She is a very pretty doll. She has bright blue eyes and blonde hair a lot like Gwen. She looks good in almost anything. She is my mini me as a girl except I had a few freckles across my nose.

This doll was purchased as a mini me for my daughter. I'm assuming that this doll was designed to replace the #3 that they retired. She is similar, but not the exact same, which is probably why they gave her a new number. She was immediately removed from her Real Me meet outfit, as DD doesn't like it. American Girl #51 G1996 by simplyparticular, on Flickr Pictured here in the Ready for Fun meet outfit (DD loves it, as it matches the colors of the charms perfectly). American Girl #51 G1996 by simplyparticular, on Flickr She has a cute classic mold face, the newer pinwheel blue eyes and strong face paint. She as the newer bangs. She came with a side ponytail, but it was quickly restyled to pig tails. American Girl #51 G1996 by simplyparticular, on Flickr With her hair down. It differs from #3 in that it is layered at the bottom, and the front layers are a touch shorter than the back. This leads to fly-aways when styling or braiding. It is incredibly silky smooth, though. It has been very easy for DD to care for. American Girl #51 G1996 by simplyparticular, on Flickr She does have the short hairs for split hairstyles in the back. American Girl #51 G1996 by simplyparticular, on Flickr #51 with her hair down. The front layers tend to try and flip in two different directions, but they can be redirected with a brush. For collectors: If you like to style hair, I'd say track down a #3 or Kirsten. If you like to display with the standard hairstyle, she is adorable. For parents: I think she's an easy doll to care for - her hair is almost tangle-free.
