I picked up the back to school set today at AGPLA since we only had one backpack amongst our squad of dolls.
Item F8339-CF1A $26
The set includes one purple backpack with a light green bottom. Flowered embroidery on the front in bright pink and light green. There is one mesh side pocket as well as a mesh zippered pocket on the inside. The zipper pulls are all silver and shaped like stars. It comes with a small water bottle, an American Girl library card, a Smart girl's planner with pages set up like dayplanners, a School Smarts Homework survival guide with printed tips, the heart print notebook has blank pages inside and the green binder has three rings inside that actually work. You can pinch the clips together to open the rings and insert the heart notebook.
I was surprised by the working three ring binder so I gave it an A.

I picked this up as a special "with purchase" so it was $14 instead of the usual $26. I already planned to buy it, so finding it on sale was a bonus, especially so soon after it was released. I give this set an A.
I was delighted to find that the backpack is so detailed! There are two zippered outside compartments, the main zipper to get inside, and on the inside there is the mesh zippered pocket previously mentioned, and also a plain pocket. On one of the shoulder straps is an ID tag that can be filled in by the new owner.
I, too, was surprised to find that the 3-ring binder opens and closes -- wow! That's a nice detail, especially with the 3-hole paper that comes with it. The paper has a faint pattern on it.
I haven't seen inside the girl-size books that these miniatures emulate, but they appear to be complete inside, and can be read, especially if you have a magnifying glass.
All in all, the accessories are cute, and the backpack is pretty sweet! I plan to get the Jumper & Boots outfit someday, and as Monimarine showed in her photos they look great together.

My daughter purchased this set with her Christmas money and we noticed the zipper pulls have been changed from the original star shaped ones. Here is a photo of my older backpack and hers, side by side; as you can see, nothing has changed but the pulls.
And a close up of the new flat star imprinted pull
My daughter loved the set and was happy with her purchase, but since the pictures on the AG website still show the old style pulls I thought I would document the change her for future reference. This backpack is sturdy and will hold up to years of play so it should be around for quite awhile, one way or another!

I won this set in a nice lot from ebay. I got the older version with the star shaped zipper pull. The backpack is very roomy and will fit all the accessories in this set, plus a few more. I'd buy it, even at retail price. Grade: A+ Whole set: Backpack: Mini Books! Binder: Open Binder: Water Bottle: Comparison with other packs:
