This item was released in 2012 and retired with archival in 2015.When Caroline sets off on her journey to find Papa, she packs everything she'll need for the trip. Your girl can re-create the moment today with this set, including: Five faux gingerbread cakes and two pretend apples. A cloth napkin, special gift from Caroline to Papa—a map of Lake Ontario that hides a secret message! A woven basket to hold it all.Caroline's travel basket is a very well-made little basket, sturdy and solid and could stand up to play (though maybe not "throw it in the toilet or on the floor then step on it play!) The two little apples are cute, with a sweet blush to them - they look like Pink Lady apples, instead of bright red "traditional" apples. The gingerbread cookies look like blah little round brown discs, I'd like to see either a piece of cheese added down the road, or at least a bit of accent paint on the cookies. The real star of the show is the embroidered map included. I know some folks were wondering why the heck this should cost what it does. Behold: The entire thing is embroidered, and could not be sweeter! You can actually read the stitched letters. I love it, and kind of want a second one to frame or put in a tiny embroidery hoop!

This set is the star of Caroline's collection, IMO! The basket is sturdy and well made, and I can see it having lots of uses in play. The apples and gingerbread cookies are fine, I just wish the cookies were more interesting. Maybe different shapes or some icing? The apples are a pretty color, not just bright red. I agree some cheese or bread loaves would have been a nice addition. The napkin is nice, but the embroidered map is STUNNING!!! That right there is worth the price of admission, folks. I may buy another set just so I can have another one to make into a firescreen. I just wish they had embroidered the 3 x's on this map, like Caroline did. Would have made it truly incorporated into the storyline. I give this set a big A+++++.

I agree with all of the above, just wanted to add that the food surprised me, in that the apples and cookies are like a really hard rubber - definitely have some "give" to them and not hard plastic. Also, some photos with a doll for size. IMG_0065_rev by cbddallas, on Flickr IMG_0046_rev by cbddallas, on Flickr IMG_0038_rev by cbddallas, on Flickr

A woven basket to hold it allA very well made set! The food is not clumped together (PLUS!) and the napkin and map are cloth! This is a purchase that can be used (except for the map) in all eras and in many different ways. In fact Inkpot has decided the basket makes a comfortable bed:

I wanted to say that this is a WONDERFUL set! The cookies are rubbery, but that makes the cookies appear soft like gingerbread cookies I think are supposed to be. The apples have wonderful color on them! This was a must buy for me as I have 5 dolls; so each doll can have a cookie with this set. This set has a LOT of play value for kids AND collectors. Even if you don't collect Caroline I highly suggest this set for any of the other Historicals or Modern dolls! A++!

My friend like to show Caroline going for picnics with her mini dolls, which I think is adorable! I will be buying this set as soon as I find the money. Everything is really good quality and I absoloutly adore the little map, I keep stroking it, because I'm weird like that

This set is adorable, the quality is very nice . I am giving this to my daughter for Christmas. So it hasn't been played with yet. I give the set an A+.

I got this yesterday as part of my free shipping order and I have to say, it is a really well made set! I noticed, though, that the food is scaled a little too large - more like 1:2 scale than 1:3 scale. The apples are huge, and look odd compared to the apple cake which has little tiny apple slices garnishing the top. The cakes are similarly too big - I imagine, were they real, they should be the size of a Chips Ahoy cookie, but these would be as big as a cookie from Subway! On the left are Kirsten's apple and one of Josefina's bizcochito cookies, on the right are Caroline's items. You can definitely see the size difference! (Although, in fairness, I think the older items are actually a little on the small side too.) The detailing is very nice though, there is some texturing on top of the cookies and some nice shading on the apples. A+ for quality, B- for sizing issues! The basket is also nice and heavy, and real wicker! I love the weave of it, it will be great for so many things. I've put Caroline's sewing items in it for now and that looks really nice. The napkin is sweet and will also be useful. A for both. Of course the best part, though, is the map! It's the reason I paid full price for this set, I wanted to get it now in case AG starts printing or decaling the design in the future. The embroidery is beautiful and looks just like samplers from the time. Oddly enough, the illustrations in the book show a much simpler design, but I like this one better and feel it is more authentic. A+++! I put mine in a little embroidery hoop so I can have Caroline working on it. Pics of the sampler and the basket:

This set is wonderful. The basket is extremely well made of real wicker and the apples and gingerbread cakes are quite realistic. The map is gorgeous and completely embroidered. A=
