This item was released in 2009 and retired in 2015.
Rebecca wears this faux-fur coat to ward off the chill of a New York City winter. It has decorative buttons, velveteen accents at the cuffs and collar, and a satin belt at the waist. She keeps her hands warm inside the matching faux-fur muff.Rebecca's Winter Coat is a lovely glossy black. It has a matching black muff. The coat itself has elegant triangular accents around the ribbon waistband. I found the coat to be a bit of a tight fit, but it may be particular to this coat- I didn't try others on the doll before choosing it. The dropped waist style looks lovely- a bit of color from her dress peeks out beneath. Grade: A- (slight deduction for fit)

Thanks to EofA who explained how to add flickr pics. Here's my Rebecca in her winter coat. Overall, I love this coat. It seems historically accurate. I think I have a pic of my grandmother in one. The body of the coat is like a poly-chenille. I'm sure there's a name for this kind of fabric but I don't know what it is. It has a nice feel and lends some weight to the coat so it drapes nicely. The collar, cuffs, and belt loops are a stiff faux velvet. The belt is similar to taffeta. The coat closes with three buttons and loops, and a small piece of velcro on the belt. The buttons are plastic, but faceted, just like some antique glass ones I have. It's a beautiful coat that lives up to my expectations. I want one for myself. As Green Chile Supergirl explained, the fit's a bit tight. When Rebecca's in the buff or wearing modern clothes, the coat fits well. But in her meet outift it doesn't really work. Two belted elasticized waists -one on top of another - make for a very tight fit. The sleeves are also short. (Were coat sleeves always short??? I seem to remember many tailored easter coat sleeves being tight, short, and just totally uncomfortable.) The muff is completely useless. Even if I rubber band Rebecca's hands together, the muff still doesn't cover them. The muff's tossed in a drawer and will stay there for a long time. Overall grades Coat A (If you are collecting Rebecca, you've got to get her coat!) Muff C-

I'm sure there's a name for this kind of fabric but I don't know what it is. Sadly, this type of fur was very popular back then. Very young or even fetal Karakul lambs were prized for pelts. Newborn karakul sheep's pelts were called karakul (also spelled caracul), or astrakhan or krimmer in Russia. Newborn lambs have a tight, curly pattern of hair and must be under three days old when they are killed, or they will lose their black color and soft, tightly worn coils of fur. Dark colors are dominant and lambs often darken in color as they age. People used the lambs' pelts to create various clothing items, such as the karakul hat, or in haute couture.

I just got this and it is SO tight. I love it, but it is annoying how tight it is.
Coat: A- (if it was nice fitting it would have been A+)

Rebecca's coat is nice and soft. It fits well over her meet dress and it's not too tight. It looks great with the hat from Rebecca's accessories. The ends of the muff are stretchy so it's possible to put it over both hands

I bought this for my 8 year old daughter. The muff is hard for her to put on. If the doll is positioned just right, it does fit over both of Rebecca's hands however you must not move her too much once it is on. As others have said, the coat is a bit tight. It also shed. If the doll wears it over the lace dress, there will be little black threads left behind. It is lovely however! overall: coat: A- Muff: C-

This is a return for me, sadly. The coat is way too tight. In addition, the amount of coat beneath the belt line of mine is really small (maybe 1-1.5") and so looks off. Maybe mine is defective?

Beware storing a doll with this coat on. As with many dark AG clothing, it stains.
