I love her white jacket with the real buttons. A+ Ladybug jar: C. Plastic. Binoculors: A. Awesome, and it actually works. Book: A. Love that I can read about owls, etc. And the fact that Lanie can easily hold the book as she bird watches. Rating: A-

I did not buy this set but saw it at the AG store in Atlanta. I will add my observations though since there's only one review. This set didn't impress me much overall. The jacket, book, and binoculars were nice but the bug jar was much smaller than I expected. My DD actually only liked the bird book from this set. Will I buy this set for my Lanie? No, I won't. I do think the jacket is cute if the jacket is badly desired but otherwise I think you can find similar items for Lanie (a different nature book, a homemade bug jar, etc.) that would work just as well.

Lanie's Nature Set Item# G1875 $26
Lanie looks for wildlife wherever she goes, and this set is perfect for spotting birds with Aunt Hannah. It features:
* A denim jacket with silver buttons and a cute embroidered dragonfly at one shoulder * Binoculars that really magnify to help her spot birds in the trees * A miniature nature book to help her identify the birds she sees * A jar filled with faux grass and a stick with five little ladybugs for her wildflower
We bought this for our Lanie and we love it. The little binoculars actually work and are just the right size for her eyes.
The binocular strap around her neck is long, but then I realized it's so she can actually hold the binoculars since she can't bend her elbows. There is a grippy area on the binoculars and she DOES hold them very easily.
The plastic jar with the lady bugs is okay. There are no spots on the lady bugs, which I found odd, since in the book the part about lady bugs specifies the number of spots on their backs.
The DK book is excellent. I love all the miniature books.
The jacket is well made and the buttons actually work. No velcro! I think this set makes the Nature Outfit complete. Lanie likes it. Grade A.

The plastic jar with the lady bugs is okay. There are no spots on the lady bugs, which I found odd, since in the book the part about lady bugs specifies the number of spots on their backs. I remembered reading this, and took a look at the bug jars with the nature sets they had on display at the Dallas Bistro today (I didn't buy it, so I probably shouldn't do a full review). All of the bug jars I saw there had ladybugs with spots, so maybe yours was just a mistake? I dunno, but I thought I should mention it just in case someone was turned off the set by the thought of spotless ladybugs.

My DD just got this set for her birthday, and the lady bugs in her jar are spot less, not meaning clean, but without spots!!!
I think $26 is too steap a price for this set, as the jacket is adorable, but the binoculars and bug jar are cute, but not for that pricing. I give it a B, but the jacket is a must have!

This set is overpriced. It's super cute, and that's why I bought it but I was disappointed with how skimpy it was for the price. I think the jar with the bugs looks too plastic and unrealistic I really wish the stuff inside wasn't clumped together. I'm fine with plastic stuff so long as it doesn't look plastic, but this just looks cheap. Everything else in the set is fine, but I would expect a little more for $26.

I love this set, but it is not worth retail price. It is still a must-have for Lanie's collection, in my opinion.
I disagree with others about the bug jar. I don't find it to be too plastic-y and I like the detail on the lid. The binoculars are nice and have a snap in the back on the cord which is helpful because of Lanie's difficult hair. The book is also very nice (as is expected from AG book replicas) and has great detail inside. I really like the jacket as well. The quality is great and it goes great with her Nature Outfit.
Grade: B+, A if the price were a bit less.

There are already a bunch of good reviews on this set so I’ll just add a few more photos and thoughts. The jacket is pretty cute. As mentioned, it’s white denim with real buttons, button holes, and a light green embroidered dragonfly over the left chest pocket flap. The chest pockets are not real, just flaps. The sleeves don’t have buttons either, like some denim jackets do, which means your doll will probably wear the sleeves pulled all the way down rather than pushed up, but at least it’s easy to get the doll’s hands through them. B- The binoculars are very cute. They are red and orange plastic, with a white AG star emblem, a long grey cord that goes around the neck, and grey grippy parts that help the doll hold the binoculars. They can adjust by folding in the middle, and as noted in the reviews above, she can hold and look through them while keeping the strap looped around her neck. A I think the bug jar is cute. Yes, it’s plastic, with a stiffened cloth lid and red ribbon tied around it. It can be held by the doll by looping the ribbon from her hand, although I probably would have preferred a more substantial handle. The blades of grass and spotted ladybugs on the stick inside are not clumped together or fixed in one spot; they move around independently when you move the jar, but are long enough to always be upright in the jar. I like all the details here. A- I just realized that I forgot to take photos of the bird book, but luckily there are already some in prior reviews. It’s also a nice piece (but I love all the AG mini-books). A Overall, I think it’s a fun accessory set with some thoughtful details for backyard nature lovers. I wouldn’t be likely to hunt it down, but I’m happy it made its way to me.

The bug jar is cute and I like that it has ladybugs. the binoculars aren't particularly impressive being plastic. I love that Lanie has a nature theme, but there just doesn't seem to be enough to this set.
