Well, here's my new #30. I love the Jess mold, so I had to get her despite already having Jess & Ivy.
Her hair is quite long. However, it is very, very thin. When I did her hair in two braids, each looked rather paltry. Sad. I had hoped she would have thicker hair. It is very silky and soft. Her hair does have a bit of a flip to it. I was pleased to see that she has the short hairs to cover the gaps in her wig- no creepy bald spots. A closer look at the back of her wig. Another angle. #30 with Jess- you can see Jess's highlights more readily here. They are extremely similar- they have the same eye color. From the back- Jess's braids are much more substantial than #30's pigtails. Grade: A- Now, grades are so subjective that I don't really like giving them. The doll is really very lovely. Her appearance warrants an A+, but points deducted for how thin her hair is. I would prefer she didn't have layers, but that is a personal preference and doesn't speak to the quality of the doll. My second reservation about her is the tendency of the face mold to seem (and maybe not just seem) to be tilted forward so that the doll looks like she's staring downward. I found this to be the case with Ivy as well, though my Jess doesn't seem to have this problem. That said, I only noticed the looking-down when the dolls are on display above my head.

I won't bother with pictures, as they're already well covered in the starting post. I broke and ended up getting this doll when I went to the Boutique and Bistro in Dallas. Well, my mom told me to pick out doll (other than the one I was already buying) and she'd buy it and the Purchase With Purchase available at that time as a Christmas gift. I was drawn to #30 and kept coming back to her after walking away. She appeared in many of the displays that they had set up at the store, so it was difficult to get away. I had already customized an Ivy to look similar prior to this doll coming out; and I had a change of heart and decided to change her back into Ivy and get many of Julie's things for her (since I'll not have an actual Julie -- I'm customizing the one I bought). That's off my chest, so now I can move on. #30 is a great doll. And while I do agree that her hair is a bit on the thin side; it is natural to the hairstyle. My own hair is cut in much the same way, and ponytails and braids tend to look thin and somewhat messy. I do wish her part were a little more to the side though, centered with the pupil of her eye rather than lined up with the inside edge of her eyebrow. But I think I can get over it. Grade: A

I just got my Violet yesterday:). I have to say I'm in love with her hair it is a bit odd but I like it. Ive never seen a Jess in real life but my #30 is SO pretty and she looks good in everything I put her in. Anyway I put Vi's hair in braids and it looked great do I just have a thick haired one? But I do like her hair a little thin because I can put it more easily in up dos:).

#30 is our first AG doll. DD and I adore her so much, as she is the prettiest in the JLY display (biased, yes). I love her layered hair, and I leave it just the way it is, or in a ponytail. It is very soft and silky. True, it gets messed up easily, but just a little spray of water and some brushing will bring back her hair's smoothness. Really easy. We got Felicity on July 4th, and I find that thicker hair is so much harder to keep neat. Grade: A+

Sorry about filing a dissenting vote, but after waiting to bond with Sorenne, my #30, for several months, I gave up and rewigged her. I just didn't like how flat her hair is on top, plus I prefer bangs. I wanted Sorenne to be a 1960's girl so I bought her the extra long wavy wig from RRG. HERE is the link to her Customized thread. And here she is before the new wig:

I love my #30, Alexis. She's gorgeous and her face just looks so sweet. Her hair isn't as versatile as some JLYs, but it's still super cute. I love the way it looks in pigtails or a ponytail, but just down is my favorite hairstyle on Alexis.
Overall, an A for JLY #30.

I bought my beautiful Alyssa on August 2, 2010. The ends of her hair was a little dry not too long after I bought her. I give the doll an A.
I don't like the meet outfit as much. I can see the words on the shirt peeling off fairly quickly. While I like purple, the color here just looks rather faded and worn. But it fits okay, so I give it a B-.
The capris are cute, but when the doll sits down the pants come down. They are purple, so I might have some mix and match trouble there, but I really do like these pants. I give them an A-.
I absolutely love the shoes! The bows add just the right touch. They are a pretty lavender color. These get worn quite often. A+.
I think that the charm necklace is really pretty. It has a delicate look to it in person. When I first saw the pictures of it, I really didn't like it. So much better in person. I wouldn't put any of the charms that come with outfits on it, though. A.
She came with Innerstar U access, and while the virtual world is fun, it can take forever to load and gets old kinda quickly.
Overall- A.

Is #30s hair the same color as #25, or more like #14/#16? Anyone know?

I don't have any of the other dolls you mention, but I believe it is closer to #25's hair.

On August 31, 2011, my gorgeous Bella Annemarie Del Mar came. My fourteenth doll, I got her because I was crazy about Jess, but I heard this doll had thinner, silkier hair, which is much more my taste. And I wouldn't pay that much for a doll I could get with better hair for a lot less Anyway... I love the Jess mold, and it suits Bella perfectly. She looks...perfect. Try her in the Rectangular Glasses, you won't want to take them off her! She looks great in everything I've tried her in (which isn't much though) especially the deep, royal colors of the Pet Show Outfit. She'd probably look heavenly in dark blue... No photos, sorry, two reasons: 1. Haven't taken any that I've uploaded and 2. No idea how to upload pictures. Bella has pierced ears and is my first doll of a lot of things: my first Jess mold doll, my first JLY doll and my first doll with pierced ears that are removable, as I have both JoJo and Addy. Bella is absolutely gorgeous! A++++++++++ If you want Jess but don't want to spend a lot of money on her, or like me you prefer thinner, softer hair GET HER! One quick thing: *Bella has a slightly wonky eye, which I find cute and unique while others may find it annoying (I think it's common in the mold, because even in Kanani's stock photo the eyes were different sizes) *And I realize I'm a horrible hairstylist, but her hair is messy and has flyaway hairs in braids.

I just love my #30, Dani. I got her for Christmas in 2011 (so last year), and I adore her. Granted, I had been wanting her for about a year and a half, but I think she's lovely all the same. Well, enough of me ranting on about how I love this doll, and let me get down to actually reviewing her. Hair-As others here have said, her hair is very thin. I find that when Dani is just standing or sitting or laying somewhere sometimes, you can see the front part of her wig cap. This only bothers me sometimes, and if it is really getting to me, I just clip some hair over it and I'm fine. However, I find that the dolls with this layered hairstyle all have the thin wig in common. So, if thin wigs bother you, I would either plan on re-wigging, or skipping out on this doll. The hair itself is a dark brown without many highlights. It does not have the same reddish tone that Jess's hair does. Personally I think it looks lovely with the dolls coloring (but maybe that's just me...). It really adds to the "Asian" look that seems to be what AG might have been trying to achieve. Nevertheless, the hair gets a B+ from me, only because of the thinness issue. Face-I wasn't sure what else to talk about/what to call this. So, I'm just calling it "face". : As I mentioned above, my doll has really nice coloring. It's subtle, but not anemic, and she doesn't look like she's wearing make-up, either. She has balance. Personally, I think she looks Asian, and for me, she is half Japanese and half American, so I guess she can pass as multi-racial. Plus, she's pretty, and looks good in every color I've put her in so far. I think she looks particularly stunning in bright colors, like red and hot pink. So, her "face" gets and A+ from me. I can't think of anything else to review about her, so yeah. But, in a nutshell, she is a stunner, and I would highly recommend her.

Thank you so much for all your reviews! I don't ever have a chance to go into the stores, so I have to order online. If I had not read the reviews, I would have been horrified by how thin my #30's hair is. I don't know how it compares to other MyAG dolls, but the layered hair is MUCH thinner than any others I have (all historical). I have trouble with her hair, she has fly-aways however I try, but that sounds typical for the layered hairstyles. This is the first Jess mold I have seen in person, and it is adorable. Looking at pictures it was one of my favorites, but after seeing it in real life I think is even cuter. My #30's eyes are a bit uneven, but I only notice it when I look for flaws. I think it gives her a little personality, plus she wears glasses so it is even less noticeable. I also like that she has less "make up" than the last MyAG I tried (#55), and she looks much more natural to me. I give her an A- because I have issues with how thin her hair is and the trouble with flyaways. Overall she is a darling doll and I am glad I got her.

This is Talia. I got her from the Benefit Sale in 2014. I remember wanting her ever since she first released. So glad I have this cutie now.

I got my beautiful #30, Kyoung-eun, in February. She is soooo beautiful. She has such a sweet face! Her hair is rather thin like the other reviews have said, but it looks really cute styled in ponytails or just down.

I got #30 for $35 (!) in almost mint condition. Her name is Eve and she's currently being eyeswapped with my Caroline, so the only picture I have of her is with Claudia (#4) and Zaira (Ivy), but it does serve as a pretty good comparison image: Unlike Ivy and #4, #30's hair is layered and she has dark brown hair instead of black like the other two. It looks black when she's not standing next to dolls with black hair, though! Her eyes are just classic, pinwheel brown. They're very pretty but I'm getting her eyeswapped just for some diversity in my collection Overall I'd give her an A-, only because of her layered hair- I actually like it a lot but it's not as easy to style as many other dolls.
