This set was released in 1988 and retired in 2008 during the first archival of Samantha's collection.
The most perfect accessories you can imagine are Samantha's stylish hat and muff made of make-believe fur. Nothing could be prettier or cozier for a young Victorian lady!Elegant Muff and Hat $16 SWOA Grade: A Very cute and soft and furry and white. The hat fits nicely and is fully lined with white satin. The muff is also fully lined and has a small white wristlet so she doesn't loose it.

I received the hat and muff today. I give the hat an A+ and the muff a B.
They are both very cute, fuzzy and white. As previously stated they are lined with a white satin. They seem durable- but obviously the color would be easily stained. The hat has an elastic within it, allowing the user to easily put it on the doll's head.
The muff can be held by a wristlet, but I give it a B because unless you rubberband the doll's hands together she won't be able to actually use it as a muff. This is fine during play, however I don't want to stretch out my doll's armstrings for display. But such is the nature of a muff.
Overall, nice items but the price does seem a little high without a scarf or something else. I've added pictures below of my Nora (aka Mia) modeling (sorry it is not Samantha).

I would only give the set a C. The fur is cute and soft, but the muff frustrates me to no end. I absolutely cannot get it on a doll and have it stay for more than a few seconds. I tried the suggestion above of rubber banding it, but that didn't work for me either. As for the hat, I'd like it a lot more if it laid more flat, like in the stock photo, instead of puffing up and making the doll look like a gigantic mushroom.

Samantha's elegant hat and muff are cute additions to her cape and gaiters. Like Leila has said, the muff is hard to position over the doll's hands, but it's possible if you bring her hands together with a rubber-band, then try to put the muff on. It's not a perfect fit, but her elbows don't bend. Grade: A

I love her hat! I got the muff to fit on both hands without a rubber band once, haven't tried it in a while. But I give this a A.

The hat is fuzzy, soft and warm. It's a great accessory piece. The muff, however is too small. It only fits one hand, much less two hands and a bag of roasted chestnuts like in the book. I prefer to use the muff from the Winter Magic accessories and gave this one to a smaller doll. Grade: B.

Cute! The look so good with her cape and garters. I have a little trouble getting the hat not to look poofy on her head, but its do-able. Not being able to fit both hands in the muff doesn't bother me personally, I think it looks a realistic size if she was real and could bend her elbows to fit in it. Pics!

The white hat and muff are soft and warm and are the perfect winter accessories for an elegant Edwardian girl. A+
