The later version of the chair is a matte plastic. The earlier version is wood. Sometimes they send the older version. They sent me a Pleasant Co. table and Mattel plastic chairs. One of the chairs was damaged, and the replacement chair was a Pleasant wood chair. They must be clearing out the warehouse.

I recently got this set from ebay and I am pleased with it. I was suprised by the size of the table (14" across). I thought it would be a little smaller. My chairs have American Girl stickers, but are made of wood. Overall all this is a very sturdy set and is well worth the price I paid.

I have the Pleasant Co version with the wooden set of chairs. The solid wood table is painted solid brown with black paint swirls on the table top. The 14 inch diameter table holds lots of dishes, serving pieces, and accessories.

I just purchased the Mattel version of Addy's table and chairs. The chairs are definitely not plastic but are very lightweight wood with woven, natural-looking seats. The table has a very slick finish which at first glance looks and feels like plastic but can be attributed to lots of paint and sealers for protection. Looking underneath where the screws attach the legs to the table is where you can see that the material is actually wood. The lazy susan top fits nicely on the table and the set is quite attractive and sturdy. As I have not seen the PC set to compare with, I'm not sure of the differences in look and feel of the two sets. I would give this set an A- as I prefer the more natural look of wood ( without so much protectant) despite the fact that it would likely show scratches or damage more easily.

We have Addy's table/chairs and love them. The table is nice and sturdy. The dolls sit well in the seats and don't slip down. Someone mentioned about putting felt under the lazy susan, but our table came with a thin clear mylar like circular disk with a hole in the middle that I almost discarded because it seemed like just something that was used as packing to keep the lazy susan from rubbing on the table. Many years later, the thin disk is still under the lazy susan and it still works just great. So, if you do decide on getting the set, remember not to discard the functional "disk."
The chairs even make a nice display apart from the table and can be placed next to a bed, etc.

I just purchased this set (on sale and free ship) - what a bargain! I must say that I am very impressed with this set - it is truly fantastic! I like that you could easily fit 4 chairs around it. I also love that this table can transcend many time periods (I am using it for Kit) - it is such a flexible piece of furniture and is now ranked as one of my favorites. I also like that this table is very sturdy, so it's not easily tipped over - especially with all that glassware on it. I love this table with Kit's items on it - that is what I intended when I purchased it, but I do have to add that Skukla's table setting with Addy's set on it is absolutely enchanting! Addy's Table & Chairs: Addy's Table & Chairs close-up: Addy's Chair: Addy's Chair seat close-up: Addy's Table & Chairs set with Kit's items: Close-up of table setting: In conclusion, I give this set an A+! I'm honestly not impressed with this table and chairs. The first one arrived from AG with 2 of the legs broken off and the little wooden pin that connects the lazy susan to the table broken off as well. AG quickly sent a new one and I mailed the broken one back. The new one arrived intact (except again the wooden pin is broken off the lazy susan- easy enough to fix with glue) but you can see the texture of the cheap looking particle board underneath the paint. It isn't the color of the wood you can see through the paint, just the texture. Hard to photograph but definitely there. I thought about sending the set back and just not having her table and chairs but I really want Addy to have them so I'm going to keep them anyway. The little chairs are adorable and very well made though! It is nice how versatile the set is and it looks really cute with Kit's glassware and tablecloth.
