I went through four Samantha's before finding MY Sam. As soon as I opened the box and took her out of her previous owner's careful packaging, I was in love. She lacks facepaint and her hair is a little dry, but she's beautiful. She's PM and I love her, though she is much more pretty than the 1986 doll I bought and sold. (That one was creepy) She has the soft but shorter eyelashes and her eyes, at least to me, seem to be looking off to the side. It's unique, and I am so glad I was able to finally bring Nellie's friend and adopted sister home. : ) Doll photos 7/7 by RawrLicia, on Flickr Here she is with Jess Doll photos 7/7 by RawrLicia, on Flickr All three gals~ Edwardian Ladies by RawrLicia, on Flickr And as terrible as it is, I did a sort of review of dolls and two Sam's play a roll.

Samantha was my first Pleasant Company Doll. She was and is very well loved! Here are her stats and photos, I couldn't rate her anything but an A+ because I have loved her so for over 20 years...so I'm perhaps a bit biased She is not the most technically beautiful doll that I own but...who can compare to your first doll, right? SAM'S STATS PURCHASE TYPE: new, direct from Pleasant Company by my mom PURCHASE YEAR: 1991 (Christmas gift that year, it was the day before I turned 7) VINYL: Soft and Squishy SKIN TONE: Light-olive, darker than current "light" skin tone FACE PAINT: Minimal, but her cheeks still have a flush and glow to them BODY: Squishy and Tan HAIR: Light Brown and Wavy (I don't think it ever had true ringlets, even before all of the play) NECK STAMP: hand-written PLEASANT COMPANY w/ artist's mark In my mind, this is a young Samantha; 9 years old in the late summer of 1904 (Meet Book), a little tan and her hair a bit lightened by a summer in the sun at Piney Point. Here she is a "vintage" photo, the morning I unwrapped her (her hair has always been a bit fly-away): Here are some photos of her now: Samantha was gifted to me with the nicer, snap-closure meet Mary Janes, but she really prefers Rebecca's boots (and gave her other shoes to Mattel Samantha to play with). Here she's striking her "Meet" pose There are so many different Samantha dolls with many different looks over the years, but I'm glad that I was able to make memories with this one!

Samantha is a beautiful doll. She was my first. Mine was Made in Germany and has lovely soft roses and milk face paint, gorgeous soft brown eyelashes that curve around her eyes, and a sweet expression. She will always hold the most special doll place. Evangeline by Laura *, on Flickr
