This was introduced in 1991 as Felicity's Tall-Post with Tester; the name later changed to Felicity's Bed & Bedding, and it retired in 2011 with Felicity's archival. (From 2007 to 2009 the Bedding was available as a separate purchase.)
PC description of Tall-Post with Tester: This fine hardwood bedstead has a soft mattress and pillow covered with a red toile counterpane. The bed hangings of traditional colored check include side curtains that you can pull closed to keep Felicity snug from the drafty night air. The matching canopy, or "tester," gives the bed an elegant appearance that's just perfect for pleasant dreams.
AG description of Bedding: Includes her counterpane, checked bed hangings, and canopy topper.
Felicity's Four-Poster Canopy Bed
Overall rating: A
Pro's: The bed is cute (and is not made of plastic)
Con's: The wood in the newer beds isn't the best quality.. It's somewhat cheap feeling.
Detailed Review: I purchased a Felicity bed from the 'Bay and I was pleasantly surprised when I got it- it's condition was better than I expected. I was somewhat dissapointed with the quality of the wood. It was very light, pretty much as light as plastic. However, this is a newer bed and the wood likely differs from its Pre-Mattel predecessor. The canopy part is very nice, a light cloth, again, probably different from the older beds.... The bed cover has a nice print that is very cute! I wish the pillow had a pillowcase and the matress had a sheet. I can probably buy those elsewhere, though. The bed is nice, if you have the space. I would try to get a Pre Mattel one, though it would be hard to find one in stellar condition.

I must say, this piece is cute and sturdy but also very large. I got mine premattel and over time not all of it has held up the best. The wood has a covering that is the "finish" and along the base of the legs it has started to peel up. Not the best look However I love that the screws have a little decoration that covers them so you cannot see them. If you have the room for it I would definitely say go for it. I keep the bed in the basement where it is suseptible to more changes in temperature and humidity (and who knows what else) I am fairly certain that the peeling wood was most likely just in my case but I wanted to point it out anyways.

The panels: I'm not too sure about these. One one hand, I like the colors both for Felicity and in general, and the design is simple and classic. On the other hand, they are confusing and the scale seems off. I got my bed and bedding used, so maybe the new ones come with instructions, but I was a bit clueless. The panels tie on to the top of the bed, as you can see in the above picture, and the canopy covers them. So far so good. But there are seven panels: five large and two small. The small ones are half the size of the large. I just stuck them on the foot of the bed, but I'm not sure if that's the right place or why they didn't just make six large panels. As for the scale, it looks fine in miniature, but it seems like it would be pretty large life-size. Maybe that was the trend at the time, but it's odd otherwise. BThe bedspread: This I like. I do wish it were a little thicker, but it's great otherwise. Nice colors, and the pattern is a good scale and seems historically accurate. A

As far as I can tell, Felicity's bed and bedding are identical to period beds and bedding. The only thing different is that in those days, people slept sitting upright because they felt it was better for their health. Prop Felicity's pillow against the headboard and this would look exactly like colonials beds I have seen in historic house museums.

Overall Grade: AFelicity's bed is a great piece of furniture, but it is huge and requires ample space to store and display. My bed was purchased during the early part of the Mattel transition period and is very sturdy wood. It comes with a little wrench and is easy to put together. There is a solid panel of wood that you set the mattress on top of - as you can see in the last picture, it is removable. The top canopy frame is also removable and sits on top of the bed with pegs. The bedding comes with a mattress (the same one that comes with Samantha's bed) and a pillow. The bedspread has a pretty pattern and is cut so that it fits around the bedposts. It is very disappointing that there were no sheets with this set! The canopy covers have strings sewn at various intervals and are tied to the top canopy frame. Included are 4 side panels, a front panel, and a back panel. The top has a canopy cover that is placed over all the tied panels.

I want to add a brief note of caution: please be careful storing your dolls on the bed. The finish rubbed off on my Sam. I had Sam on it for at least a couple of months--so I'm sure that was part of the problem--but she wasn't in sunlight or excessive heat. Otherwise, I like this bed best of all the beds because it looks the most "real" IMO. And it's just dang impressive, compared to other doll beds on the market!

This bed is absolutely a treasure! It is worth every penny and more. It is true that the other beds like Addy's and Kit's might be more versatile, but Felicity's is a true museum quality piece and I would recommend it to anyone. This is one of those quality items that will almost definitely be retired eventually. The reason no one can find a decent cheaper version is because it cannot be reproduced with the detailing that the orginal has. It is an awesome AG item and one my favorites and I don't even have Felicity.

Felicity's bed is beautiful! It is my favorite piece of furniture, and like her table and chairs, is still of exceptional quality. I absolutely love it and could not recommend it enough. It has great play value - sometimes my kitty will sleep in it, too!

I am considering buying Felicity's bed but I own both Felicity and Elizabeth ... I was thinking of buying only one bed instead of two, but only if two dolls could fit in one bed. Long story short: Do 2 dolls fit into Felicity's bed? My daughter has Elizabeth's bed, which is the same frame as Felicity's and she puts two dolls in it all the time. The actual platform the mattress sits on is 10 3/4 x 20 inches.

I will warn you- it does take up a lot of room, so I would only purchase it if you have enough room. I have two, and am definitely pleased, but decided on no more doll furniture until I am able to get more space to display my collection.

The bed is big, but it isn't any bigger (length and width) than the moon and stars trundle bed. The canopy and curtains take up a lot of vertical room. The curtains take up a lot of visual room, making the bed look like a tall, solid cube. If the curtains are off the bed, it takes up less visual room, even though the "footprint" of the bed is the same. PS: I just got my Felicity bed yesterday and I love it!! If fits in the same space as my trundle bed and is just an inch wider than my Josefina bed.

If this is helpful at all, I have Felicity's bed at the foot of my (full/double-size) bed. In terms of length, it takes up just about half the foot of my bed. The top of Felicity's canopy comes about 3" below the height of my mattress/box spring/bed frame, but my bed is also about 3" higher than most people's, so I'd estimate that Felicity's bed is about the same height as the flat surface of an average human bed.

I just received this and put it together for my DD. I kept hearing how big this bed is and while it is big, it is not as HUGE as everyone made it out to be. So if you have the space go for it.
This was easy to put together. It took about 15-20 minutes. It is very well made and gorgeous. Glad I bit the bullet and bought it before it is gone. This will be so pretty displayed in my DD's room when she is not playing with it.

I have a bit of a warning for the bedding. It bleeds red like an open artery if you put it in water. I quickly poured vinegar in some clean water and was able to stop it. Now all the ties are pink.
I just wanted to freshen it up and get rid of the odor from the former owner and was quite shocked how red the water turned immediately .

I just received this bed. I am very impressed with it overall. It is the older, pre-Mattel version, and it has held up well. The bedding is still very bright and not faded, and other than a few small nicks, the wood finish has held up well. It is a large piece, but no bigger than any other AG bed (length and width-wise). I did not have any problems putting it together. Hanging the curtains was a bit tricky. I had to read these reviews and look at pics to figure out where the shorter panels should go. It feels very authentic to me, after looking at several video tours of Colonial Williamsburg. Any Felicity fan should not hesitate to purchase it. I give it an A

A friend has this, and I now see what a gorgeous bed this is. I love the little brass covers and the toile and checked fabric is just beautiful. I may end up tracking one down for myself now.
