The outfit is pretty cute, but not a real keeper in my book. It has soft velour, ribbed, and stretch leggings in black. There are teal socks and maroon undies with a white elastic. The velvet crusher hat is pretty cute with small details from matching fleece like her jacket.



On the sleeve to her jacket is the older AGT embroidered design.

It is a nice set but *shrugs* not something I "have to have". It will probably be staying with the doll when she moves on to her new home.

i just wanted the jacket because I think it's cute and colorful! (My dolls are getting it on Christmas as I already wrapped it up for them).

ETA: I love this jacket on Jess-I think she has claimed it for the most part.

I think the rating for this outfit would definitely change from person to person. I LOVE this outfit, but only because it brings back good memories of when I was younger. It is the outfit my doll came in, and my friend and I used to dress up our dolls as "twins" in it. So, I'd say if you're looking on eBay for retired outfits to buy, this isn't necessarily worth it, but it's a keeper for me. I still give it an A.

I actually couldn't stand this outfit. I thought it was garish and nothing a real girl would wear, and I might have a slight bias against it because Liz was trapped in it for the first four years she lived here.

I tottaly agree.... I do not think any real girl would wear that ugly yellow jacket! Sorry no offense, anybody. I also do not like how the fleece feels like felt. I think that some of the edges are somewhat raw(?).

That outfit was on the dolls when I was twelve, and I remember thinking it was slightly out of style, that and my cousin, who was around 8, was hoping that they would change outfits soon. Luckily for her, her doll came in the red vinyl jumper outfit.

This was on the dolls in 1996--and to me it looks well, rather late 1980's ish. I would have never been caught dead in it as a girl, but then again my mom got me to wear a turquoise striped jumper with leggings in first grade...

I give this outfit a C. I dont like the fact that it seems poorly made as far as the fabric. The colors don't seem to wok together to me. Still its very 80's or 90's fashion so if it were back then I probably would at least give it a B.

With the revival of 80's/early 90's clothes and bright colors, this might become one of the most popular AG outfits, LOL. I actually really like it, and I had several pieces just like it at the time; it may have been in style on the east coast where I live.

The jacket - the jacket really ties the outfit together. Yes, it is made of fleece, which is very soft but begins to pill over time. I've had mine for ten years though, so considering that the wear is not too horrible. The edges are cut with a funky zigzag and though the edges are raw the fleece has not frayed. The buttons are sewn on fairly well, and there are actually little notches for buttonholes so you can close the jacket. The AG girl logo is embroidered on the sleeve. A-

The t-shirt - Another piece I had in different colors! Striped shirts were really "in" at the time. This one is supposed to represent a mock turtleneck and is patterned with pink, purple, gold, teal, and black stripes. It fits the doll well without being too tight, and velcros heavily up the back. It is long enough to tuck into the slacks and can also be used with the Terrific Tubing set. A-

The slacks - I'm a bit confused by the slacks. Mine are heavy black cotton (I think), but I have seen several sets where the pants are velour. Maybe this got changed later on? I got my set in 1997. Anyway, the pants could mix-and-match well, particularly with the earlier AGoT fashions. They stretch at the waist and are very soft. The only flaw I can find is that they are rather short when Amanda tries to sit down. Again, stretch pants were ALL the rage and I wore them all the time (in black) at this age. A-

The socks - These are very cute and I had an identical pair. They add another pop of color and fit under several pairs of shoes. A

The shoes - a pair of velvet flats that goes not only with this set but also could pair with several of the black holiday outfits. They were very tight on the doll but look nice with the outfit. They resemble a soft pair of Josefina's Christmas shoes. A

The underwear - these I found to be a bit lacking, as 1) They are huge and 2) They are unfinished and have just a piece of white elastic as a waistband. However, they are the only pair of underpants Amanda has had for all these years, and they have really held up very well. B+

The scrunchie - this piece matches the t-shirt but didn't get much use. It doesn't twist very much, and is too bulky to hold a small amount of hair. I use the rainbow beaded barrettes from the Doll Hair book instead. C

I know I'm in the minority but overall I think the outfit is really cute, and looks fine even without the accessories, unlike some of the later outfits. (However, if anyone wants to get rid of their accessories PM me!)

The PM AGOT #16 I just got came dressed in this, without the accessories. I agree it looks like it dates from before '96. It looks very 1991 to me. Even at the time, I think people thought it was dorky. '97 was when I got my first AG doll, and I was originally going to get an AGOT, but my mom convinced me to get Samantha instead, partly because she hated this outfit. My friend who did get an AGOT the same year also didn't like it. And I really don't remember young girls wearing something like this then. I like it now better than I did then, but it's kind of bland--even with all the colors--without the accessories. I actually like the very first AGOT outfit better than this because it already looks so nicely....assembled (?) even without the accessories.

This seems to be what my stepsister's modern doll came in. Honestly, I think it's cute. She's missing the socks, scrunchie, and accessories, and the corduroy pants are stretched. However, everything else seems to be in good shape, including the jacket, underwear, and shoes. She wears the jacket in the winter, and the shirt and pants are great mix and match pieces. Maybe it's a bit colorful and dated for everyone's taste, but it has its uses.

My PM #7 came in this meet outfit.

This is the first AGOT meet outfit I ever saw. One of my childhood friends, the one who more or less introduced me to the dolls, had a #12 who came in this outfit. At the time we thought it was sort of loud and silly... but we rather liked it anyways, even though her doll would wear the t-shirt and pants without the jacket more often that not.

The outfit has it's own charm... a bit garish, yes, but still cute in its own way. The shirt and pants are nice... Ivy has snatched them for herself though. The flats are the same as the ones that came with the '95 meet outfit... they're soft, basic, and versatile.

It is high quality though. Overall, I'd give it a B+.

My dolls still wear the black velour pants and the tee shirt mixed and matched with their newer outfits. None of them are too wild about the jacket but I need to show it to Jess as the one wearing it in the photos in this thread looks so cute. The hat is really dated and none of the dolls want to wear it anymore.....think it was modeled after what the girl in the tv show, Blossom, wore.....but I may be wrong. All in all a good mix and match outfit and so much to it...hat, scrunchie, pants, tee, jacket, underwear, socks, and shoes! Sure is much more then what is being offered now! Also I think the series of blank books for you to write your doll's own story was still being offered with the American Girl of Today in this outfit.

Though I've heard a lot of complaints about the jacket, I can vouch that the loud yellow fleece things were popular among kids during those years. I bought one from one of the children's stores, can't remember which one that several of my then little boys wore. The same bright yellow but hoodie in style. A lot of little ones wore that color or the hot pink or bright turquoise.

This is what Jesse was wearing when she arrived more than 20 years ago.
Her black pants were a sturdy knit and are still a great mix and match piece with, for example, some of the Christmas sweaters.
The black velvet hat is really a bucket hat with a twist and can be worn plain or re-trimmed.
Jesse wears the striped shirt under her much appreciated gray jumper, with black tights and the black shoes. I managed to get a second pair of shoes recently -- they didn't wear especially well, but the shape was flattering.
The jacket is, um, a bit bright, but with the outfit above, it's kind of cute even now with Jesse's caramel blonde hair and subdued face coloring. A friend tried it on an early GoT Addy look-alike, and she looked like an Elvis imitator. Much depends on the wearer, as it does in real life.
Once she got other clothes, Jesse seldom wore this as an outfit, but the pieces are still appreciated.
