Your American Girl is the guest of honor in this pretty lavender birthday dress. Slip on her matching sandals and bracelets, and do her hair with two beaded ponytail holders. She’s ready to celebrate!

This is a very simple, A-line dress in a lavender cotton fabric with sequin detail. The sequins are a complementary shade of lavender and are arranged in five-petal flowers all around the front of the dress. The dress I have has seven such flowers; your mileage may vary. There are no sequins on the back of the dress, which closes with Velcro. It wrinkles easily. B+
Detail of sequins:
The dress came with three lavender, white and blue beaded bracelets, and matching beaded flower pony-tail holders. The ornaments snapped off of the barettes with a minimum of handling, so F for those.
Bracelets:

The shoes are ick, not good. They are basically black and purple foamy soles like you could buy at a craft store, with purple tubing-like straps. Not flattering, and it's hard to get the doll foot all the way in because there are too many straps. Plus, they have this folded-under heel that makes the doll unstable if standing on her own. I am not a fan of the shoes. They get a D-. The only good thing about them is the black and purple color combination, which has a strange appeal for me.
The Shoes of Ick:
Overall, I think it is a pretty dress. I like its simple sophistication. Probably not something a real 10 year old would wear well, but hey, Mieko likes it and has enjoyed modeling for you. The bracelets and hair ornaments are all pluses, but the shoes are lousy and reduce the overall grade.
I give this an B+ overall. It originally retailed for $22, and doesn't go for a whole lot more than that if complete on EBAY now.
