comes to AG dolls. Their eyebrows are thicker/fuller, and they have eye makeup (eyelashes) painted along the edge of their eye sockets. Each doll has her own unique pattern. Evette also has her own unique freckle pattern! As far as picking out the doll, it was average for sorting through Josefina mold faces. There were a lot of dolls available in the Columbus AGP store to choose from (about twenty boxes), and she seemed decently consistent in face paint from doll to doll. Definitely a doll best chosen in person (if possible), just like any other Josefina face mold. She has the typical issues with eye placement, thin/full face, etc. But this is an amazing doll! This is a very nice wig. Unlike the AG wigs from TM #44 or #26, or Gabriela or the CYO "medium tight/natural curly" option, this is a soft wig. It does not feel coated or hard in any way. While it photographs to look curly, it's really more like a perm. They're not ringlets at all. I haven't done anything to the original wig yet, so I'm not sure on the level of care needed. The color is the golden dark blonde two-tone of GOTY Lea's hair (with Evette having just a few more highlights). AG listed this as Caramel, which matches the wig of TM #81. Yes, that dark blonde/caramel color is the base, but this has the more highlighted two-tone look of Lea. This photos compares Lea's wig with Evette's wig. Something that I noticed about Evette while trying wigs on was the difference in her skin tone. She's sold and listed by AG as having the #20-tone classic/normal medium tone that has been used on dolls like Josefina, etc. Well, when I tried on the red wigs, I realized that something was different. She looked very good in the red wigs, which is unusual for most AG dolls (it can be hard to get the tones matched well for the dark red wigs). That prompted me to pull out another #20-tone medium doll to compare. Photos here show Evette with my Bethany (a 2016 TM #62 head on a Lea body). In order for the camera to pick up the tonal difference, I have them both wearing dark red CYO wigs. Note how much redder and darker in tone Bethany (right) is from Evette. And these two dolls are sold as the same skin tone. As a final photo, here's a picture of the three WBU girls together!

Evette is a beautiful doll! Her freckles are a new pattern and the color is very subtle and pretty on her medium toned vinyl. Her eyebrows are a new and thicker shape than other AG eyebrows. Below is a comparison photo of Evette's hair next to Courtney's. Courtney's hair is described as "sandy blonde" while Evette's is "caramel". The texture is completely different too and Evette's hair is very soft compared to Courtney's which has more of that crunch feel to it. I haven't done much styling to her hair yet, but I think it will be easier to maintain than I originally thought. Her meet dress is a lightweight material and hangs nicely. I like that they gave her long sleeves. At first glance the boots don't seem to go with her outfit very well, but they have the same pink and turquoise colored flowers that are on her dress.

I am enjoying my new friend Evette so much! We are bonding like crazy. This is my first Josefina mold and I think she is just stunning. I have to thank bingandnelsonfan for her pictures as they inspired me to choose an Evette with a higher forehead, instead of one whose wig sits lower on her forehead. This makes the difference for me. I love her skin tone, her freckle pattern, her beautiful eyes and more pronounced lip color. One word of warning. While her hair is beautiful and my girl had a really thick wig, when you first take the hair out of the net, let the curls fall on their own to losen up. I finger-combed then to pull the curls down and that made the hair frizz. I had to spray some water and wig spray on it to get rid of some of the frizz. I am really happy with my Evette.

Evette is such an appealing doll! She's currently on sale for $65 and will very likely disappear soon, so I couldn't resist bringing her home while I had the chance. There are already great reviews of her, so I'm just going to add a few more photos. First, here she is out of the box. AG's official description no longer says her hair comes "in a half up style," and sure enough, once you take the hairnet out, her hair falls naturally around her shoulders. I don't know if the earlier versions of Evette came with her hair partially up, or if that part of the description was a mistake. I agree with what's already been said about good quality body fabric (no annoying neck wrinkles), zip tie, grey eyes, and painted lashes. I really like her subtle freckles, too. I think the dress is cute and hangs well but is definitely on the short side. I think it might look a little better if it were just a quarter inch longer, or if it were worn with taller boots. Other than that, I like it. I like the long sleeves with elastic cuffs and the double bands of lace trim, the little flounce at the bottom of the skirt, and the v-neck (which I didn't initially realize is a separate piece of fabric from the bodice). I also like the belt, which I think it well-proportioned for this outfit. V-neck dress: Crocheted lace on sleeves: Close up of dress fabric: I'm not really a fan of the boots. The color is okay (and the flowers do echo the flowers of the dress), but they're lightweight and just don't really appeal to me. I would have preferred them to be taller, or even better, if AG had packaged her with the platform shoes that are mentioned prominently in Evette's book. Overall I really like the doll and think she's a great deal and an easy A at $65. I'm excited to see what kind of personality she takes on at this house, and what she might look like if she time travels to different historical periods, although I'll undoubtedly keep some of the core parts of her personality the same, too! ETA: My intention is that Evie might time travel to different periods here. So far she’s only visited the 1990s, but I think she looks right at home in the plaid skirt and sweater outfit. I may add other photos as she visits other decades.
