Gentle Josefina Montoya has warm brown eyes that open and close, golden hoop earrings, and long, shiny mahogany-colored hair. She comes in an authentic 1824 outfit:
A white camisa edged with lace A colorful border-print skirt A blue woven belt White drawersFaux-leather moccasins A little sprig of yellow primroses tied with a blue ribbon in her hair
Josefina is one of the original six Pleasant Company dolls and she is still available through American Girl as part of the BeForever line. It has been literally decades, but I finally fell in love and brought her home. Josefina was flawless out of the box. While one can easily buy a Pleasant Company era Josefina on the secondary market, I am one of those collectors who prefers the newer vinyl, the slicker wigs, and smaller feet which fit both the older and newer shoes. Time to enjoy Josefina while she has her last few circuits around the sun as part of the BeForever line!

I have to say, Josefina probably in the top 5 of my favorite dolls. Mine is pre-beforever. I think her hair did get cut at some point while I was away on a vacation with my family, which is a bit sad but I'd never send her in to replace her head. She is still very beautiful! Her earrings are silvering a bit, which is annoying. I think she's very lovely otherwise.

I'm not sure why I waited so long in buying her. Better late than never! She is one of the most beautiful dolls AG has ever released. Her hair is really soft and easy to take care of despite how long it is. I give her an A+++

A+ I received BeForever Josefina this Christmas. She is beautiful. Defining features are her beautiful eyes and extremely long brown hair. It has red/brown or "mahogany" flecks. IMG_2748 by Dreamdscape Sondheim, on Flickr IMG_2746 by Dreamdscape Sondheim, on Flickr The quality strikes me as being very good. She has smooth, matte, almost velvety vinyl. The hair was easy to braid and comb through despite it's length. It is extremely silky and soft. I couldn't imagine her being prettier. I had an early Josefina once and found her to be inferior. This doll has much nicer hair.

I bought my Josie on Mercari earlier this year. She is PC and came with quite a sunken-in face, but I fixed that with hot water and she's good to go now! I think that Josefina is such a pretty doll. The PC ones look sweeter, but also older, than the Mattel versions in my opinion. http://instagram.com/p/CBV6EuvMD1N http://instagram.com/p/CCpH3kls13x Her hair is difficult to manage--it's very long and tangles easily. I usually keep it in braids, although it does look beautiful any way that you style it. It's very high-quality hair, just the length and the very smooth, fine texture of the PC wigs make it look messy rather easily. She does need to have her hair pulled away from her face at the temples in order to make it not fall in front of her face.
