B+
I purchased this set after several members commented that the pajamas would be perfect for Julie and Ivy. While I’m not overly fond of the additional pieces, I am pleased with the pajamas. I also think that the pajamas look better on the 1970s girls than Bitty Baby.
Here’s the AG description:
Bitty Baby will drift off to dreamland in these comfy pajamas:
• An empire-waist top with eyelet lace and a satin bow, printed with stars and moons
•Matching capri-length pants with lace trim
•Woven ribbon slippers to keep toes toasty
•A “star-moon” nightlight that gives Baby’s room a soft glow
•Includes the Time for Bed, Bitty Bunch storybook
Pajamas:
The quality of the set is similar to most American Girl sets. The material is fairly thick and soft. While the design isn’t very bright, it seems appropriate for the style. The top closes with Velcro and the bottoms have an elastic waist. Both pieces fit well on the Bitty Baby and 18” dolls.
Shoes:
While the shoes don’t qualify for the worst AG shoe competition, they’re not that great. I like how soft they are and the ribbon detail, but they hardly fit the Bitty Baby. I doubt that most children in the target age range would be able to get them on without assistance. They do not fit the 18” girls.
Toy:
The toy is a plastic moon and star nightlight. It reminds me of something for the Care Bears. I’m not sure how well it works, as I’ve yet to purchase the AAA batteries. Instructions for installing the batteries are also included.
Book:
The story is about the Bitty Bunch getting ready for bed. Unfortunately, all the pages were stuck together and were very difficult to separate without damaging the book.
