In the 1850s, these undergarments were considered essential to proper dressing. Girls wore a double-hoop crinoline like this one to add fullness to their dresses. Includes a ruffled chemise to go underneath for comfort. This item was released in 2011 and moved to Addy's collection after Cécile and Marie-Grace's archival in 2014. You can read additional reviews HERE.
First of all, I don't know a whole lot about historical undies, I just know I love them! I'll let someone else review their accuracy. I was a little surprised at the color - they looked very pale pink online, but they're a bit brighter in person. I love that the hoop is flexible. I could get Cécile's dress on over it without any problem, which is great. I was worried I'd have to pull her dress over her head and risk messing up her curls. It comes right to the end of her meet dress, so I hope they don't skimp on fabric on any future dresses, or you might have to adjust the hoops to hide them. Overall, A+ just cause I'm thrilled AG is making undies again!

I snapped a few pics comparing my Harriet's (Cécile 's) crinoline with Addy's. My Addy's hoop circumference is definitely bigger and also shorter.

I like this set a lot. Both the chemise and crinoline fit nicely under Marie-Grace's clothes. I would definitely recommend putting the chemise on first, then the outfit you want your doll to wear, then lifting up the skirt to put the crinoline on underneath. Marie Grace's outfits seem to fit perfectly over the hoops! Just a warning- it's hard to hold the doll (especially for hair styling) when this is on because it makes her a bit bulky. I find it's best to put this on Marie-Grace when she is being displayed only.
My only complaint (which is small) is that the chemise is not soft at all.

Worn by itself, the chemise makes a nice sundress for Kanani (sorry the photo is a bit overexposed): Kanani by Owlipoppet, on Flickr

For anyone who has Cécile or Marie-Grace you HAVE to get this for them. It makes a huge difference in appearence of the dresses. I'm so glad I got it. I loved it as soon I saw it. It's a must have for all C and MG collectors. I'll post pictures soon!

Anyone else have a hard time getting dresses on over the Chemise? It just looks so bulky to me that I usually don't even bother with it.

Anyone else have a hard time getting dresses on over the Chemise? It just looks so bulky to me that I usually don't even bother with it. My chemise fits pretty much just right. It doesn't make the dresses too tight and it's usually not very noticeable under Cece's clothes. It is the tiniest bit higher in the neckline than M-G's summer dress, but that's my only complaint about the fit. This is my new favorite AG item ever. It gives her the most darling silhouette and I'm extremely glad I bought it. The chemise is adorable, but the crinoline is fantastic. I love that it's flexible and feels like it would hold up well to play. I don't have Addy's, but I heard that it's a bit more fragile. This set is a must-have. It doesn't make as much of a difference in pictures, but in person the difference is really noticeable. A+Look at that bell-shaped silhouette! It makes my heart leap.

I purchased MG today and the one thing I wanted to make sure to get was this set. I may be in the minority but her dress isn't hanging down over the bottom hoop of the skirt at all. Now that I'm looking at the pics I may try to adjust it. Too tired to try tonight.
Just posting as a warning that for some folks it might not fit all that well under MG's Meet Dress.

I thought this wasn't a must have item since it's only worn under the doll clothes, but I finally purchased two just to complete my NOLA collection. I have to say that I love this set! I ended up buying two more. One for addy and one to display on a dress form. The crinoline makes the Nola outfits fill out nicely and does just as much magic for Addy's wardrobe.

A friend has this and it's really cute. the chemise looks sweet with the bottom ruffle and the crinoline holds out MG & Cs dresses very well.
