This outfit was worn by Felicity in the book Changes for Felicity in the short stories, "Felicity Takes a Dare", "Felicity Discovers a Secret", "Felicity's New Sister", and in the DVD Felicity: An American Girl Adventure. It was released in 1993 and retired in 2003.PC description: Oh, how Felicity hated to help with housework! But when she did she wore a striped gown of handwoven cotton so she didn't spoil her good clothes. Knot her kerchief around her shoulders, then tie her apron around her waist. And don't forget her mob cap - a must for dusty chores! The shawl is 16” by 11”. The linen is a little thinner and a little lighter than the cream on the sleeves and neckline of the dress. The fabric is folded-over and sewn along each side. It would be fairly simple to reproduce. The Shawl The Edges The Shawl and Felicity's Dress

Grade: A This is a beautiful outfit. It's very realistic and isn't too fancy or frilly like some of the other outfits. I like it with the kerchief and apron, but I also like the dress just by itself. The colors are perfect for fall and looks so historically accurate. The striped dress is very simple and subdued. The colors (pale green, pale yellow, off-white and gray) look great on my '95 Felicity. The trim is the same fabric as the mob cap and shawl. Next is the apron, which ties around her waist and is open in the back. It's a thin muslin with a tiny flowery pattern. The shawl is my least favorite part. It's an off-white cotton that's thicker than the apron, and although it looks like a square folded into a triangle it's really just a triangle. What I don't like is that it looks awkward tied around Felicity's neck, and it looks awkward hanging off her shoulders. I'm going to try putting it around her shoulders and pinning the corners in place across her chest, which looks pretty. Last is the mob cap. This is also very cute. It's trimmed with a mint-green ribbon that is NOT the same color as the dress. It's the same fabric as the shawl and has two layers of trim around the edge (below the green ribbon).

Ummm....hmmm......
I got mine off of Ebay recently (thankfully for a really decent price.) However, I'm starting to wonder if the kerchief I have is really AG. It's thin, not patterned, one layer, and barely large enough to tuck into the front of the dress. Can anybody shed any light on this for me?
Thanks!

I just recently got this dress off eBay, minus the apron and cap, and I love it! The colors are muted and look gorgeous on Felicity! I like how the dress is cut, the length is long and the neck is higher than the Rose Garden Gown. It also has the pocket slits unlike some of the newer dresses.

Grade A: Felicity’s work dress is probably my second favorite Felicity outfit. It reminds me of dresses I’ve seen in late 18th portraits. The set comes with a striped dress, an apron, handkerchief and a mob cap. The dress is a brown, light green and beige striped. It is so nice and simple. Also, I think the colors look great on Lissie. Unlike some of the newer Felicity dresses, Felicity doesn’t have to worry about her stockings showing with this outfit. One downside of this outfit is that it wrinkles easily. I like the ‘extras’ that come with this dress almost as much as the dress itself. The apron has a tiny design that does not subtract from the rest of the outfit. The mob cap and handkerchief are solid white. The handkerchief does bunch funny, so I leave it untied. The pieces not only look nice with Felicity’s work outfit, they also work well with her original meet dress, birthday dress, town fair dress, and new tea dress.

I just got this dress (along with the mob cap, noapron or kerchief) and I really like it. Its very simple and classic, but seems very accurate for the time. Its the kind of dress Felicity can wear anytime, unlike some of her fancier dresses. The only problem I have with it is that since its made for PM dolls its a little loose fitting on my mattel Felicity. A; would add a plus if it fit my doll better.

I must say that this is one of the Felicity items that is a must-have for me. Mine arrived in the mail yesterday and I was very pleased!
The pattern on the apron is very tiny, and it looks perfectly doll-scaled. It does lead me to wonder if that was intended to represent embroidery and if so, why Felicity would be making apple butter, taking care of Polly, etc. in an embroidered apron.
The skirt of the gown is surprisingly full! I'm used to the fabric-saving skirts of Mattel gowns and I was pleasantly (pun intended) that my 1996 dress has such a full skirt. Currently, Elizabeth is wearing it while asleep on the stable bench, and the dress is full enough to flow, elegant as a waterfall, all the way to the ground ~5 inches down.
It also has pockets! I don't have Lissie's undergarments but I do have a pocket I sewed, and Elizabeth can reach it without difficulty whilst in this gown.
(Elizabeth is wearing this because it's a birthday present for Felicity) The Work Gown looks gorgeous on Elizabeth! I believe the tan color in the fabric is around the same color as her hair. I'm not sure it would look good on a brunette though; I tried it on Jessamine (Jess) and it didn't look so nice. The apron FYI can probably be used for almost any post-1770s period--it looks nice on Nellie (1906), she has to wear it since I haven't made her a maid's uniform yet.
I think mine is small because it fits my Mattel dolls quite well. The apron is very versatile and looks good with her new meet gown as well. I don't have fichu or mob cap, but I think the fichu closely resembles the one she wears with the traveling gown in the movie.
All in all: A++++++++++++(imagine infinite plusses)
This was a 'Holy Grail' item for me, so to speak, and I'm not disappointed in it at all.

This is one of my favorite gowns of Felicity's. I remember seeing it in the catalog when my oldest was younger (too young for AG), and I'm not sure when it retired, but I think it must have been before she got her Felicity, because although she has quite a few of Felicity's outfits, she does not have this one.
I got this as part of a poorly photographed lot from Ebay. I wondered if one of the dresses was the work gown, and was SO excited when I pulled it out of the box. I only have the dress and the apron. I am planning on making the fichu. I don't think I will make a mob cap though, because I have a spare plain one that I think will work fine.
I give this set an A. I love the styling, which is like her original meet dress, and something about the homespun look of the fabric is very appealing to me. I guess I like that it is a dress, but it is not "dressy". The only issue I have is that it is seriously tight on our PM Felicity (I am not sure that we could fit a shift under it, never mind her undergarments). It fits DD's newer Felicity fine though.

I really love this dress. The pale green stripes and bow on the mob cap coordinate nicely with Felicity's eyes and the off-white color makes a nice change from the rest of her collection. I love the apron, which is made from a textured woven linen. For historical accuracy, Felicity can tuck the kerchief into her bodice or pin it closed in front. This outfit is just right for Felicity to wear on baking day or while gardening or working around the house. A Here are some pictures of the fichu and the pattern in the apron fabric. The apron tie is 34" long and 1/4" thick. The apron is 8 1/4" long and 8 1/2" wide closest to the waist and tapers down and out to 13 1/8" at the very bottom. The fichu is a triangular piece of muslin 16" along the top and 11" along each side. Only the apron is patterned. Mob cab is off-white muslin with pastel green ribbon

This dress made me a Felicity fan. Through a couple of mixed lots, I ended up with all the pieces and I LOVE it. The kerchief is a bit strange, and kind of small, but the mob cap is so awesome that it makes up for it. The dress and apron are good quality, pretty, and very Felicity-ish. I also like how the green complements her hair. A++

Felicity's work dress is ver similar to her Rose Garden dress. It is a simple striped dress which uses the same pattern as the other dress.
It comes with an apron and a mob cap.
For some reason, the dress does not match the illustrations in her book. I do like the colors of this dress.
The mob cap is double ruffled and has a ribbon, As always, I find it hard to get it to lie nicely on the doll's head.
The apron is surprisingly nice. There is a faint pattern to the fabric, which I feel maked the whole oufit more convicing. It is also quite long an would protect her dress nicely.
I like this outfit because I feel it is a more accurate representation of what she would have commonly wore. I also quite like the colors.

Felicity's work gown is very pretty even though it is a neutral stripe. It looks lovely on her. I don't care for the fact that the ribbon on the mob cap doesn't seem to match though.
