This item was released in 2009 and retired in 2015. Julie wears this casual outfit on cool days. The height of the '70s style, it features: A knee-length dress with an all-over calico print, red ribbon trim, and bell-shaped sleeves Bright red tights and knee-high boots A bandanna-style kerchief to sweep back her hair.*price increase from $28 to $32 January, 2012/retired March, 2015* My partner got me this dress for Junie, my Julie stand-in. I was mixed on this outfit. I loved it in the catalog on Julie, hated it when I first took it out of the box, felt okay about it on Junie when I had it with the scarf, and loved it again when I took the silly babushka off. I think the dress works fantastically with Junie's skin tone and hair. The dress from the back. The ribbon trim goes all the way round the sleeves, and the border on the hem does too. Yay! The dress is really well-made. I figured someone would want to see the tights, so Junie agreed to moon y'all. They're regular AG tights, solid red. I wouldn't leave them on the doll that long, even though they're manmade fibre. Junie has a black fleece beret that left marks on her forhead, and I bet these will turn a doll's booty pink, too. The scarf is really BIG. Like, the size of Rebecca's or Josefina's shawls. This is nice, since it made putting it on really easy, but it takes a little bit of fiddling to get it to lie right. It might look better on dolls with hair that is flat instead of curly. Overall grade: A+ Seriously, one of the best outfits AG has made in terms of detail, workmanship, accessories and uniqueness. I just got this dress yesterday and immediatley put it on Julie. The colors are great and would look good on any doll. I haven't put the scarf on her head but I am going to crochet her a red hat to match. I am going to try to post photos on here.

I bought the Calico Dress for Ivy. Doesn't the red look nice with her dark hair? I really like everything about this outfit except that it's nearly impossible to keep the boot velcro from snagging the tights. Very true to the late 1960's & early 1970's.

I LOVE THIS OUTFIT!!! my only complaint (which I see already mentioned) is the boots are velcro and a little hard to get on, which makes it nearly impossibly to not catch on the tights Mia: Seriously, I would wear this!

Jordyn (#24) loves the Calico Dress, Boots, and Tights but not so much the Scarf. She does however, like it as an occasional wrap. lol
Julie loves this outfit with or without the scarf!

Not that anyone asked, but here it is on Molly: (Please to be ignoring knocked over Kit in the background. ) Doesn't she look like she'd like to buy the world a Coke? This may be one of my all time favorite outfits, and I even debated whether to buy it or not. I am so glad now that I did! From the member photos I've seen this is definitely one of AG's finest - it looks great on everyone from Kaya to Ivy. Although with the square neckline, I wouldn't recommend it for a WB girl.

This dress is gorgeous! I actually think it looks better on Ivy than on Julie.

I agree with everything that has been said about this outfit so far, so no need to repeat it. I have yet to find a doll that this dress does NOT look beautiful on. But my favorite so far has to be Rebecca. I don't know if it's it's the colour of her hair, or her eyes, but this outfit and it's colours suit her!

My DD received this outfit for Christmas even though she doesn't have Julie. She loves everything about the outfit except for the tights. She didn't like that the tights were red and prefers to dress her dolls without them wearing the tights as part of the outfit. We have tried it on all of her dolls and it looks good on all of them. I think it looks the best on Kit though. The tights have already snagged and thus we will need to replace them if my DD desires them but she doesn't seem to care.

This outfit is THE best. I love that it matches Julie's time a little better. A lot of Julie's outfits match earlier 70's, they seem to have bright limes, pinks and oranges that would signify a more early 70's, late 60's theme. The later 70's (Juies time period) seemed more earthy, with alot more muted colors (I of course can only go by my fashion classes and parents due to being born in 1990). This outfit fits into the more muted color category and the peasant theme is perfect for her time. I love the whole outfit because not only is it an easy outfit to put on for small girls, (and some boys) it also is very cute and doesnt look or feel cheap. The fabric is very sturdy. The only problem I have had with it was that the tights have torn a little in the inner thigh area. I was very upset by this but it doesnt seem to be getting any worse. The bandana is veryeasy to put on and the whole look is so cute! I give it an A

If I can add my images? The scarf looks ... unfortunate on short haired dolls.

Updated review: Tights: F
The 2ND time I put the tights on Julie, they got a huge hole in between the legs. This was from very gently pulling them up around her waist.
ETA: I emailed CS via the AG website and told them of my situation, they sent me an email back within 15 minutes telling me they were sending me a pair of replacement tights for free. Another win for AG CS!

I love this outfit! For sure one of my favorites from AG, and I'm not a big fan of their clothing. The scarf looks best on my ruthie, with her curls. Very pretty. And I put the tights with everything LOL

I have a Julie doll, but have not put this dress on Julie. I put it on my Samantha doll. It looks cute. I did not put on the tights. I think the outfit looks cute without the tights. The dress fabric feels high quality.

This dress is so, so cute! Even cuter in person. I was under the impression that the fabric of the main part of the dress was dark blue, but it's actually a very pretty purple. Right up my alley! The quality seems very good and the dress fits well. I really like the red tights though I wouldn't leave them on the doll for long because of staining risks, and as others have mentioned, you need to be careful putting the boots on/taking them off or they can snag the tights. The boots are okay, not my favorite, but nice enough. My mom said to be truly authentic they would have needed fringe, and I think that would have been adorable! Last of all, I personally really like the head scarf thing. It's so cute and looks great on dolls! One quick note: I would pick this in person if possible. The vertical stripes on many of the dresses are rather tilted. If that bothers you (like it does me!), if you pick in person you can find one with straight stripes. Here's the dress on my #49. I don't have Julie, but I bought it for my modern girls and it's so cute on them!

I will a sounding board to all the previous reviews. I love it! The only downfall are the pesky tight boots that are hard to get on and snag the tights easily.

My Lulu loves it! The boots were difficult to get on and I snagged the stockings while trying, d'oh. but this outfit is adorable and works well on many different dolls.

A friend collects Julie and this outfit is super cute. The colors and patterns work great together. The kerchief is sweet and so era appropriate.
