McKenna's Dog Item# W0744 Price: $24 Grade - D I examined McKenna's puppy, Cooper, pretty thoroughly at the Dallas store yesterday, as I usually like the dogs and had toyed with the idea of getting him. I thought he was really cute in the website photos, but supposedly, he's poseable and I ended up feeling pretty disappointed with him, especially for the price. The top of his body is plush, like Sprocket or Kanani's dog. I was expecting him to be like Talto, with wires to help him hold poses, but he doesn't have that. This dog's legs are filled with some sort of plastic beading material (think beanbag, but not as big as beans) that really don't do much but flop around. None of the dogs I handled wanted to stand up at all (I checked out all of the display dogs, as well as one in a box in case it was a malady that was limited to the display doggies); The front legs would stay straight, but the back legs kept folding under. That caused the dog to keep flopping down into a seated position and I couldn't get one of them to stand up for more than a few seconds. As I said, I was pretty disappointed and did not purchase him. Images: They're from the display and are kind of bad, but you get an idea of what I'm referring to: His leash is the same as Sprocket's, only a different color, and it isn't removable.

When I checked him out at the AGP yesterday, I was disappointed as well. His back legs never fully stood up, and he was always half sitting, half standing. His leash is exactly like Lanie's bunny leash (the name escapes me at the moment...) Exactly the same as far as I could tell. I would not spend $24 on him, especially since he's not a big part of her books I did like his size, however. And his fur was very curly. I liked his appearance, but not his legs.

We did buy Cooper because he's a big part in the books and McKenna needed him.
His bottom and paws have beads in them so he'll stand and sit better. I had no problem re-arranging his stuffing and beans so he'd stand up. He's very plushy and cute. We love him here!

I must've gotten a good Cooper because mine stands up pretty well. He's cuddly and cute, and I like him! B+ (price and non-removable leash)

Ok, I had to buy the Goldendoodle puppy because I have one. They did a fair representation of Goldendoodle puppy fur. But she will not stand up, she only sits. The stuffing where the leg "joints" should be doesn't seem to want to shift much. It seems odd that they'd make a toy dog that only "sits" & "stays". I'm disappointed because, like I said, the fur is right but what puppy just sits all the time? If AG claims it can stand then it should be able to stand. And if I was a child I wouldn't want it to only sit, I'd want it to run around barking & jumping up on the bed & it has to stand to do that.

Ok, I had to buy the Goldendoodle puppy because I have one. They did a fair representation of Goldendoodle puppy fur. But she will not stand up, she only sits. Should I try to get CS to send me one that does stand or do any of them? When I went to the store, quite a few of them wouldn't stand up as well. But some of them could. Try working and mold the back legs. If nothing works, I'd say call CS. If you plan on going to a store anytime soon, pick one out, and make sure he's just right BTW, I saw a picture of your Goldendoodle, and just love him!

Mine doesn't stand very well either, sitting is what he does best. I have to really scrunch his back legs back and take time to position him to stand...no matter thou because he is so soft, cuddly, adorable and has the cutest puppy face I'd love him, if all he did was stand on his head.

I went to the store on Jan. 1st and was playing with display dog. It was my take that it was made to be a sitting not a standing dog.

As mentioned in other reviews, Cooper is plush with beads in his butt and paws. He has soft and curly fur and an engaging expression.
My Cooper sits and stands pretty well. He does have a slight tendency, when standing, to lean like a drunkard but with a little adjustment, he's fine.
He's very cute and I would probably buy him again since he is a big part of McKenna's story (and because I generally make a point of getting the dolls' pets). Having read other reviews and comments on AGPT before making my purchase, I was aware that he isn't actually pose-able in the way suggested by photos on AG's site showing Cooper holding up a paw.
I do think it's a shame that he isn't poseable though. If MyTwinn can do it (I have a MyTwinn Dalmatian puppy who has armature inside and is extremely cute and poseable) I don't know why AG cannot. Especially when they did make Sandy (Kailey's dog) with armature.
I give Cooper a B because he's cute but I think he is overpriced for what he is (not poseable).

Cooper arrived this morning as part of my free shipping order. I love him! I think he was a little overpriced, even with the free shipping, but I had to have him because he's so darn cute. And I didn't want poor McKenna to be without her dog. For some reason, I was expecting him to be a bit smaller (probably because the only other pets I own are Barksee and Sugar, who are both quite small), so I was pleasantly surprised to discover that he is a little larger than I had anticipated. I love his curly fur and sweet face. He can stand up pretty well. The only thing I didn't care for was his collar and leash, so I decided to snip those off and make him a new collar. He gets an A- from me.

I love Cooper, especially because he had a presence in the books! I tried rearranging the beans in his bottom and was easily able to get him to stand up, but had trouble making him completely sit. I wish his leash could come off. I also wish he had a bit more weight to him, as he was very light and fell over easily. At least he is adorable and soft!
Overall Grade: B+
