I bought this doll particularly because I don't know many collectors who have her. I didn't even expect to really bond with her as I was just on a kick to see if I could own all of the AGTs. Well, I am since over that kick, and have begun selling off my dolls. Everytime I find Kadijah (what I named my #1) in the sale pile, I pick her up and dust off her face and put her in the keep pile. I decided tonight that Kadijah stays, and decided to do a review for her (since there wasn't one). I'm still not fully sure that I've bonded with her, but she has something on me, I guess. I love her textured hair. I don't have a preference for PM or Mattel, but I do notice the differences. My #1 is a Mattel purchased online two years ago. Her hair is much softer than my 1994 Addy, my 1995 #15, and even my 19?? #18's hair. I love her original style so much that I have never changed it. I have never even brushed her hair. It is so soft I can just run my fingers through it. She has a more slender face, too and she is one of the newer bodied taller Mattel AGs. She has stayed strung tight the entire time that I've had her For right now I am going to give Kadijah a B-. I'll probably change my mind later and come back to give her an A because that is what kinda hold she has on me. This is Sarady Grace - I bought her after falling in love with Dionne's #1 in January of 2005. I was a little disappointed in her colouring I find her very light and was hoping for that rich brown I see in some dolls. She is very sweet though.

Here is Taliesha as she arrived from AG: She was shipped with my mini-me, #17. The dolls were my reward to myself late last year for overcoming a fear I've had for years. I just love that whoever packed them at AG put them so they could talk to each other on the trip over, even turning Taliesha's head to face her sister!
I love her hair but I am not good at 'doing' things with it. The two different length sections of hair faze me a little, but hopefully I will learn. She's a really gorgeous doll. A+
Seeing Sarady modelling the African dance/Folk outfit is making me think Taliesha needs that set!

I can't take pictures yet, still no decent camera, but my JLY1 arrived today. I wondered about her skin given what Kym said, but she's quite dark (Which is good - she's being made into a pre-existing character, who is dark-skinned, so I had my fingers crossed). So I guess that can vary a lot from doll to doll.
Still working out what to do with her hair, with it being two-length, but it looks great as it comes in the ponytail and plait.
Interesting to note the height comparison - I just posted about that on the main board, she's taller than my Kit.

Here are some pictures. Both Addy and JLY-1 are among my favorite dolls. For comparison purposes, both Addy and #1 are transitional-era dolls purchased in the early 2000s. Differences: eyes (Addy has light brown, #1 has dark), wig (most MyAG-1 dolls have layered hair due to the braided half-ponytail style that they came with, Addy's hair is also a bit longer and has a center part), and #1 does not have earrings.

I was initially reluctant to add #1 to my collection due to the uneven wig issues so many have reported, however when she appeared at the MCM sale I caved and she came home with me. Although she does have one small section of hair that is longer than the rest due to the way it was cut when half up, her wig is otherwise even and does not have the two distinct lengths that many #1 and #15 dolls have. She does not have a part and her wig is constructed differently than the dolls that I have seen with a part. The wefts of hair in the top section of her wig are laid across the front rather than front to back which allows for more freedom in styling. With her sweet face and hair that is a dream to style I am happy that she is part of my collection.

I just got my new #1 today! She's really pretty. I never really paid attention to her for a long time because I thought she looked so much like Addy that there wasn't any reason to get her. But recently I've seen a lot of nice pictures of others' #1s, and I found I really liked her look. Yes, she has similarities to Addy, but enough differences too. I'm really glad I have her now!
