This outfit was released in 2005 and retired in 2011.
Girls today who share Kaya’s Nez Perce roots often wear traditional outfits like this one to pow-wows. Help your doll dance to the slow beat of a drum in this beautiful fringed dress. Add a beaded choker and embroidered moccasins, plus a feathered comb for her hair. Set includes trading cards and a matching beaded choker for you, too!
What would be called tradditonal, though tradditonal among the plains tribes not the Nec Perce. The material is velvet soft, hangs excellently and the color looks good in contrast to Kaya's dark eyes/hair. Her shoes are a pistol! I can't imagine a little kid trying to get them on,it takes alot of wiggling and pullling to get them on. The doll sized necklace fastens with maganets,a great idea since it's easy to get on and dosen't snag doll hair. The girl sized necklace isn't anything fancy by any stretch, just plastic beads but cute and it fits me. So I guess I can dress like Kaya:P
Over all it's nice to see Kaya's powow collection be rounded out,I guess I should add as a foot note that from what I've learned about tradditonal powow dresses they can be split into two catogories. The "pan indian" of the plains tribes which are used by many native people regardless of tribal affilation and tradditonal related to an indvidual's tribal dress.

I agree on the mocs. Marina has the toughest time tying those mocs. I am usually the one getting it done on all of Kaya's outfits.

Pow-Wow Dress of Today WAO (F2785) $28 "Girls today who share Kaya’s Nez Perce roots often wear traditional outfits like this one to pow-wows. Help your doll dance to the slow beat of a drum in this beautiful fringed dress. Add a beaded choker and embroidered moccasins, plus a feathered comb for her hair. Set includes trading cards and a matching beaded choker for you, too!" My thoughts are that this could have been better made for the money it cost. The fabric is much thinner than her other outfits and the strings on the moccasins are too short to wrap around twice. The front panel is not woven, but just a piece of material hooked to a red ribbon that velcros in the back. The design on the hair comb is also just material and not actually woven. My biggest problem with this outfit is that her necklace no longer has the magnetic closure (due to safety concerns.) It seems that AG did NOT increase it's length any, but took off the magnets and added a regular closure. This does not give any room for you to hook it around her neck. It is way too tight. A young child could not fasten this around Kaya's neck. I could barely get it on her after struggling with it for sometime. The colors on this outfit are beautiful and it has the potential to be a great outfit for Kaya. Just a few minor defects. Grade B. Pow-wow outfit of Today Pretty feather and hair comb Kaya's tiny choker with no room to fasten

Pow-Wow Dress of Today WZO: $28 Grade: A
When Purchased: I purchased this directly from AG in 2006.
Description: (color, fabric, materials, fit) The outfit is made of a velvety-like fabric, unlike the suede Meet and Adorned Deerskin outfits. Also included; beaded moccasins, magnetic choker, feather comb, and matching girl's choker. Although modern, this is very well made with lots of beading (even on the moccasins) and fringe work. The necklace has a magnetic closure which is much easier to fasten than the traditional clasp. The feather comb is made of real feathers.
Durability: The delicate fringe and beads could be problematic with rough play. The strings on the moccasins look like they would break easily with tiny hands.
Playability: This seems to have a great deal of play value as it is one of the few of Kaya's outfits.
Value for the money: I feel you get many nice pieces with this set, therefore it is worth the money.
Overall Grade: A

That's intresting about the doll sized necklace, mine is the older style and still it's a tight fit around Kaya's neck.

Some more photos of this gorgeous outfit: I'm not usually one to go for the modern outfits that AG puts out for historicals, but I think this is exceptionally beautiful. The boots could be tricky for a child to finangle, so that reduces its playability...but OTOH I've never been one to advocate for Kaya as a doll for a younger child in the target age range. I think an older girl should be able to handle the lacing. My necklace has the magnetic clasp and it's definitely a choker in all aspects of that word! Overall grade: A

I have Sonali in this dress right now (don't have kaya yet) i got this on the weekly sale page, I believe it was 24 dollars with the free shipping.
Anyway I like it, however as everyone already mentioned the shoes are hard to get on, I thought I was going to rip them. I also didn't really get how to put the hair piece in but I figured it out and am happy how it looks on Sonali. I will add a picture soon!

The fabric of this dress doesn't seem as nice as her meet or deerskin dresses. The embroidery colors are pretty but this dress is not very special. I like the revised blue version of it better.
The doll's choker is nice though the "girl-size" choker never fit my daughter.

This outfit is beautiful. The orange and yellow accents work so well with Kaya's skin tone, and I enjoy having her wear this outfit during the autumn because of the coloring. I acquired this outfit second hand, so I am missing the necklace and the feathers on the headpiece. I like the feel of the material and that there is actual embroidery. The shell detail below the neckline of the dress matches her hair shells beautifully. Grade: A
