This outfit is worn by Addy in the book Changes for Addy. Released in 1994, retired in 2015.Addy’s winter coat of forest green wool is trimmed with plaid flannel at the cuffs, and closes with shiny black buttons. A fringed plaid scarf is sewn right to the front of the coat, a style that was popular in 1864.Addy's winter coat is made from thin wool and is not lined. It is a nice green color with a faux scarf stitched on to the coat. The scarf has little fringes that hang off it. The coat closes with real buttons which are very tiny and can come off and get lost easily. The coat is very pretty and the trim is also lovely. After trying this coat out in the snow, I can say that since it is wool, it repels snow very well and is warmer than it looks. Grade: B+

The subtle purple check in the attached scarf (not so subtle in this pic!) on Addy's coat works well with her purple knee warmers and mittens.

The coat not only looks great on Addy but keeps the snow from making her wet.

I've never been particularly fond of this coat, to be honest. I like to get things that are referenced in the books, but my Addy doesn't wear it often. While I appreciate the detail of the functional buttons (which may be a bit challenging for little hands to do up without assistance), and accept that the length and sewn-on scarf are period-appropriate, I would have paid more to get a coat with at least an inner lining and one that is better proportioned. As it is, the coat just doesn't seem to lay properly on my Addy. I think it could have been better designed. On the plus side, it is roomy enough to go over all of her outfits. It originally retailed for $18, and remains reasonable at $24. This item did not see a price increase as did many others in 2012. Considering value for price, but taking into account my own preferences where this item falls short, grade B+.

In pictures, this is not my favorite piece. I wasn't going to get it at all until I came across a PC one for $10 and figured that was the best time to take the plunge. In person, I like it quite a lot, actually. The color is very pretty, and the sewn on scarf is really cute. I have to agree that the buttons can be a tad tricky and one of mine is a little loose. The coat isn't heavy, so it doesn't make her look bulky when she has a warm outfit underneath. But when I get her bundled up in it, she looks nice and warm. While this looks good with the Christmas and school outfits, I must say that it looks unexpectedly great with the Stilting Outfit! I'll try to add a pic of that soon.
A-/B+, depending on your mood.

I recently purchased this new at AG Atlanta (in January, 2014) and was surprised to find that the coat still came with a hanger and pamphlet! Just goes to show that the stock on this item is not moving very rapidly.
I find that this coat fits Addy perfectly when she is wearing her hoops. Lovely color and texture. I'm very pleased with this purchase.

Addy's coat is such a rich lovely color of green and the plaid trim on the sleeves and sewn on scarf are so pretty. I love that it buttons instead of velcro.
