Addy Walker and Accessories: A+ Last week I purchased Addy at AGPNY. Addy is beautiful. In fact, she is one of the more gorgeous AG dolls I've seen. Some high points: Soft, long, easy to style hair. I love it! Nice coloring, although my dolls cheeks are a bit pale. I went through 10 Addy boxes trying to find a higher color doll, but no luck. The vinyl on the meet shoes is lower quality than my sister's PM Addy . . it feels very plasticy. . .They've done the same thing to Felicity's meet shoes, too. However, I think the bottom of the shoes is far sturdier. Adore the meet bonnet. It is so versatile! A plastic water gourd? AG, give me a break! That's just cheap. All other components of the meet accessories are comparable to PM quality, however. :)Addy's book is exceptional. Great story!

I just got my Mattel Addy the other day. I've always wanted an Addy (and a Samantha, too) since I was a child, but when I finally got around to it, I got Josefina first. Mattel Addy is very beautiful. Her hair is very easy to style and very fun to play with. I like her coloring, and her outfit and just everything about her. She's one of AG's prettier dolls. A+. She comes in a pink dress (very cute) with knee high stockings, drawers, and shoes, with her hair pulled back in a blue hair ribbon.

Grade - A-
I love Addy, but her hair tends to fall out ALOT when I brush it. Her body is very nice, and her hair is soft. She looks good in alot of things, and her eyes are a wonderful brownish color.
Addy's clothes - A
Her clothes fit perfectly to her body and they look so adorable on her!
EDIT: Her hair is also pretty thin.

Here are pics of 2 brand new Mattel Addy's so you can see how they vary from batch to batch: The Addy on the left has a wider face near the temple area, across the bridge of her nose is narrower, and her jawline is thinner. The Addy on the right has a richer skintone and fuller jawline. Both of these dolls were purchased in December 2007 and have American Girl LLC. stamped on their necks. Mattel Addy is less plump than PM Addy. Her skintone is more of a rich, warm brown. PM Addy has a reddish/rosy skintone and a plumper body with squishy vinyl. Both dolls are equally beautiful in their own ways. Grade: A+

I just got my Addy today for Christmas! Unfortunately, I got her without her accessories, but once I get them I will add to this review. Addy is such a beautiful doll and her expression is so thoughtful! I love her dress, pink is quite the lovely color on her! (And my favorite color!) I also really love her sturdy black boots and black tights. She's certainly becoming one of my favorite dolls . A+ mod edit to remove dead image link

I got to open Addy on my birthday although technically she is pre-graduation gift since I only have one semester to go. She is lovely and a great addition to my collection. In some lights she looks like she has a grayish cast/tone to her skin but she is beautiful! The accessories are nice, too. I love her necklace; it's very simple and would be easy to make a sort of matching one (even if you use a different type of shell, in case you don't have a cowrie shell) and the coin is neat. Addy's dress is a nice shade of pink and looks sweet on her. Her hair does fall out a bit when you brush it but I heard that's normal for her. Addy is another A+ girl! ETA more photos of my lovely girl!

I love my Addy. She's so hug-able! I bought her at AGPLA on 8 March 2008, and I am so glad that I chose her! I love her hair, her colouring, her story and time period, her earrings and her face mold. She does not photograph well, but she is absolutely gorgeous in real life, and she has the loveliest expression.

Addy really is a gorgeous doll. It's too bad Mattel can't figure out how to photograph her better. I thought she was so ugly until I saw photos here, and now that I have seen her in person, I think she is even prettier than the agplaythings photos. DD's new Addy is one of my favorite dolls.
I also love Addy's meet outfit (actually all of her clothes), it has always been one of my favorites and is even prettier in person. I think AG does way too much pink these days, but I've always loved the shade of Addy's meet dress and I think it looks so nice on her. I think the hat is really cute too.
DD seems to really like Addy as well, although she has been renamed Daisy. DD also got Addy's Christmas Dress and her Striped Dress, but DD hasn't put either on on Addy yet. I'm really looking forward to getting more of Addy's outfits.
My only complaint is the bit of glue in the part of her wig. My MIL bought Addy for DD, so I didn't see the doll until DD opened it. I don't think DD would like to be without her for long enough to exchange her, so I guess we'll have to live with it.

I got my Addy today, and she's beautiful, she looks better IRL than in pictures!
That said, on mine, the earrings seem to sit a bit more "off" than on the others I've seen, her joints seem kinda loose (though she can still stand up) compared to the other dolls I've gotten new, the book came a little bit warped, and you can see the skin of her wig cap a tiny bit in the front which looks a little odd. Though the wig bit was easily fixed with a black Sharpie. I was testing her joints a bit and wondering if they were dumping the returned and passed over dolls on the people that ordered the Christmas specials, and briefly wondered if it was bad enough to send her back (before I found she'd still stand up) and she just shot me a look that said "Don't you dare!", so that's that. Since she's not one of the ones I might consider reselling later, I don't need absolute perfection and incredibly tight limbs to prove she wasn't played with. And I think she'd kill me if I tried!
I took her hair down to check the rest of the wig, seems to be ok. Can't figure out how exactly to stick it back up like it was before, though. Her hair's less nappy than my PM Kirsten's - it feels a *lot* like mine. It's softer than my Samantha's when you lean your face on it, as I'm doing now to keep her upright on my lap while I type.
That said, I'm changing her history so that she made it all the way to Canada, rather than stopping in Philadelphia!

I got my Addy last Christmas, and I love her! She's such a pretty doll. I can't comment on the accessories though. Her meet dress is in the top 5 of my favorite AG outfits. My only complaint is that her hair falls out frequently! A- from me!

Addy doll and accessories = A+
Addy is SUCH a beautiful doll , she is probably my favorite. When I got her I HATED the hairstyle she came in. It was loose and hairs were flying out everywhere! The minute I got her out of the box I took her hair out. Other than that she is a fabulous doll! I have always been scared to get her because I was worried her hair would be hard to handle, but it's not! Her hair is soft and you can do SO many styles on her hair. Her accessories are O.K. I can't find much use for the cheap water gourd and dime, but they are nice to have. I think the bonnet and the necklace are FABULOUS. The bonnet is very practical. It will go with all of her outfits and looks adorable on her too. If your a perfectionist like me, you may find it difficult to get her hair perfect , so if there are a few bumps or two I just throw on the bonnet and it looks great.
I would DEFINITLY reccomend her for anyone. She is SO beautiful and id you like styling hair you will LOVE her!
Let me mention her book was fabulous! What an amazing story!

She is one of the most beautiful Mattel dolls out there. I normally like PM dolls better but I think the Mattel Addy is so much better then the PM Addy. I would pretty much recommend this doll to anyone. What I love the most about her is how versatile she is compared to the other dolls. Her hair looks amazing in any style and she can pretty much wear anything. She can pull off wearing certain outfits that other dolls can't. Also you have to love her because of her touching and inspiring stories. No one should ever read AG books without reading Addy's.
She gets an A++

Addy is gorgeous! She has the best hair, so much you can do with it. Her meet outfit is probably the best IMO, next to Kirsten's. If you are thinking of getting her I highly recommend her!

I got my Addy for christmas and I am soooooooooooo glad! I had changed my mind and stated I wanted Sonali before, but it turns out my Mom had already gotten Addy and just couldn't send her back, so I got both! Anyways, I think addy is the prettiest AG doll out there, sometimes it's hard to capture her beauty! Her dress is adorable, and her ,er, bonnet? is a must. She is my first Historical and I've decided I really like collecting for Historical dolls! Her hair is sometimes frustrating, but I find any type of braids keeps the hair managable and cute! ETA: Pictures!

Addy was a spur of the moment purchase. I never really planned on getting her, but I am so glad I did!!
Addy's hair was very frightening at first. I had not had another doll with textured hair before. After a few days of lightly patting her hair I became more confident. Now her hair is my absolute favourite out of all of my dolls. Also, as a side note, my Addy's hair has not fallen out at all since I got her. I defiantly do think if you are on the fence about getting Addy and you feel you are scared of her hair, get her anyway and you will fall in love like I did. Hair: A+
Addy herself is a very pretty girl, but she is hard to photograph. If you have just the right lighting you can get a really nice photo, though. Photogenic(ness): B
Addy's combination of the Addy face mold and her lovely rich skin colour is wonderful! I love her chubby cheeks, too! Beauty: A+
Addy's meet clothes are my FAVOURITE! I love the fabric of Addy's dress, it's so soft and hug-able! I also love her boots and knee high socks! So cute! Clothes: A+
Overall Addy is not a waste of money and she is a great dollie! I would recommend her to anyone. Overall: A++

Addy is an absolutely gorgeous doll. Her hair although frizzy is amazing and fun to style. Her outfits are incredibly realistic and her background story is heartening. I have long heard the complaints that the only African American historical character should not be a run-away slave, however the under ground rail road is paramount to black history and Addy exemplifies that. Addy was the third doll I ever received way back in 1997, however she remains one of my favorites and has since been replaced after years of play so that I can keep her BNIB for my collection. Grade: A

Addy Doll A++++++++++++++++++ ( the pluses are infinite! lol ) I LOVE Addy soo much! She was my first doll and my absolute favorite! I had some trouble with her hair in the past resulting in 2 doll hospital trips, but that's because she got tons of love She is my absolute best friend and she is gorgeous! And her collection is amazing! I can't wait to collect it all! Her meet accessories are very meaningful to Addy's stories, but after having them for 7 years, Addy's bonnet is beginning to fray and I have lost both her necklace and her half-dime . I will now have to get a new set on my next trip to AGPNY just because they are so important to Addy's stories as I mentioned above.

I got to go to the AG store in Chicago about 2 years ago. I was 25 then but I really wanted to complete my collection with Addy. So I got her and her Christmas dress. I love her! She is so pretty! I kept her hairnet on because the lady that sold her to me told me her hair was hard to manage. I haven't taken it off and don't plan to. I love her Christmas dress, I just wish they didn't retire her blue school outfit! I really like that one!

Addy! Addy is a darling. Her long soft hair is easy to style, and her warm skin tone looks great in a variety of outfits. Also I definitely want to pitch for reading the books. They are amazing and really bring this brave girl to life. No complaints about the meet outfit. A+ <30

I just got Addy about 2 weeks ago. She is the only brand new AG I have ever bought for myself (all the rest except for her and Emily, who was a gift from my Grandma, came from the thrift store). I wanted her because she was the only available historical that I did not already own to have been around since my childhood and I've always been a Civil War buff. She is actually much more beautiful in person than even pictures convey. I love her. I have not tried brushing her hair yet, but I have heard about it falling out (and seen one on Ebay missing chunks of hair), but according to her care guide it should be okay if you use a pick and not a brush. Anyway, A+ for Addy because she is gorgeous and overall very high quality (her outfit too). Great doll. I highly recommend her.
