This is the Ice Dance Outfit from 2002. It is a beautiful shade of sky blue, with beaded accents on the neckline and sleeves of the dress, and matching beading on the headband.
It does not come with tights, but the skates are just the cutest, with shimmery silver and blue flecks in the sherpa tops, and blue laces that coordinate the outfit perfectly. The skate guards are also a shimmery blue.
It comes with a small stuffed blue bear, that my set was missing, (from eBay,) a Gold medal and Grin pins.
I rate this outfit A+, and like it much better than it's modern cousin, Mia's Silver Skate Dress.
The skirt can snag easily on the velcro, so dress with caution!

I was lucky enough to get Lindsey the Ice Dance outfit (in wonderful condition, complete with everything but the skate guards) from a friend who was ready to pass it on. This outfit consists of the blue velvet skate dress with a sparkly two tier skate skirt and bead trim at neckline and wrists, the white fur trim skates with sparkle accents in the fur and in the blue laces, a beaded headband, a gold medal on a red, white and blue ribbon, a fuzzy blue teddy bear (after so long this is hard to find) and the aforementioned sparkly skate guards.
The level of detail on the skate dress is amazing! The powder-y blue colour is flattering (especially to Lindsey), the two fabrics work well together and the beaded trim is gorgeous. The fit, however, is a bit of a problem. This outfit didn’t come with tights and now I understand why: the dress is so tight underwear and tights have to go by the wayside to get it one (and even if you can stuff your doll into the dress with tights on they show through the front…not pretty). The velcro in the back is the kind that likes to stick to everything and it’s hard to get the dress on without it catching on the skirt. This dress could present problems for kids unless they are super patient and careful. As a collector, there is no real way to hide the stand gripper under the dress but that doesn’t bother me as much as I thought it would. (There’s no way the doll can balance on the skates without a stand.)
Here is a close up of the skirt
The skates are nice and heavy and they have some detail to them (with the sparkly fur and blue laces) that make them complement the dress rather than just being standard white skates.
The headband is heavily beaded and beautiful, though the huge American Girl tags on the side will have to go.
The medal is real metal, nicely detailed and heavy; the red, white and blue ribbon opens to go around the doll’s neck and closes with Velcro.
I have to admit it, the teddy bear cinched the sale for me with this outfit. He’s fluffy, he sparkles (there are little sparkly bits in his fur) and he reminds me of Oscar the Grouch. Lindsey is in love and so am I.
I'd give this outfit an A- since the velcro and fit issues are a concern. Overall, though, this outfit is a reminder of how really nice American Girl quality can be.

I got this outfit in 2004 from my parents along with my very first AGOT doll. Being a figure skater, I love it! Dress: I give this dress an A. I love it's colour and it's quite accurate to what lots of figure skaters wear. The sheer-ish fabric for the skirt and sleeves is very pretty. The double layer skirt is the perfect length and I LOVE how they made the sleeves end in little points. Just like real skate dresses except without the finger elastic! The beading at the sleeves and on the neckline is a nice added touch to the outfit. I like how the beading on the neckline looks somewhat like icicles dangling down the front. The headband is made of the exact same beads that are used on both the sleeves and the neck of the dress. Not the most practical thing out there as figure skaters don't really wear headbands because they can fall off too easily, but it's a really cute accessory to this dress. Make sure to cut off the monster AG tag on it before you put it on the doll though. I give this a B. The skates are adorable! I love how the laces match the colour of the dress and sparkley the fur on top. The guards are cute and stay on the skates too. A+ The teddy bear and medal are great to give to your doll after winning first place! The medal has a great design of figure skaters on the front and comes on a lovely red, white, and blue ribbon. The teddy bear is soft and has sparkley fur. He does have a huge AG tag on him though so i'd remove that if you don't want it to be really noticable. He also doesn't seem to have any eyes. A+ for both. Overall this outfit is GREAT! It looks wonderful on pretty much all the AG dolls and it can be used as another competition dress for Mia without clashing with her hair! I haven't taken this dress off of my doll in years so I have no clue how the velcro and snagging problems are with it. The whole set gets an A+ from me. *mod edit to remove dead image links*

Attached is a photo of my JLY 28, Natalie, in the Ice Dance outfit. It's a great outfit, I give it an A. It's very pretty and easy to get on. The accessories are really cool as well.
