What's the best way to take her braid out without her hair being crinkly? If I get it wet will it damage it? No, wetting it is probably the best way to get the crinkles out. Or using a plastic steamer. But do not get the steamer near her eyes.

I just got Mia yesterday, and it was clear as soon as I pulled her out of the box that she wasn't going to be "Mia". I changed her clothes. ( I bought her the silver belle outfit!) and took out her braid and fluffed out her hair a little. This doll turned into a ravishing beauty! I renamed her Lydia. I don't even think I'll read her Mia book, it's just not who she's meant to be.
I'd give Mia a B. I don't really like her meet outfit. The sweater is cute, but the skirt is kind of cheap. Her shoes and the braid in her hair make her look frumpy. It is after all a workout outfit, something she'd wear after school while she's practicing rather than something cute she'd wear to school. Maybe if you paired her meet sweater with a cute jean skirt it could have potential.
I'd give my "redone" Lydia an A. No, I didn't do anything cosmetically to her and, yes, it's the same doll, but when you change her clothes out of her frumpy workout stuff, she looks so much better! She's got this creamy skin and cute freckles and her eyes are gorgeous. They have so much detail. I love her hair color. It looks highlighted with darker and lighter streaks mixed in. Her braid is still a little crinkly, but I'm sure that if I wet it down and brush it out a little, it will smooth over. She cleans up nice in a nice dress! Perfect for play and display.

Grade: A
Eyes: I absolutely love American Girl's hazel eyes. I myself have hazel eyes, and Mia's look gorgeous!
Hair: I love her hair to bits, but of the reason she has a sold A, is because after I took the braid out, she has more hair in the front and it falls into her face. I'll get a picture of this.
Outfit: LOVE. ;D
Her shoes and underwear are sadly, the best parts of this outfit IMO. I love converse, own three pairs, and now I need a turquoise pair! Her skirt is tight on her, and hard to pull up. Her sweater is tight on her too, but I honestly think I rather, have a fat doll since she can barely wear any other clothes. The tights are great, but I prefer white.
The skirt is the other reason why she has a sold A. Great Doll! I simply love LEs!

When I finally got the courage to take Mia out of the box, it was clear to me that I didn't like her 'meet' outfit. Especially the way it fit her -- very bunchy, makes her look 'fat.' And it was difficult to remove as well, especially the skirt. Thankfully, unlike Nicki, Mia does have underwear. The doll herself is wonderfully unique -- she has strawberry blond hair that's very brushable and gorgeous hazel eyes. And her freckle pattern is very different from Haley (#23) or Nicki. I'm having trouble deciding if she'll stay as Mia.

I will give Mia an "A".
This is our first 18" AG doll, though, and so I really have nothing else to compare to.
Eyes: I LOVE the eyes. A+ Hair: I LOVE the hair. A+ I know that isn't very descriptive, but I think the combination is just very unique and beautiful together. I also love how the hair is just a bit different with that braid.
Clothes. B. My daughter really likes the sweater. I think the skirt is a pain to get on and off. The shoes are cute.
Overall grade. A. I've never had a love of dolls. I was always a stuffed animal girl. I enjoyed my barbies. I also recall my mom having this doll where you could press the belly button, and pull the hair to make it longer. The one thing I liked about that doll, was that the hair is so playable. That is what I'm loving about these dolls. The hair play is very fun, and I think Mia has hair that really lends itelf to play.

I have had a couple of Mia's. On the first one, you could actually see her wig cap on her forehead. This one you can see it as well, but you have to look for it a bit under her braid and under the rest of the hair on her forehead. Is that normal for this doll? Thanks! Mine does a little, if you are really trying to find it! It doesn't show that badly though. I wouldn't complain! Hope I helped!

I can't believe I haven't reviewed Mia yet! Mia is one of my favorite dolls. (I still can't choose between her and #25, but Mia was my favorite for several months before #25 arrived!) I love the hazel eyes and the unique freckle pattern. The layered hair and the zigzag part can become really frustrating when you're trying to do braids and certain other styles, but I would never trade it for anything. The hair is a really nice strawberry blonde color, although it looks red in certain lights/pictures. She has the same decal eyes as JLY#21, and they are absolutely my favorite eyes! They're gorgeous, and look just right with Mia's hair color and freckles. I have not noticed that my Mia is any chubbier than any of my other dolls (she is kinda fat, but in truth, all AGs are...). Honestly, half the money I paid for her, I was paying to get my hands on her adorable meet outfit. I just love it! As Keri noted, the jersey skirt she comes in is very hard to get off. There is no velcro, and very little or no elastic in the waistband. I found that you CAN do it, even on a PM girl, if you wiggle it just right, but it can be a pain. I absolutely love Mia's meet shoes! The purple laces make it really unique. Also, I like the elastic "laces", because lacing up dolly shoes can become very irritating. As for her shirt, I loved it so much I ended up buying it in a girl's size for myself. I haven't had any problems with the decals coming off, and I just adore the thumbholes. A+ for Mia! She's really pretty, looks good in almost every outfit, is very unique compared to other dolls, and is just all-around awesome. One last plus for Mia is that her books are very well-written, and I really enjoyed reading and re-reading them. Probably my favorite GOTY books!

Here is a picture of the Meet Outfit on #25. I think the coloring does more for her than it does for Mia. Sorry about the bad lighting. I don't have Mia, so I'm only going to review the outfit. First, we have a berry-colored sweater. I am neutral about the sweater's embellishments. For me, they kind of work for the girl I bought it for, because she's Russian and needs good wintry stuff. When I was putting this on, I ended up feeling very stupid because I forgot about the thumbholes and the sleeves were really hard to get on. Then I had a "Duh" moment. The sweater sleeves, I'm happy to report, look okay if you don't use the thumbholes if that's not your style. I actually quite like the sweater, snowlake iron-on transfer and all. Think of it this way: iron-on snowflake instead of sewn-on or embroidered snowflake gives you the choice! A. Next up, the skirt. VERY DIFFICULT TO GET ON. This especially concerns me because she wears it with tights, which snag easily. The other negative about the skirt? When it's worn in a way that doesn't make your doll look stumpy, the hem of the sweater covers up the sequins and blue threaded design on the waistband, so then it just looks like a plain gray sweatskirt. It'd probably be really cute over one of the plain leotards, because then you could actually see the design. I know a lot of people are not big fans of the skirt's style, but I am a miniskirt person and I really like it. A for looks, C+ for the fact that it is so hard to get on and that so many shirts would hide the waistband. The tights are your basic AG tights. Light Pink. I like them. A+The shoes ARE ADORABLE. I actually bought them separately first as a replacement part, and then bought the rest of the outfit later. In my opinion, the cutest shoes AG has ever made! I love the color, both of the canvas and of the laces, and I like the fact that the laces are elastic. A+I think the best part of the set is that the pieces are so mix and matchable. I have strong opinions about meet outfits and mix-and-matchability; that is, I think that the Meet Outfit should provide you with foundation pieces. Mia's Meet Outfit goes ESPECIALLY well with the pieces (besides the jersey) from her 2-in-1 outfit. In fact, my 2-in-1 outfit would feel incomplete without Mia's pink tights and turquoise sneakers. Overall, I really like this set and would recommend snatching it up if you find it at a not-too-exorbinant price, especially if you already have the 2-in-1 outfit because it extends the wearibility of those pieces by a lot. But, AG, you really should have put more freaking elastic in the skirt. So, sadly, B+.

I absolutely love My Mia Doll. She has Strawberry Blond hair, Hazel eyes and freckles across her face. How cute! I give Mia a A++
Sweater: It is really cute. I love the little glove things attached to it and the little snow flake. A-
Skirt: The skirt is really pretty. I love the little Rhine stones on it and the blue threads, But It is really hard to get on. Especially If Mia is wearing tights. B+
Shoes: I LOVE the shoes. They are the cutest sneakers ever! They are really easy to put on. I also love the style of them. A+
Tights: I like the Tights. They are Baby Pink. I think It completes the outfit. B-

Her Quality i would give a C. As soon as you take the hair-net off, it becomes wild. Also as others mentioned, the hair is not red. It is more of a strawberry-blondish mix. The meet outift is the cutest i have seen over the years, except for the skirt. It would be very hard for a child to get it on and off. I keep her in the first performance outfit for the reason. The meet outift gets a B+. Her hair is really easy to work with. You do not have to be a genius to do much. For this i give an A+++ because it is really easy for my daughter to mess with. This is my only doll that i have kept from getting the frixxies besides kailey. I would recommend her to avid collectors and young children. Overall is A-.

Mia is a gorgeous doll! I love her strawberry blond hair, hazel eyes, and freckles. It's an adorable combo. I like her meet outfit. The skirt is kind of tight. The shoes are the best part, super adorable little doll high tops. My Mia visits the 40's sometimes as well.

Mia is a favorite in our house so she gets a A from us! Mia was my daughter's first AG doll which she saved her own money to buy. (She was 8 and that is a big deal to save so much.)
What we like about Mia is that she is different than the other dolls. I love her light freckles and hazel eyes. Her hair is just beautiful. It can hold many styles. My daughter has been able to keep her hair nice as well. Her Mia has the braid out and is even more stunning.
Mia's meet outfit is nice. I really like the sweater, although I like it better without the skate club sticker. I think the pieces have matching capability. Although I am not sure what to pair with the skirt, yet. (I wish her meet skirt had been her denim skirt instead). The shoes are nice but I would prefer they had white laces. I am thinking about switching this as well. But overall the outfit is an A because it does have the mix and match potential.

I don't have Mia but I have her meet sweater and skirt. I do like the color combination, looks great on my #25. I do like the thumbhole design of the sweater, but the iron on is cheap. Skirt is hard to put on but very cute and can go with lots of tops.
Over all I give A-.

Mia is my very first hazel-eyed girl. I love her eyes, her pretty colouring and freckles! I think her meet outfit is quite nicely done: my biggest gripe is doll clothes that look like doll clothes - I like them to look like scaled down 'real' clothes that someone would wear at the age the doll represents. I could see a 9-10 year old wearing Mia's clothes (as long as they weren't prejudiced against pink as my DD has been since she was much younger than 10, lol). Her shoes are gorgeous and I especially like the skirt. The top is okay, nothing wrong with it per se, it just isn't my favourite piece of the outfit. Mia has lovely, silky hair and it's a good length to brush and play with, though I am not sure I will ever take out that braid! I liked Mia's first book more than I expected to... so much so that I want to find out what happens next! I now have Bravo Mia coming from Ebay (and it spurred me to find and buy Lindsey's and Marisol's books too). Mia gets a resounding A+ from me. I only wish I'd been sensible and got her (and her accessories and maybe an outfit or two) last year, when I could buy them direct and at retail. Lesson learned

I added Mia to my collection this Fall and adopted her off eBay. She has such a distinctive look and really is a lovely doll. Her ginger-colored hair is soft, shiny and I love her braid. Her hair/eye color combination is perfect and the scattering of freckles adds to her individuality.
Her meet outfit just didn't appeal to me, so I sold it on eBay. Now Mia is my Civil War era girl and I think Addy's birthday outfit looks wonderful with her coloring.

My Mia was a birthday gift...purchased in Feb. 2008, and she is probably one of the most unique AG dolls. Overall, I give this girl a A++++++ for excellent quality. I love her hair color; it's a shiny light red/strawberry-blonde color. Her wig is also very nice and thick. The layering makes it possible to fix her her in more modern styles. Wig: A+++Her face is adorable to boot- I love her pale freckles and hazel eyes. I'm not too crazy about the whole meet outfit together, but the pieces make for great mix and matching. The outfit fits just about any doll very well. I give it an A+.

Mia is my favorite doll. I give her a B+ I would give her an A+ but you can't put a bun in her hair and I don't like that because in her book " Bravo, Mia" she wore and bun. Over all she is a wonderful doll! I got her used so I don't have her full meet outfit. Her top and skirt are the two items I have they are both good quality. I give them an A.

I missed out on getting Mia, I was in love with her meet outfit the way AG showed it, the outfit seemed flawless. I'm so glad I read the Mia's reviews and looked at her pictures. The outfit is not as fantastic as it seemed. I still would one day like to get Mia. She is unique with the freckles and reddish hair. (I'm glad she doesn't have neon green eyes.)
I did buy a pair of Mia's blue/purple sneakers at the American Girl Place in Chicago last March. I use the shoes very often with my dolls and they are holding up well. They are cute too. Shoes-A+

I've had (Ella) Mia for about three months and she's become one of my favourite dolls. I would give her an A. Her hair is beautiful and the thickest of all my other dolls and it's such a lovely colour. She's missing the "plus" because as lovely and thick her hair is, if the front is not put up with clips or a hairtie, it goes directly in her face. I hate that she can't really have her hair down without it going into her eyes. As for the meet outfit, it looks better on other dolls. It just doesn't go with her colouring at all. The pink sweater makes Ella's (my Mia)face washed out. The skirt is a pain to get on since it has no Velcro. The shoes are cute, but I wish they were a different shade of blue. Overall, I give her an A. She's the only LE doll I've wanted from the moment she was released.

I purchased Miss Mia on Ebay, so I did not receive her meet outfit.
As for the doll, she is my favorite in my collection. She is GORGEOUS! Her hair is like a light copper. It is gorgeous and layered, and frames her face gorgeously (is there really any other word to use for her?) Her freckles compliment her eyes well, and gives her that Irish girl look!
Grade: A+++

Mia is my second favorite doll of any that I own/are made. I love her, her hair is beautiful, her meet outfit is my favorite of any of the dolls ever made, I just love her. I love the lesson that her stories taught, as I believe it is a lesson that to few people know, and that even fewer can manage. I wanted Mia the moment I saw her and I finally received her for Christmas of 2008, I have never taken her out of the box because she looks so perfect as is! I honestly think she is the best GOTY they have made thus far. Grade: A+

Wow, where do I begin? Mia is the most beautiful doll! Everything about her is detailed and perfect. I just love this doll! And her hair is fabulous too, it's not too short, so you can do a whole lot with it! One of my favorite GOTY dolls that I have. For sure I give her an A++

I LOVE HER! Her hair is So pretty, kinda a Carmel color with highlights and Its so thick so its very easy to brush without hairs coming out. i also love her eyes, A Lighter color than kananis. Her Freckles are very light, but i think that if they were dark she would look weird. Her outfit is cute to, but not my favorite. Although Her Converse are so adorable and can sometiimes be easy to get on, but sometimes i struggle. ALthough i do think they couldve done Better on the Shirt And tights. ( U know better design , but it was still cute) I Give her an A+ for the doll and A- for the outfit.

I absolutely love my Mia doll! I bought her for a price of $182.00 on Amazon in August. Since then she has been my favorite doll. I dislike the fact that Amazon sellers are charging so much for her items. I don't think I can afford another thing from her collection, I'll try though. Oh well, onto the review. Doll Itself: A+ What more is there to say other than that she is absolutely gorgeous! She has more of strawberry- blonde hair than red hair. Her freckles and eyes are perfectly placed, no flaws with this girl! Top: A I haven't tried changing her outfit yet, but I have heard some things concerning the iron on. By feel, it seems very flimsy, even though mine has not peeled at all. Thumb holes are very cute. The top reminds me of a tennis shirt I wear. Skirt: A- Like above, I have not tried taking off her skirt. Although when I stuck my finger under the elastic, it was super tight! I have heard about this on the above reviews that it is tight. Well the reviews are right. I will try to take it off and see what happens Tights: A- What can I say? They're tights. They are pink and easy to rip. Shoes: A+ Gorgeous! Elastic will not break very easily. I haven' t taken them off yet, but I think they are very good quality. Final Rating: A+ This doll is absolutely gorgeous. Anyone who doesn't have her, I would strongly suggest getting her!
