This outfit was introduced in 2009 and retired in 2014. Worn in Candlelight for Rebecca. The Hanukkah Dress was replaced by the Holiday Outfit, and later, the Hanukkah Outfit.
Rebecca dreams of wearing this fancy party outfit for her family’s Hanukkah celebration: A jacquard striped dress featuring a faux-layered georgette blouse and a fancy scalloped hem An embroidered ribbon hairbow to sweep back her wavy hair A pair of cream-colored tights and matching shoes
This jaquard striped dress is very well made. The dropped waist has elastic on the inside to get it over the famous AG Tush and allows for a fit close to the body. The floral design on the ribbon is embroidered, not just printed on. I do not know why Rebecca's outfits come with tights, instead of the stockings her books describe her as wearing. The cream color tights in this set sre at least different then the white ones in her School Outfit, so they offer some wardrobe versatility. The shoes are also cream colored, and have elastic on the bow strap to get them on, not snaggy velcro. In Rebecca's story, this dress is her best dress that she wore in the Fall during the High Holy Days of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, and she has been saving it to wear at Hanukkah. Today she models it for you on Rosh Hashanah, in pics taken with my iphone because the camera has wandered off.

Dress is beautiful from afar. I love the colors. It is a bit tight on the hips- not sure if that was the fashion back then. But there's no way it would fit over a slip. Side tie confused me. Head ribbon has a gorgeous pattern and is just the right length. Shoes are very cute and work well with the dress, though I wish they had snaps rather than being slip-on. Outfit should have come with stockings rather than tights.

I would like to add that the sleeves and neck are a semi-sheer fabric, which makes it very dressy. Also, the solid purple fabric is a cotton/poly blend. In the catalog photos I had thought that the solid purple with a velvet, but it's not. Skukla's photos show the true color of the fabric, with purple and grayish-purple stripes (unlike the catalog pic). The shoes have a tiny heel on them, which Rebecca stands in easily. The shoes, even without the Velcro snag my Rebecca's tights. This is more about the poor quality of the tights, and not about the shoes. Overall Grades: Dress A- (a richer fabric for the solid purple would have been nicer, the fabric used almost detracts from the rest of the dress) Shoes A Stockings C

I love this outfit for Rebecca! I think she looks great in purple, and the design of the dress looks super cosy for the Winter holiday of Hanukkah. The ribbon is great too, albeit a bit short. I like that it's embroidered rather than printed, but it's hardly long enough to tie a nice ribbon around Rebecca's head! I was very frustrated with the tights and shoes. The tights are hardly big enough for Rebecca's body and have zero extra space. The shoes are super tight and I could not figure out a way to get them on without stretching the tights back over her feet. I haven't taken them off, but I'm sure the fragile tights are snagged underneath those darling shoes I give in an A-, fantastic outfit and shoe design, but the shoes are a bit too small and the tights are flimsy.

This is a lovely outfit for Rebecca. I tried it both pulled down, dropped-waisty, and also more of a blouson style. The former looks nicer. I did find it to be rather tight. the scalloping along the bottom of the striped part of the dress is a bit oversized- I think it would have been much lovelier and more delicate with a smaller scallop. The ribbon is gorgeous! Grade: A

The Hanukkah dress looks very pretty on Rebecca. The dress is a little tight and I can see a child getting frustrated with it easily, but for a collector I doubt it would be any problem. I like the fabric because it matches the illustration on the cover of "Candlelight For Rebecca" rather than the odd cheap looking fabric I was terrribly disappointed with on the web/catalogue. The shoes I personally have no problem with and the the tights have NO extra room and are delicate so be careful!

This is a beautiful dress! I liked it from the moment I first saw it online, but it is even prettier in person! The cream-colored sheer fabric of the sleeves and neck bodice alone is just fabulous in person - it's no wonder Rebecca loved to wear this dress! Although it doesn't photograph perfectly, I'd describe the dress' color as "plum" - maybe "dark plum" but certainly more purple than Samantha's velvet holiday dress. The tights I had no problem putting on - although I've had plenty of practice with Samantha's numerous pairs. The shoes, although almost identical in appearance to Samantha's Lawn Party shoes, have better heels (more like Ruthie's meet shoes?), so Rebecca can stand quite well in them. The ribbon, as green chile supergirl put, is gorgeous! It takes patience to tie it correctly around her head, but it really completes the outfit and makes tying it perfect well worth the effort, IMO. Grade: A+ My picture does not show the true color of the dress - it is purple, not blue! [Necklace and menorah from the retired JLY Hanukkah accessories]

The shoes in this set aren't identical to Sam's Lawn Party shoes - as Princess Emily said, the heels on Rebecca's pair are different, and the toe is rounder and there is only one bow on each, rather than two as on Sam's pair.

The shoes are definitely my favorite part of this outfit. The dress is beautiful and so is the ribbon. I am excited to pair the shoes with the movie outfit since I do not like the cream colored tstrap shoes. This is my favorite outfit of Rebecca's thus far.

[Will edit with a pic later - my camera's battery decided to die on me.]
Anyway, I just got my outfit today in the mail. I have not tried the tights or shoes yet, but did the dress and ribbon. I have put it on my PM #4 (Se Ah), and as others have stated, it is definitely tight. Once it is on, it's ok, but to actually get it on is the tough part. I can definitely see a child just getting flat out frustrated with getting in on a doll, so I personally would not recommend buying this outfit for a child.
Anyway, otherwise, I love the dress, which is why I bought it. The purple definitely goes well with dark-haired dolls.
At the moment, I would give it a B, due to the fit.
Update 3/8/2012: Ended up selling the dress. Despite how pretty it is, I was just too frustrated with the fit.

This dress is lovely. It is well made, and one of my favorite shades of purple. It's a tad difficult to pull up over my Rebecca's bottom, but once it's on, it looks adorable! The ribbon is beautiful. I had a little trouble tying it into a bow, but I finally figured it out after I played around with it for a few minutes. The tights are nice, and I like the color of them much better than I would have liked plain white ones. The shoes are adorable! I love how easy they are to slide on. Grade: A

This dress is beautiful. I would have preferred a separate blouse (guimpe) but it looks nice the way it is. The current version has the new style velcro and isn't quite as tight. Everything fits just fine, except the shoes, but they squeeze on PM style feet. If your PM Samantha is lacking lawn party shoes, these are a good substitute. The heels aren't as high and there's only one bow but they actually fit a bit better. The hair ribbon is very pretty and long enough to wear as a sash with another dress or around a big head. The tights snag easily and that's the only real flaw in this outfit. Grade: A Susanna loves her new outfit so much she doesn't want to take it off!
