This set was introduced in 1988 and retired in 2006.
A cotton knit undershirt and matching panties, a ruffled slip, and a pair of red and white argyle knee socks make up Molly’s underwear set. It comes with bobby pins just like Molly used to set her hair with.
This review is for Molly's underwear set. This includes an undershirt, panties, slip, knee socks, and bobby pins.
Molly's underwear is okay. I don't know about the other experiences that people have had, but I thought the undershirt and panties were a bit too tight on Molly. They are very "form-fitting," I guess you could say. The panties are not as nice as her meet bloomers, but they are actually pretty good to wear with pants since they are not at all puffy. The undershirt is nothing to write home about, but it would be good to wear under Molly's aviator jacket (since the aviator outfit comes with no shirt).
The slip is the best part of this underwear ensemble, in my opinion. It is simple and sweet, and I think it has sort of an A-line shape to it. There is a little red bow in the front, and I love the ruffles on the bottom hem. There is an opening in the back that is held together by Velcro. My only complaint about the slip is that since it IS underwear, I've tried to make Molly wear it under her school outfit, and I think having the slip underneath made the outfit a bit too tight on her.
The undershirt, panties, and slip are also edged by small lace.
This set also comes with knee-length red and white argyle bobby socks. They are cute, but I'm not sure if they would look good with any outfit because they are very bright and therefore kind of distracting, but that's just my own opinion.
Last are the bobby pins. They small and doll-sized and are made of metal. I really don't like them, though. I've tried putting Molly's braids up in them and they wouldn't hold, and when I tried pulling them out, they caught on her hair and made some strands frizzy. Maybe some people have had better luck?
Overall, I would say that you should get this outfit just for the slip, and maybe the panties/undershirt if you happen to need extra underwear for needy dolls.
Grades:
The slip gets an A.
Everything else combined gets a B/B-.
