This outfit is associated with the book, Changes for Molly. The Slicker & Rain Hat set and the Umbrella & Galoshes set were both introduced in 1987 and retired in 2007. The slicker, rain hat, and galoshes were then combined and renamed the Winter Outfit. This Winter Outfit was introduced in 2007 and retired in 2008.
Slicker & Rain Hat: Keep Molly warm and dry in her bright yellow slicker and matching hat. The raincoat closes up the front with fireman’s clasps and buckles the sleeves to keep her snug.
Umbrella & Galoshes: Perfect for puddle-jumping are these bright red vinyl boots that zip up the sides and a big red umbrella that opens wide.
Winter Outfit: Molly can jump puddles all day in her bright yellow slicker and matching hat. Her red vinyl boots that zip up the side will keep her feet warm and dry.
Original Rain Slicker and Hat: Although I wish Molly had a proper winter coat, this is a very nice set. The coat and hat are made of nice thick material and I like the realistic details (special closures, real pockets). Everything fits well on my Molly; I haven't had any issues with the hat. Actually, it might be a bit too big, it usually falls over her eyes if I don't position it carefully. It is a really nice outfit, though, and it is different, so it gets an A. The boots in the newest set close with velcro instead of zippers, which I really don't like, but I think that is the only difference. (besides the elimination of the awesome umbrella!)

I don't understand why they didn't make the galoshes to go over Molly's shoes, since this is specifically mentioned in her books. This is still a great set though; everything is well-made, and I love the umbrella. A+!

Warning: I left the galoshes on Molly without socks and the black lining around the zipper made marks on her legs! Don't put these on doll without socks underneath just in case!

I love the detail on this - the clasp and how heavy it is. also love the umbrella. I bought a selection of Molly outfits for my nieces but had to keep this one for me. The raincoat feels like a real raincoat. If I ever have to take samantha out in the rain, she is wearing this.

Original Rain Slicker and Hat:The fabric is nice and heavy, but the heaviness makes it really hard to put on Molly. I also lost the hat years ago, so Molly wears it with her beret: I wish Molly had some real winter wear, but this layers over things pretty well, and anyway, it doesn't get too cold here in California so Molly doesn't need anything thicker!

Original Rain Slicker and Hat Umbrella and Galoshes:I purchased this back in the mid-90's. I really do love this outfit, but then I love all the core outfits and accessories for Molly I love that the clasps are real, no Velcro here! It is a very durable outfit that survived my teen years and bringing it on every babysitting gig I had back then. It also survived several years of storage and still looks new! Enough with the talk, here are some photos: (mod edit to remove broken images)

Winter Outfit:I agree with all of the above posters. This is an awesome outfit. It was a gift from my dd's grandparents Christmas 2008 - they ordered it in the nick of time before it was removed from the website. I expected the slicker and hat to be made of cheap plastic, so I was incredibly surprised that it is actually made of real rain coat material, and the clasps are real. Just a super outfit, and one of our favorite! Overall, I give this outfit an A+! D~

When Molly's Rain Slicker & Hat as well as the Umbrella & Galoshes retired in 2007, AG combined most of that into the Winter Outfit.

Original Rain Slicker and Hat: This is one of four Molly outfits my sister had for her when she gave her and her things to me last year. It only came with the coat and hat, no boots or umbrella. It's such a cute, realistic set, though. I love the real working clasps!

Mattel Winter Outfit:This outfit was purchased Winter 2008. It arrives with four pieces: Slicker: The slicker is yellow, and is made of a stiff fabric that represents water-resistant materiel. There are faux buckles on each sleeve, matching the ones on the rain boots, and two pockets in front. The slicker fastens with three snaps in front, and reaches mid-thigh. Nothing special, but will work for any doll from Molly to modern. AHat from the backHat: The hat is made of the same materiel as the slicker. The brim is shorter on one side than on the other. The hat fits tightly, and will mess the doll's hair. Nice addition, but could be a bit bigger. C+Boots: Contrary to what the store description above says, these rain boots do not have zippers. Instead, they can be fastened with velcro in the back. These boots are made of similar materiel as the rest of the outfit, if not the same, but are red. There are faux buckles around the ankle. I have not had a problem with staining. Overall, the materiel used is too thin to be accurate rain boots, and a zipper would have been better than the velcro used for fastening. B-Overall: Though this outfit would undoubtedly not last more than 10 minutes in any form of wet weather, I like the classic timing of it, and that you can put it on any doll from the 1940's on without making it look too out of place. If you happen to catch it on eBay or craigslist, I suggest snatch it up: if it's priced under $20. B

Love this outfit. It doubles here as Samantha's Halloween costume - Raining Cats and Dogs. Great quality, albeit slightly bulky.

I just have the umbrella and galoshes set. They are cute and realistic. The boots fit over socks and the umbrella is adorable.
