Mod note: Grace the Basset Hound was sold with a party hat from 2001 to 2007. In 2007 Grace was revised and the party hat was removed. Grace was revised again under the BeForever rebranding, and then retired in 2018. Grace the Dog was rereleased in April 2023 under the branding of Kit's Birthday Collection.
Early description: Kit and Stirling found their lovable but clumsy basset hound, Grace, abandoned by her owner. Stirling made a party hat for Grace so she could join Kit’s birthday celebration! $16
Later description: Kit finds the clumsy and lovable basset hound, Grace, abandoned by her owner. She’s soft and furry, with long brown ears, a white-tipped tail, and adorable freckles on her face. $18

Birthday Collection description: When Kit finds a hungry basset hound abandoned by her owner, Kit gets to keep her and names her Grace. Includes: A soft plush basset hound with long tan ears, a white-tipped tail, and adorable freckles on her snout. $28
Grace the Basset Hound $18 QBAA
3 Stars ***
Grade: C+
This item includes Grace the Basset Hound and her paper party hat.
Grace seems a little too small to be properly scaled to Kit, if you ask me. She is made of a nice soft fabric, and her colors are pretty and realistic. My Grace seems to have a very crooked nose, and one eye seems "off". I bought her when she was on sale AND used a coupon, and I still felt kind of bad when she arrived. She is pretty cute, but honestly, I only kept her because I hope to complete Kit's entire collection.
The paper party hat is cute.It is made out of a thin paper similar to tissue paper, but even so, it seems sturdy enough for gentle play.
I would give this item a B if her face was on straight. As she is, I have to go with a C+. If you want Grace, it is a good idea to wait for a sale.

She is adorable!! I think she is sweet although I did not give Dd the hat that goes with Grace I put it away because Its not made of a very sturdy material. I just dont see her not ripping it by accident and becomming very frustrated.. I would have been much better if they made it out or a light weight vinyl or even a thin plastic..

Where do I start with Grace? I had a beagle and basset hound mix when I was ten so I can tell you that Grace just isn't as big as she should be to be in proportion to Kit--not unless she's a puppy. Grace is just a really big let down, even compared to Sombrita, Josefina's pet goat. She's lightweight and small and not realistic in size to Kit. My basset hound beanie baby is more realistic than Grace. Get her only if you want to complete Kit's collection. C-.

Grace the Basset Hound Item# D7242 $18 "Kit and Stirling found their lovable yet clumsy basset hound, Grace, abandoned by her owner. The dog comes with a party hat that Stirling made for Grace so she could join Kit’s birthday celebration." Our Grace doesn't look exactly like the other photos of her, so I though I'd add mine to the review. Grace is 6 1/2" long and 4 1/2" tall. She's furry and stuffed with fluff. We like Grace even though she's a bit off scale for Kit. Grade B+ ETA: even though I bought my Grace in March 2008 before she was 'retired' and re-released as item F7886 in June 2008, I think she looks more like the newer version of Grace rather than the retired version.

Does any one know what the differences between the two versions are- besides the missing party hat?
I have tried making picture comparisons- but they really do not seem too different from what I can tell.

Kit’s Dog, Grace Item# F7886 $18 "Kit finds the clumsy and lovable basset hound, Grace, abandoned by her owner. She’s soft and furry, with long brown ears, a white-tipped tail, and adorable freckles on her face." I don't notice much difference between this new Grace the one that I got this past winter. I think the revision came before the party hat was not included with Grace. I guess the new Grace has a bit longer fur. Just a fraction of an inch though. Old Grace is more felt like. Neither one have much plush. But she is a lighter tan and her head is a bit tilted now. She's still 6 1/2" long and 4 1/2" tall. She's soft and filled with fluff. Her ears are a bit thicker. She's still sweet. Grade A. Grace (revised) / Grace (retired) Grace (revised) close / Grace (retired) far

I love little Grace! She's so cute! She's well made too and I think she's really soft. I kind of wish she came with a collar, or a toy or something else though.

I don't think that there is anything really special about Grace - she is cute - but no cuter than any other stuffed animal out there. Definately not worth her $18 price tag. I also think that you can't have Grace with out the scooter, or have the scooter with out Grace. Overall, I give Grace a C! I don't think I would have purchased her, if I didn't get a good deal on her. D~

Kit’s Dog, Grace Item# F7886 Kit finds the clumsy and lovable basset hound, Grace, abandoned by her owner. She’s soft and furry, with long brown ears, a white-tipped tail, and adorable freckles on her face. $18 Grace is a cute little basset hound. She is made out of fabric with plastic eyes and a sculpted face. She has big floppy ears a long body and short little legs. She looks like a dog that would be clumsy. Grace has a very sweet/sad face, you can see why Kit falls in love with her. Grace with my other dogs. While the others have a more neutral expression Grace has more look in her face. She is however much shorter than the other two. Grace's body with the other dogs. She does look like a basset hound. However, she is so tiny. Shouldn't a full grown basset hound be bigger? Would the pattern make a more more to scale dog cost that much more? : Grace was a needed part to Kit's collection, and I really do like her. She grows on you. She looks cute with Kit and even doll Kit seems like she really loves her dog. If only she was full sized but since she is not she gets a B from me. *Mod edit to remove dead image links throughout the review.

The first version of Grace is made with a soft cloth nose, and a tail that cannot be positioned. The second version Grace has a plastic nose, (a little rough) but a 'wired' tail that is positionable.
Personally, I like the first version soft nose, but also like the 2nd version tail that can be bent up. Other than a slight color variation noticeable only when both versions are side by side, and the nose & tail difference, they are pretty much the same.
Grace is a cute little dog that you don't want to miss getting if you have Kit. (We have both versions).
You might want to also note that the first version came with a paper woven party hat that may or may not be important to you.

Actually the first version has the hard nose and the new version has the soft nose. I personally like the version with the hard nose. Both versions are cute and are easily available.

I have the new version. She's adorable. I sort of wish I had the older one though, because it came with a cute party hat.

I got a first version Grace a few months before Christmas because I got a really good deal on a NIB one and thought the little hat was so cute! BUT, honestly, if there's a big price difference between the two you'd probably be happy with whichever one you could get more inexpensively (unless you just really love doggies in hats ).

I recently bought Grace with the party hat for about what it retailed for. As others have mentioned, Grace is cute, but just way to small! He is shorter than Caroline's Inkpot. : Otherwise, he is cute and cuddly. B for scale issues.
