This furry white jacket is one of the Holiday 2022 pieces that mixes and matches with other items from the American Girl x Janie and Jack collaboration.
Description:
This warm and cozy coat—designed in collaboration with Janie and Jack—is the perfect luxe layer for a standout, stylish holiday. Product features: Our Cream and Sugar plush faux-fur coat has a mock-neck collar and full-length sleeves. $20
Additional details:
This faux fur jacket is thick and very soft. Despite the "cream and sugar" in the description, the color is a bright white, and not cream. The jacket is lined and it has a tag in the inside seam, and the jacket closes in the front with a short strip of Velcro near the neck line. The white Velcro blends in well with the white of the jacket, so the strip is not overly noticeable when the jacket is open. The actual opening to the jacket is off-center, with the mock-neck collar closing to the left of the doll's chin (to the right from the viewer’s perspective). The jacket is waist-length all the way around; it's not any longer in the back than it is in the front. I didn't think to try the coat on over the sweaters that come in this collection, but it fits well over short sleeves. I'll update this later if I try it over the sweaters.
Pros:
This seems like a very nice quality jacket, which is well-made and feels as soft as it looks. I like the bright white color and the simple closure. The doll looks very cozy while wearing it.
Cons:
With the mock-neck and off-center closure, I think the doll will always look bundled up when wearing this jacket (whether the Velcro is closed or not), which means that it only makes sense to me as an outdoor, cold-weather jacket. Personally I prefer a little more versatility, with something that can be left open in order to see a hint of the top worn underneath, and perhaps worn indoors or in a more temperate climate. This is just a personal preference, though.
Grade:
My overall impression is that this is a nice, well made piece that can at least be used over the dresses that came in this collection and with short-sleeve and sleeveless tops in other years. While not my preferred style, the quality is there and it's a cute, cozy, and attractive addition to a winter wardrobe. My overall grade is a B.
With the beret and boots from this collection, and the Something Navy Blooms of Blue dress:
Close up of the white faux fur, mock neck, and off-center closure:
A glimpse of the white lining (and also a view of how well the little white Velcro strip on the jacket’s closure blends in with the white faux fur):
From the back:
It comes on a thick cardboard hanger, marked with both American Girl and Janie and Jack):
Outfit suggestions on the back of the package:
