Josefina Mini Doll Item# 47485
$20 (price increase from $22 to $24 January, 2012. Retired 8/28/14)
This 6-inch doll brings Josefina’s (ho-seh-FEE-nah) world to life on a smaller scale. She arrives dressed in a traditional New Mexican outfit. Plus, she comes with Meet Josefina, a miniature version of the book that tells Josefina’s story of growing up in 1824.Mini Josefina was my FIRST American Girl doll or American Girl anything for that matter. She's very special to me. Her hair is the softest of any of my mini dolls or 18" AG dolls. Her braid has a tiny sprig of primrose and a small blue ribbon. Adorable. Her earrings are stuck in place on her ears and don't move around at all. That's very good. Her eyes are so big and brown, that it makes her look much younger than her 9 years. Her blouse, skirt, sash and bloomers are identical to the full size Josefina but just miniature! Great quality. Her moccasins are actually a different material than the full sized doll, and in my opinion, a better material. Somewhat thicker, fuzzier and sturdier than the meet moccasins on 18" Josefina. The shoe strings are a slick nylon cord that doesn't stay tied. And with these being miniature, the strings are WAY too short to re-tie! Her cloth torso and limbs are also exactly like the bigger AGs and everything about her miniature self is so perfect. Wonderful play value and Josefina loves having a 'just like you' doll for herself! Grade A Josefina Mini Doll 2000 version

The Josefina mini doll is one of the best mini dolls, IMO. She has the smoothest hair and is just adorable. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of her, but I give her an A+.

Mini Josefina is the most beautiful of the mini dolls. The biggest problem with her is that her moccasins don't stay tied.

Pretty doll. Her hair is soft, her clothes are easy to get on/off, but her shoes are little difficult to put on. Over all a cutie and gets an A from me.

May I offer my photos? I just want to throw in that I love her little shoes. They might be poorly made on big Josefina, but they're nice on the mini.

Glass-eyed mini-Josefina has arrived! YAY for me. Here are some comparison photos of her and my Mattel painted-eyed mini-Josefina. PC glass-eyed mini/ Mattel painted-eyed mini You are able to see many differences in the girls right off the bat. The PC doll is noticeably shorter. She measures 6" exactly while the Mattel mini is 6 1/4". Looks like a bigger difference, but when you're that small, everything looks grander. PC glass-eyed mini/ Mattel painted-eyed mini Her skin is obviously darker too. And her earrings are angled to face front rather than sideways of the Mattel doll's. The PC doll's arms and legs are more of a thick rubber than plastic and they are a bit flexible. Also the PC doll has a wig while the Mattel doll has rooted hair. PC glass-eyed mini/ Mattel painted-eyed mini She still is a lovely doll and has a unique face shape. We love her and are glad she has joined our family of minis.

Wow, those two dolls almost look like they are representing two different characters. The PC one looks more like a mini Mariana, while the Mattel one does resemble the Josefina doll better.
The Mattel one is much prettier. Not to mention the prettiest Mini Doll I have seen. Too bad the upscale toy store down the street only has the minis for Kit, Sam, and Molly.

I have recently received my mini Josefina and she is in a red box - unlike my other mini dolls. She also has a lower us selling price on the back - does anyone know when this one was made? She is lovely - the most beautiful little lady ever and the detail is gorgeous. I certainly give her A+

My 2002 (painted-eye) Josefina came in a burgundy box. The selling price went up Summer, 2008, (I believe) so your doll could be from anytime between say, 2000 and 2008.

Mini Josefina is so cute! She's definitely the prettiest of all the mini dolls. I love her tiny moccasins especially. Everything about her is so twee and darling! Grade: A

I just realized I never got around to reviewing my Mini Josefina. She is absolutely beautiful. Not only does this mold work out great for mini dolls- it works especially well for Josefina. Her face is so beautiful. Her hair is very well done. Her outfit is very proportionate (as compared to Ruthie's). Everything is done to scale. She is definitely the prettiest mini- which is expected, as she is the prettiest of the historical dolls. A+++

I really love my mini Josie! She was my first mini doll, and her quality is surprisingly good! I bought mine at a yard sale, so she is second hand.
Her hair has come unbraided a couple times, but it is so easy to do again. Its very soft and silky, and easy to work with. (Her braid has some fly aways, but I coulda been more thorough in my braiding....) A+++++
Her outfit is precious beyond words. Although I dont have a big Josefina to verify, her meet outfit is just like the big one! She even has little underwear. I got a kick out of that! The sash could be easily lost if left tied to loose, but I don't have any problems. A++
Her shoes come untied so easily!! They are not the most easy to tie shoes AG has going. They ended up getting really loose, so I took them off of her and put them where they wont be lost. Poor Josefina is barefoot now! I am sure that if I had bought her straight from AG that the shoes may not have been so...problematic. c+
Overall I really like Mini Josie! She has the sweetest face. Her eyes are so big, and a very accurate brown color! Even her skin is a perfect match to her character, big doll, adn heritage. Despite the shoes, I give this doll an A!

I have all the minis and Josefina is definitely one of the better ones. She has a great face, and her shoes are absolutely precious. Be careful of losing them. Her hair is beautiful and has stayed braided fine, but I'm not sure how that would be different with a child. A
