This set was released in 1993 and retired in 2008 with the first archival of Samantha's collection.
Samantha's bathrobe is a Japanese-inspired kimono, which was very fashionable in 1904. It's edged in ivory satin that matches the tiny nosegays on the soft rose fabric. Her hand-crocheted slippers have looped "turkey work" trim and tiny satin bows.
The Kimono and Slippers is a wonderful set. It's made of super soft satin and is of wonderful quality! The slippers are hand-crocheted with tiny satin bows. Samantha loves to slip into her soft robe and slippers.
Price: $22 Grade: A+

I have the Mattel version, and I'm not crazy about it--the fabric has a weird "hand" (feels rough and easy to snag), and the rob itself is pretty shapeless. B-

The robe ONLY looks good with Samantha's nightgown, and as far as I'm concerned, it's ridiculously priced. I mean, really, $42 for a sleep set? For an 18" tall person?! Also, the booties are cute, but impossible to stand a doll up in. They're unbalanced on the bottom and slippery because they're just knitted slippers. They also slip off pretty easy.
I do love the robe, though, as an addition to Sam's nightgown. It's very soft and satiny...I'd love one for myself, I have to say. I give the set a solid B.

Is it me just me that the slippers look yellow on Ebay pics? I thought they were supposed to be white. They are off-white and could possibly look yellow in photographs.

The slippers are very cute and I love that they look handmade. The robe I really don't care for at all.
