This was one of my first and favorite pieces in Kira’s collection. Here’s the official AG description, along with additional photos and thoughts about each piece.
SKU#: GVF55 $30
In the Australian bush it’s hot during the day, but gets cold when the sun goes down. Kira is ready to go out observing birds or searching for a lost wombat with this set that includes:
A zip-front khaki jacket with contrasting print sleeves, pockets, and an embroidered flower graphic on the chest - This is a very nicely made, quality cargo jacket. The torso is khaki with purple stitching and the sleeves have a khaki, purple, and white diamond print design. There’s also a purple and pink embroidered flower on the chest, a working zipper up the front, a functional purple drawstring at the waist, and two functional pockets on the lower part of the jacket along with two faux pockets on the chest. The inside of the collar is lined with the same print fabric that’s on the sleeves. The colors go really well with the other pieces in Kira’s collection (Gabby’s modeling it over the long sleeved purple t-shirt from Kira’s Wildlife Care Outfit), and I love all the little details and functional aspects of this jacket. Here are some more close ups:
A pair of tortoiseshell sunglasses - These have large frames for plenty of eye protection. The tortoiseshell looks nice with Kira’s blond hair, and I think they look nice on Gabriela, too. Like most (all?) AG glasses, the arms can be folded when not in use.
A multicolored print knit scarf to wear over her mouth to keep out blowing sand or around her neck to keep warm in the cooler evenings - This is a fairly simple piece (a single piece of stretchy fabric, serged in the sides and gathered on the ends, where it closes with Velcro). I like the bold color, pretty pattern, and functionality. It can be worn different ways, and the Velcro closure makes it easy to wrap around the neck without messing up any hair. On the other hand, the print is only on one side, so if it’s not tucked just so, it looks kind of sloppy and inexpensive with the serging or unprinted side showing. Here’s what it looks like off the doll, and some of the ways it can be worn:
Worn around the neck to keep warm:
Worn over the mouth and nose to keep out sand or to use as a cloth mask:
Worn on the head to pull back hair (I had to stretch it to do this):
I imagine it could also be used to wrap up one of the joeys that Kira takes care of, but I didn’t think of that while I was taking photos.
Here’s one more photo, comparing the fabric pattern of this scarf (on the bottom) with the sleeves of her jacket (top right) and the pattern on the backpack from her Accessories set (top left):
Overall, I really like this set, particularly the detailed cargo jacket and the versatile scarf. I give it a strong A and in my opinion it’s worth the full $30 retail price.
